Medium- or Small-College Rivalries

After watching my beloved CMU Chippewas dismantle the hatedWestern Michigan Broncos last night (made all the better by the fact that Fox Sports actually broadcast the game in Detroit) I began thinking about the fact that, other than a dozen or so big-school rivalries throughout the country, I'm not that familiar with many strong rivalries elsewhere. Heck, I don't even know what most of the rivalries in the MAC are. What are some of your favorite rivalries that people may not know about?

One of the more important college BB rivalries is tonight. At the famed Palestra it is Penn-Princeton. With no tournament, the regular season champ goes to the tourney. One of the two of them has been the representative for the last 14 years and both teams are off to 4-0 starts in the conference this season.

Let's Go Quakers!

TCU/SMU It rarely gets any national press but its the battle for I-30 and in football the winning team gets the iron skillet. Most of the time the games are close no matter which team sucks or if they both do. They still play each other in basketball too.

TCU/Baylor was the 3rd longest rivalry in college football 90-something games but was stopped after Baylor went to the big-12.

North Dakota State and University of North Dakota is huge here. It is the most heated battle for all sports, the schools and students hate each other. fights and naughty t-shirts, that is college sports.

Hey don't count Brown out yet. I believe they have started conference play on fire.

Villanova, Penn, St Joes, La Salle & Temple all rival each other in Philly. Alot of fun seeing those games.
