FOF: Why? Why does this happen

Offense: Punt Formation.
NED 13 Pipkin punted 42 yards from the NED41.
HOU 88 Chandler returned the ball 5 yards to the HOU22.
Tackled by NED 63 Writt.
HOU 7 Middleton was injured on the play.
This appears to be a serious injury

why does my starting QB get hurt on a Punt Return?

why? why? why?

If the game had been in Detroit I could see a fan induced injury.

Begin Al Michaels' voice:

Pipkin punts the ball away.

It's fielded at the 17 by Chandler. He makes the first guy miss, heads to the sideline.

Oh what a hit by Writt.

End Al Michaels' voice.

Begin John Madden's voice.

That was a slobberknocker. And Middleton is slow to get up. He looks all discombobulated right now. I don't think he knows where he is.

End John Madden's voice.

Begin Al Michaels' voice.

Oh, you hate to see that. Your starting quarterback is getting last minute instructions, and from behind him he gets taken out Terry Tate style.

End Al Michaels' voice.

Was he one of the many 5ft 9 QB's that you see playing special teams in the NFL?

You gotta have some imagination..

Your qb was getting ready to go into the game, and didn't tie his shoes.. and tripped over the laces tearing his acl
