Personally I think he should have signed a league-minimum deal (converting the rest of the salary to a bonus) and added a year on the deal. That way they could have let him start this year, see how it worked out, and cut him June 2nd next year if they no longer wanted him.
I'm torn about whether or not he should keep playing. As much as I've always hated the Cowboys, I really grew to appreciate Emmitt Smith. The man is simply an all-time great. Off the top of my head I can only think of a few teams that would possibly be interested: Philly - maybe bring him in for a super bowl run this year, adds depth Tampa Bay Carolina Arizona - only to sell some more tickets Houston - pretty much to sell tickets, but could help them short term Cleveland - probably the least likely of all these teams due to William Green New England - doutbful, but maybe |

I will never ever forgot two of his games. The first being the game to clinch the Division against the Giants, and he had a seperated shoulder. I think he went for almost 100 yards AFTER he seperated it. Then, the second superbowl against the Bills, second half and he runs right about 8 straight times to get to the endzone, putting them ahead for good.

That'd be great to see Emmitt as an Eagle help kick the crap out of his old team. That would flat out rock.

That Giants game was the one that turned the tide for me (as far as my opinion of him). Even with the seperated shoulder, he was unstoppable. I'm rooting for him to land in either Philly or Tampa, in either place he'll have a very legitimate shot to help those teams to a Super Bowl title.

I hope Emmitt ends up with Tampa. I don't think that he would go to another NFC East team unless he was feeling REALLY vindictive...

apparently he was offered more than league minimum to stay with the team, but no doubt as a backup. I think that's what really sucks here. I mean... Troy Hambrick? C'mon.

What a sad day for us Cowboy fans. With all the Cowboy jokes out there, there was one thing that was untouchable...Emmitt. Well, except for the phone commercials. All I can say now is PLEASE don't go Philly, NYG, or 'Skin!
