FM2005 - Youth Question
This is something that I haven't had a chance to develop before playing mostly in lower leagues. But in my current dynasty I'm now competing in the Championship League with Blackpool and am starting to think about developing my youth squad down the road.
My questions are...what's the best way for your youth squad to develop? Does the quality of your training facility generate better youths or does it just allow the players you have to train better? Does the success of your team improve the kind of youths that are generated each season? Is it better to go out and buy more established team's youths (once you have the money for that)? I've also noticed that some youths become free agents...but they usually aren't that attractive of players. It would be cool to be able to bring up a youngster through the ranks and have him one day play with the big club.

When you upgrade your facilities to its max level, it will read "Top facilities plus academy"
Having an academy means that you will have generally better players come up through the ranks. I've heard it said (but haven't had a chance to confirm), the more people you have on your existing rosters, the less academy graduates you will see.

I know in CM 03/04 that after I purged many of the poor players in the reserves and U18 teams at Manchester United that I had a massive influx of academy graduates. Before, I did that purge I was getting very few academy players each year (zero in some years.) I had several talented players who came onto the team from that massive influx. |
