2002 Welcome to the first season of the Boise City Terrible Tubers, as Director of Player Personnel I feel that it is important to explain some of the guidelines of roster development for our beloved Terrible Tubers. First, we may only renegotiate with players in the last year of their contract–management feels that it is important to not only create a successful team, but to keep players who want to develop ties to the greater Boise area. For that reason, we will also sign no free agents that have played for another team during their career, and all expansion draft players will be cut. I know it will be tough, but we feel that we shouldn’t have to sell players on the area. We will only sign rookies and hopefully keep most of them for their entire career. Along those lines the team feels that offense is the integral key to filling the seats, which is why we will only draft offensive players. In other words, anyone we get from the draft will be there to score points. Basically, this means that the entire defense will be undrafted rookie free agents. This might be tough to swallow, but we plan to keep each one of those players for seven years. They might be bad, but they are here for the long hall. Essentially, what we are looking at is the impact of cohesion of defense. The only way to do this is to keep the defensive squad together as long as possible, they might stink, but they will learn to stink together. After the first year, all training will be equally distributed between all aspects of the game and all formations. The first year we will focus on special teams and offense [note: defensive cohesion is 0 at the first training camp, therefor there is no reason to train in this aspect. I have seen the results and all formations end with 0 no matter how much training]. Wish us well this year, we are going to need all the karma we can get.

Morris Forbes is an experienced evaluator of talent, we would have like to get a scout with a little more skill, and a bit younger but with the NFL pushing to get the team formed he was the best choice out there. Management does feel that he should be replaced soon with a better young player evaluation skills. Winnifred Hoag is a good coach for a young team, while he might not be the best at talent development, his strong disipline and excellent motivational tactics might help to get this young team to play over their heads. We also feel that this might help to prevent more injuries than might normally be expected for a new team. However, his play calling skills are only a little above average. Paul Tagliabu "With the first pick of the 2002 draft the Terrible Tubers select "A.J. Rivas, Wide Receiver, Presbyterian." Mel Kuiper "That was a no brainer for the Tubers. This guy has all the tools to succeed in the NFL. He will be an impact player fron day one. Not only that, but with his educational background he should be a positive influence on the team." Rnd 2 - Bernie Cavallo, K, Auburn Mel Kuiper "This is a surprise, but honestly how could the Tubers pass him up? He is a potential Hall of Famer. His stock rose considerably after he hit the game winning 62 yard field goal against Michigan in the Sugar Bowl." Rnd 3 - Mercury Emmons, QB, North Texas Mel Kuiper "Well Mercury would be a backup on most teams, but since he best QB on the board, I can see why they drafted him--somebody has to get the ball to Rivas." Rnd 4 - Jake Warren, C, Columbia Mel Kuiper "Jake has the potential to be a good passblocker someday." Rnd 5 - Bo Richmond, WR, Indiana Mel Kuiper "Richmond is the same kind of steal that Jujuan Dawson was for the Browns in 2000." Rnd 6 - Devin Brady, G, Virginia Mel Kuiper "His stock dropped after the combine, but I expect him to have a break out year." Rnd 7 - Sherman Gunn, FB, Northwestern Mel Kuiper "Only player in the draft to have a higher G.P.A. than forty time. Wouldn't play for most teams, but has the potential to captain this one." After Camp: EA.com Front Office Football 2001 The Terrible Tubers had high hopes for Mercury Emmons, but he could not make it in the NFL. WE wish him the best of luck with the Buffalo Bastards of the XFL. Terrible Tubers 2002 Season
