Ping: Anyone who knows Flash

Utterly simplistic question, but I'll be damned if I can find an answer.

Is there a way/how do you do a standard boring alert popup in Flash?

You want like a javascript type alert?

or do you want a flash alert pop up?

Dola,

explain a little bit on what you are trying to do. I mean, it might be as simple as adding something in the timeline to make it happen, or write something in the Action Script to make it happen.

Yeah, just a simple javascript type alert. Basically, what I'm doing is confirming there is data inside a bunch of text fields on the stage, and if there isn't, I just need a little quicky popup message informing them to fill all the shit in.

I got thrown into this stupid flash bullshit at the last minute, and the last 2 days compose the entirety of my knowledge of Flash.

Alright, here is a small sample of an action script, if you drop it on the button.

on (release) {
comment = "CW Hates the Flash";
a = "javascript: showAlert('"+_root.comment +"')";
getURL(a);
}

Also, you need the following code on the page you are going to add your Flash too (Don't forget your Script Tags)

function showAlert (message) {
alert (message);
}

You rock, dude. Haven't tried it yet, but I see where you're going, should work. Buy yourself a beer and pretend it's from me.
