OT - Would you have picked this guy up?
I've been thinking about trying to day trade a couple of keepers. No one bid on this guy, with an opening price of $89K. I kept thinking I should pick him up, but there were plenty of people on, and no one else seemed interested. What would you have done?

I dont think you'll get 89000 back for him, as he is fairly old and only passable. But I could be wrong.

I agree with Easy. The age is the problem. Of course, with the number of idiots playing Hattrick, someone might give up 100k for him.
How much of a profit is enough to make it worthwhile? Is there a "thrill of the hunt" kinda thing that makes it fun to trade guys and make only a small profit, or is any profit a good profit? Personally, while I have no life to speak of, I am too lazy to work hard enough to trade for profit.

The fact that he's a nasty fellow factors in also... you sign him and you'll take some loss in morale. $89K for a guy that age and with baggage is probably about right. I don't think he's worth picking up as a speculation.
Remember, there's opportunity cost, too - every $89K you spend trying to get back $110 or 110K means that this cash is now tied up, rather than being invested in other players with a higher rate of return. I'm making some similar moves... I cannot seem to stop buying "inad" keepers for about $10K and selling them for $20-25K. Of course, my "margin" there is better... earning around $10k per guy, and only tying up $10k of resources to do so. |

I did pick up 1 inad guy for 10K, and listed him right away for 12K. Maybe once one of these works out I'll jump in with both feet

Don't take him. He's too old, his salary is pretty high, and he is nasty.

I agree with many of the above comments. Passable, old and nasty is not the way to go with goalkeeper unless you can steal the guy for $70k or less IMO.