We go 1-3 in the preseason, but more importantly we only had two big injuries. Both were on defense of course. Our only victory came against St. Louis. The team tried hard, and the offense showed signs of life, but we just have no depth. Regular Season Projected Starters: QB-Garcia RB-Atkins FB-Gunn TE-Noll FL-Rivas SE-McDaniel LT-Frias LG-Kemp C-Warren RG-Manning RT-Diaz P-Weaver K-Cavallo PR-Farley KR-Farley DE-Monroe DE-Cortez DT-Ross DT-Villanueva LOLB-Robterson MLB-Farrell ROLB-Winters LCB-Farley RCB-Tanner FS-Rivers SS-Woodard Game Plans Coach Hoag: "I was brought in to run the Midwest 35, but I am going to tweek it just a little." Obviously we have depth at fullback and wide receiver. I am going to focus on the short passing game with a lot of flairs out the fullback and wide receiver screens. On defense, I plan to pray. I am going to blitz a lot and try to develop this young corps of linebackers. The loss of defensive tackle Byron Hopkins hurt us alot, but we should pull through." Week 1 Boise City 0-0 @ Miami 0-0 Off to a great start! On our first play from scrimmage after getting pinned deep by a Miami punt: Offense: Strong I, Left. Miami's next drive is ended by Janikowksi missing a 42 yard field goal. Well the game did not end so well. We lost 45-21. Eddie George ran over us as Miami picked up over 300 yards rushing. The only other bright spot for the team was Corner Back Tanner who had a 102 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Coach Hoag at the post game press conference: "Well, gentlemen I feel kinda like Bob Ucker did during the season opener in Major League. If I did that however, I'd probably get fined by the FCC and the NFL . . . although it might lead to a career with the XFL." Week 2 Pittsburg 1-0 @ Boise City 0-1 We welcome the Steelers for the first game in the Fry Basket. 48,000 faithful showed up on this brisk fall day. We believe the potato vodka giveaway was a smashing hit--especially with the young ones. Once again we scored the first touchdown. Garcia connected with Richmond for a four yard score. With Pittsburg driving at the end of the first half, Villanueva strips the ball and recovers it at the six yard line, just after the two minute warning, to preserve a 14-7 lead. Garcia completed 10 straight passes in the first half for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns. His first incomplete came early in the third quarter. Pittsburg drives 80 yards in under a minute to come back within three. Can we hold on for our first victory? With 49 seconds left Tanner recovers the onside kick. He is quickly becoming a special teams star for the Tubers Garcia drops in his knee for three snaps and it is into the books. The Tubers win 24-21. Garcia completed 24 passes in 31 tries, for 285 yards and 34 touchdowns. He connected with Richmond 7 times for 140 yards and two of those scores. For his efforts, Garcia was named player of the game. The defense also picked off Freize and MIller 3 times, and recovered 2 fumbles. Coach Hoag: "This first win was like the first time that I was with a woman--recent and a lot of fun. Although there was a lot less brusing than I expected during the game." Week 3 Boise City 1-1 @ San Diego 1-1 A special day in San Diego, Ryan Leaf's mug shot is being retired by the team. Every fan in attendance gets a special dart board with his picture in the bullseye. These dart boards also come with a warning that you should never kick them, or you might hurt your foot. San Diego, obviosuly jacked up by the fear of fans huring sharp projectiles at them, win 27-3. Coach Hoag: "Guys, we stunk today worse that that woman's feet. We had a stench. I mean objectivly speaking we were vile smelling, and I better not catch even a little whiff of that odor when I am on the plane home throwing darts at the game films." Week 4 Seattle 2-1 @ Boise City 1-2 Our closest rivals come into the Fry Basket. Being over 300 miles away means that we don't directly compete with them for fans--then again we have to compete with our backups to get them to watch the game. After falling behind 10-0 in the first quarter, Garcia gets hot and throws 2 touchdown passes in a five minute span. After each team trades missed field goals it goes into the half with the same score. Garcia hits Rivas for a five yard score and we take a 21-10 lead midway through the third quarter. Seattle drives down the field for a score. They had four plays over 20 yards. After the ensuing kickoff: Offense: Single Back, Left. When Garcia gets hot there is no stopping him. 5:13 left 3 and goal on the three for Seattle (BC leading 28-17). McNair tosses it in for the touchdown. We stopped the conversion!! 3:07 we fail to get a key first down and now have to punt. Atkins was stuffed on a long third and three. Seattle calls time out with 28 seconds left. Down by 5 with 43 yards to go. They have had several big plays this game and coach Hoag looks really worried on the sidelines. If he goes with the prevent defense Seattle has an opportunity to do it in two 20 yard plays since they have a pair of timeouts left. 1-10-BOI37 (00:40) SEA 7 McNair sacked by BOI 94 Weikel and BOI 97 Monroe for a loss of 6 yards. We pulled it out. 28-23. Garcia was named player of the game again for his 275 yard, 4 touchdown performance. Rivas grabbes 9 balls for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns. Three people intecepted McNair passes to help preserve the victory. Coach Hoag: "Man, what a win. I was sweating more than a chicken in a slaughter house."

