Round 3: Which Weird Story is Not Real?

A: A Tampa Bay, Florida man recently made the news as he filed legal papers, wanting the court to order a paternity test on the child that his mistress claimed he had fathered. The 73 year old man claimed there was no way that he could have fathered the child, despite confirming he had been "active" with his mistress, who was in her thirties.

B: About 900 well-heeled taxpayers in Washington DC are getting a tax break of 30,000 dollars or more. Thanks to a "historical preservation" law, passed in 1976, the home owners will get the tax break because their homes have a historical facade. To qualify for the tax break, a owner must committ to not altering the facade, but don't worry, DC law prevents altering the facade anyway.

C: Noted "mindreader" The Amazing Kreskin wrote to the acting governor of his home state of New Jersey in Novemeber that he wanted to help the state shed its image of unethical deals and thus volunteered to sit in government meetings and identify which officials are secretly up to no good.

D: A german driver was recently cited in an accident where the driver hit a lamppost and a parked car. The police said the driver was distracted when she was driving, as she was preparing a bowl of cereal with milk on the passenger seat, and was trying to keep the full bowl from falling to the floor.

Vote D...the driver hit the lamp post and a parked car? Or did the car hit the lamp post and a parked car?

"C" could be true. It only states that he wrote to the governor, not necessarily that he successfully performed his mindreading activity.

Shouldn't it be a German driver, not a german driver?

I'm going with D. Now consider that I'm .500 on these things now when you decide for yourself.

I'm torn though, because I really think each of these things is plausible. So much so, I nearly voted for A because it seems the most "innocuous" of the selections.

I'd put money on A.

I somewhat remember hearing about Kreskin in USA Today so, not that one.

I'm going with A, just because there's nothing unusual at all about that story...

Congrats Mustang and Jeebies, you're the only ones to come out of this one with the correct answer.

The answer is A