2002 Terrible Tubers Regular Season Week 5 Green Bay 2-2 @ Boise City 2-2 Well, the Cheeseheads have come to the Fry Basket this week. Team Captain Sherman Gunn was quoted in the paper as saying, "We are going to deep fry these guys like they were breaded cheese sticks." Ownership, was pleased with the comments, but were a little afraid of giving Green Bay too much motivation for this week. Continuing the trend of quick starts the Studly Spuds put the first touchdown on the board, when Garcia hit Richmond with a 15 yard strike. With 3:31 with on the clock, Garcia connects with Richmond again. This time for ten yards. As the teams prepares for the kick off, the blocked punt for a safety earlier in the quarter looms large, as Green Bay leads 16-14. We for a punt with 2:20 left. An intentional face mask by Green Bay means that they are punting from their own fourteen. Hopefully we will get good field position to kick the game winning field goal. 1:42 left in the game. After getting the ball our own 49, Garcia goes to work. BOI 12 Garcia pass completed to 89 McDaniel for 33 yards. On the 15 with a minute left. With 36 seconds left, Cavallo hit a 28 yarder to take the lead 17-16. With :02 in the clock; GBY 15 Greer attempted a 56 yard field goal and missed short of the crossbar. He missed it! The Tubers win! Garcia again wins player of the game. He threw for 247 yards and 2 touchdowns. McDaniel had ten catches for 117 yards, and Richmond scored both touchdowns. Coach Hoag: "I guess the Packers weren't a Gouda as they thought. HA!HA!HA! I have been saving that one since the time when I was an assistant with the Lions." Week 6 Kansas City 2-2 @ Boise City 3-2 QB Daniel Garcia had this to say about his new stadium, "The Fry basket is quickly becoming a place where the opponent gets scorched and burned." Trailing 17-0, Boise finally gets on the board with a Garcia to Raisor touchdown strike. 4:51 left, trailing by 3, the Terrible Tubers get the ball on their own 1. No! A punt. We get the ball back with 1:54 on the clock. We have one time out and 72 yards to go. Garcia sacked and that is the ball game. Coach Hoag: "No jokes this week, I am too angry. Our special teams was amazing, we kept them inside their own twenty all day. Garcia's four interceptions killed us. Granted his ability to read defenses is excellent, but he made a lot of rookie mistakes." Week 7 Oakland 0-6 @ Boise City 3-3 Team captain Sherman Gunn had this to say, "It is always sad to see a team with a proud tradition like the Raiders, stink so bad, but that doesn't mean we aren't going to still stick it to them. Obviously, the Culpepper/Couch situation is unhealthy for that team. Both should be starting in the NFL right now, the Raiders only have the one ball--this is one seriously divided team." In a completely unmemorable game, Oakland wins 20-0. Both teams were terrible. On a bright note, Linebacker Sean Robertson added to more sacks to his team leading total of 5. Coach Hoag: Well, we lost to the Raiders. We are the only team to accomplish that goal to the midpoint of the season. That makes us special, right?" Week 8 San Diego 5-3 @ Boise City 3-4 Garcia, "I hope we can come together as a team, it would be nice to go into the midway point of the season with a .500 record. Heck, most people didn't think we would win three games all year." In a surprise move, Boise City sets a new giveaway for the fans. It is unripened potato day at the Fry Basket. All fans will receive a rock hard potato free, just for going through the turnstiles. This promotions appears to be in response to the trauma caused by Ryan Leaf Mug Shot day back in San Diego--it appears we may have a new rival. We lost 21-11, Garcia had another rough game. Coach Hoag: "we will try to pick it up in the second half of the season. I am surprised with our performance so far, especially the defense. Week 9 Bye Week Week 10 Boise City 3-5 @ Seattle 4-4 Seattle scored early and often to take a 31-0 lead at halftime. The Tubers could only muster 21 yards total offense in the first half. Garcia had an excellent second half, but the scoring in the first half was just to much. Final score 45-15. Coach Haug: "I got wiplash watching Seattle in the first half, fortunatly our guys calmed down and we played well in the third and fourth quarters." Week 11 Boise City 3-6 @ Minnesota 6-3 Things do not start well. On the third play from scrimmage: Offense: Shotgun, Right. After falling behind 17-0, the Tubers show some life! Once again it is the special teams. Early in the 2nd: MIN 11 Tupa punted and it was blocked by BOI 33 Rivers. In a daring move, Coach Hoag elects to go for it on 4th and 20. WTF? Needless to say the Tubers do not convert. Garcia is KO'd early in the fourth quarter and McCarter comes into the game. The Tubers luck doesn't change as they trail 38-0. And that is how the game ends. Coach Haug: "To say that I am upset, is an understatment! I am enraged, I just don't know what to do with these players. Maybe a swift kick in the head will help." Week 12 Boise City 3-7 @ Denver 4-6 Two missed field goals and a failed 4th and gaol from the one characterize the first half as the Tubers Trail 7-0. Things go from bad to worse in the third. Denver wins 31-0. Coach Hoag: "No Comment." Week 13 Boise City 3-8 @ Oakland 2-9 This might be the battle for the number on draft pick. . . The tubers are proving the are up to the task. Three Garcia interceptions have been returned for touchdowns. Only a field goal with no time left on the clock prevented the halftime score from being a shut out. Instead it is 24-3. These stats tell the story of the 38-17 loss:
Week 14 Dever 5-7 @ Boise City 3-9 Things have become quite quiet aroung the Fry Basket in recent weeks. It appears that there will be some changes in the front office after the season. In a barn burner, Denver leads 6-3 at the half. Garcia throws two interceptions in the last two minutes of the game. Boise City looses 13-6. Week 15 Boise City 3-10 @ Tampa Bay 6-7 Let us just say that two Guys named Morris combined for 166 yards rushing. Tampa wins 31-6. Week 16 Jacksonville 5-9 @ Boise City 3-11 Whoo Hoo! A good start to the game BOI 14 Cavallo kicked off 66 yards from the BOI30. We get a field goal, and first the first time in over a month, we have the lead! Atkins takes the pitch and goes 8 yards for the score. We are winning 10-0. We double that going into half time. Leading 23-7 to 7 with :43 on the clock, the defense ices the game: Offense: I, WR to Slot, Left. Safety Herman Horst is awarded the game MVP. Team Captain Gunn had this to say, "At least I won't feel so guilty about my post game beer tonight. We won again. Boy, won't Marmel be pissed." Week 17 Hoping the momentum will carry through the offseason, Coach Haug plans to pull out all the stops. "Besides," he said, "I don't want to lose my job." Boise City 4-11 @ Kansas City 11-4 With KC leading 10-0 frustration hits the Tubers offense Offense: Single Back, 4 WR, Left. Boise played tough, but lost 13-3. What a poor way to end the season. 2003 Pre Season Our first order of business is to replace the coaching and scouting staffs. We were able to get scout Ralph Mullaney under contract easily. He is young and energetic--and although he is only 38, already has a very good understanding of athletes at most postions. Getting a noew coach proved to be a lot tougher. We were out bid by another team for our first choice. We decide to give coach Hoag another year. With an excellent off season conditioning program, undrafted defensive tackle broke out to excellent ratings. Garcia improved greatly as well, if we can't get a QB in the first round, we may stick with him. Before free agency we get an offer for Daniel Garcia, while we reject the offer, it is not flattering to see that Carolina thinks he is only worth a fifth round pick. No activity in Free Agency, when we said we were not going to sign free agents, we meant it. Paul Taglibu: "With the fifth pick in the draft, the Terrible Tubers take, Colbert, Jimmie, Tackle, Arkansas." Mel Kuiper: "This pick is a bit surprising, but since Arizona QB Walter Young was just drafted, I can understand how they would want to shore up the offensive line." Rnd 2 - Ryan Senter, T, Boston University Mel Kuiper: 'While the misnamed Senter is much better at run blocking than pass blocking, he will make a strong tandem with Colbert" Rnd 3 - Brady Freeman, G, UCLA Kuiper "He will be a great player in the league if he can increase his endurance." Rnd 4 - Marshall Buchanan, QB, Georgia Tech "Buchanan is not ready for the NFL right now, but a year on the bench behind Garcia might help." Rnd 5 - John Roques, TE, Alabama Kuiper "A nice addition to the squad, he will upgrade the position drastically. WHile he is not exceptional at any one aspect of the game, he is better than average at all of them." Rnd 6 - Kenneth Hatcher, RB, California Kuiper "I don't see this guy making the squad out of camp. He is marginal at best." Rnd 7 - B.J. Kiselak, RB, South Carolina Kuiper "In any other year, this guy would be looking for a job in the XFL." Team Cohesion: 72/70/71/70 Formation Expertise: 24/57/63/58/58/62/57 62/61/58/57/63/58/41/58/60/61/58 62/57/56/59/62/56/59 Position Filled during camp: All but three. Ackk! Colbert turned up at camp, out of shape and lacking in muscle tone. He is such a Hal Sutton. I guess it balances out the Byron Hopkins second year breakout. Roster:
We won our first preseason game against Dallas and then lost the rest. The bright spot is that they were all close games and the four teams posted a combine 13-3 record in the preseason.

Regular Season Week 1 Denver 0-0 @ Boise City 0-0 We start the season in the Fry Basket against hated divisional rival Denver. The fans are surly--they expect a win. The honeymoon is over. After trading punts the entire first quarter, Curtis Enis plunges into the endzone for Denver's first touchdown of the season. A long kickoff return sets up the Tubers with great field position. On the second play, the equalizer: Offense: Strong I, WR to Slot, Left. Denver kicks a field goal on their next posession. Then Garcia goes hets hot. He nails tightend Roques with two completions for 61 yards. Then on the next play: Offense: Single Back, Right. Denver scores with :10 left in the half to take a 17-14 lead. Trailing by 17 with 3 minutes left Garcia hits another long bomb Offense: Pro, 3 WR, Left. And the final is Denver 34, Tubers 24. Week 2 Daniel Garcia's national ad campaign "This Spud's For You." Will debut at halftime of this week's game." Make sure you check it out. Kansas City 1-0 @ Boise City 0-1 Right off the bat, the tubers are plucking the opponent: Offense: I, Right. The favor is returned a few minutes later: Offense: Shotgun, Right. Garcia celebrated his new found fame by throwing five interceptions. BC looses 24-7 Week 3 Boise City 0-2 @ Oakland 2-0 Another poor performance as Oakland wins 31-7 Week 4 Boise City 0-3 @ Buffalo 0-2 This game is being billed as the Buffalo Chips Bowl--and by this, we don't mean good eatin' " Late in the third quarter, Boise takes the lead 17-10: Offense: Single Back, Left. Less than one minute later Payton Manning ties the score: Offense: I, 3 WR, Left. Garcia counters at the start of the fourth: Offense: Weak I, Left. This game is getting quite exciting. 1:50 left and the Bills, trailing by four, have the ball on the Tuber's 35 yard line. And the ball is picked off!!!!!!!! Offense: Single Back, Left. Looks like we might pull this one out! Harold Gaiter is named player of the game for his 4 sacks from the outside linebacker position. Rivas also had an excellent game, catiching 9 balls for 160 yards and a touchdown.

Regular Season Week 5 Boise City 1-3 @ Seattle 2-2 Because of two Garcia interceptions, Seattle leads 10-0 at the half. **Sigh** Final Score Seattle wins 30-0 Week 6 Boise City 1-4 @ Jacksonville 3-2 With Jacksonville leading 22-7, Garcia gets back into the game. After a 44 yard completion, he strikes again: Offense: I, Left. Garcia throws another game away as the Tubers loose 25-14. [Boy won't this be exciting when the Tubers actually start to win a few games?] Week 7 Boise City 1-5 @ San Diego 3-2 After another exciting kickoff return for a touchdown, followed up with a field goal at the :16 mark of teh second quarter, we go into the locker room with a 16-14 lead. At the start of the fourth quarter, we go back on top 24-21 Offense: Weak I, 3 WR, Right. Warner connects for a score and Boise is down 28-24 with 2 minutes to play. For straight incomplete passes and we can chalk up another loss for Boise. Week 8 Oakland 3-4 @ Boise City 1-6 Fired up from a goal line stand that resulted in holding the Raiders to a field goal, Garcia is fired up. Offense: Pro, WR to Slot, Left. On the next possession: Offense: Weak I, Left. Boise leads 14-3 Garcia is on fire, he drills a linebacker at the 1 and plunges in for another score: Offense: Shotgun, Right. At the half, Boise leads 21-13 and Garcia has thrown for 2 scores and run for another. On the first drive of the second half, Gracia connect with Rivas--his favorite target: Offense: Shotgun, Right. Quite a few Field Goals are Kicked after that. Boise Wins 40-16! Garcia is named player of the game for his 335 yard, 3 td perfomance. Week 9 Bye Week. It will give a few of our 3-5 week injury guys a chance to heal. Week 10 Boise City 2-6 @ Kansas City 6-2 Garcia is quoted in the papers as saying "Right now we don't care about future draft picks, we are more focused on getting to .500" Boise Gets on the board first: Offense: Pro, WR to Slot, Right. In a tight game Boise leads 7-0. with 11:41 left KC gets hit hard: Offense: Single Back, 4 WR, Right. Could this be a chance for Boise to open it up? After avoiding a sack on the first play, Garcia makes the highlight film again: Offense: Shotgun, Left. Boise gets the ball back and runs out the clock to preserve a 14-3 victory. A.J. Rivas is named player of the game after his third consecutive 100 receiving game. Week 11 Boise City 3-6 @ Seattle 5-4 Boise tries to contiune their rise into respectability this week. The next play, Boise ties the score: Offense: Single Back, WR to Slot, Right. Boise Takes the lead early in the second quarter: Offense: Single Back, WR to Slot, Right. Boise goes into the locker room leading 17-7. Boise picks of 40 yards in sacks in the second half to preserve a 27-7 victory. For the second week in a row A.J. Rivas is named player of the game. We get revene for the blow out a few short weeks ago! Week 12 Some swagger is back in the steps of Tuber players. Boise City 4-6 @ New Orleans 6-4 Ouch, Boise is quickly falling back to earth. They trail 28-7 going into halftime. After a second touchdown pass to Rivas, Boise's special teams try to put them back into the game: BOI 14 Cavallo kicked off 66 yards from the BOI30. Offense: Weak I, Left. We are not even out of the third quarter and Rivas already has over 200 yards reveiving to go with his 3 touchdown catches. New Orleans leads 28-21 Seattle returns the ensuing kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown--live by special teams, die by special teams. We aren't out of it yet! The next kickoff is returned for 75 yards and then Garica throws another TD: Offense: Single Back, Right. The third quarter ends with New Orleans leading 35-28 No kicks a couple of field goals in the fourth to win a heart breaker 41-28. Week 13 Cleveland 2-9 @ Boise City 4-7 The game starts with Boise pinning Cleveland on their own 1. Two plays later: Offense: Weak I, Left. Garcia and Rivas connect again. Offense: Shotgun, WR to Slot, Right. At the half it is tie at 10. Garcia throws a td to Richmond late in the game, but Cleveland hold on to win 24-21.

Regular Season Week 14 St Louis 9-3 @ Boise 4-8 We start off quickly again, 8 minutes into the game: Offense: Strong I, Right. On the following kickoff the special teams does it again: BOI 14 Cavallo kicked off 70 yards from the BOI30. We take a quick 14-0 lead of division leading St. Louis: Offense: Weak I, Right. Wow, we kicked a field goal and then after a StL punt, Garcia leads us to the end zone again: Offense: Single Back, WR to Slot, Left. We go into halftime with a 30-7 lead. Garcia to Rivas looks unstoppable. St Louis had a late comback, but several field goals help to preserve the win! We are the victors 36-25. Whew, we just beat a division leader. Rivas is again named player of the game. Week 15 San Diego 8-5 @ Boise 5-8 Well, there looks like there is some serious fight left in this dog. Team captain Sherman Gunn may sit part of the game this week after breaking his nose in the vicotry over St. Louis. His response to the injury, "You should see how I flattened that guy on the block. He was asking for his mother after the play. He saw some of the blood from my nose on his jersey, and he thought I went through him." We pick up the action in the fourth quarter. To this point San Diego took a 24 to nothing lead. But Boise refuses to give up and with 5:25 left, Offense: Single Back, Left. The tubers go up 25-24 With a minute and thirty-six left, San Diego falls to convert a critical fourth down Offense: Strong I, 3 WR, Left. Boise hold onto the lead and the game ends with another victory, this has really been a different team in the second half of the season. The Garcia to Rivas combination does it again, and Rivas is named player of the game. Week 16 Boise 6-8 @ Denver 7-7 A chance for Boise to move out of the Western Division Celler this week. Early in the second quarter, Boise takes the lead 10-2 after Gracia connects with Rivas again. Offense: Weak I, Right. With five minutes left in the first half, Garcia hits Rivas with the Bomb, for a 17-2 lead. Rivas already has 166 yards receiving. Offense: Weak I, 3 WR, Left. Three straight sacks seal the 30-16 victory:
A.J. Rivas is named player of the game again after catching 2 tds and gaining over 200 yards recieveing. Garcia was just amazing. We take the lead 7-6 after a short run by Woodson, early in the second quarter. San Fran kicks another field goal to go up 9-7, but a punt places them at the three, and on third down: Offense: Single Back, WR to Slot, Right. We are all tied up at 9-9 Garcia has another psychic connection with Rivas, after the free kick, to give Boise the lead: Offense: Single Back, Left. San Fransisco Ties it at 16 with :31 on the clock. It looks like this one will go to overtime. OT-Boise Kicks off. Big play by the defense, Offense: Single Back, 5 WR, Left. On the 28, and all we need is a field goal to reach .500. The field goal is good from 30 yards and Linebacker K.C. Van Dyke is the player of the game. WE did it! We made it back to 500!!! Awards 1st team Wide Reciever A.J. Rivas. Pre Season Coach Winnifred Hoag's contract is up, and while we appreciate everything he has done for the team, we feel it is time to make a change. We hire Cole Jacobs, a promising young coach who has had a few years in Green Bay. He his a very good coach, but we worry about his ability to deal with injuries. We go into free agency with only one person not under contract. He is, however, restricted and will be resigned at the end of the period. Otherwise, no FA activity. Kenneth Hatcher is traded to Cleveland for a Fourth (5) round pick. Daniel Garcia's stock is rising as we refuse a 2 round pick from the Lions. Rnd 1 - Jimmie Ferguson, RB, Michigan State Mel Kuiper- "Jimmie should bring stability to a team that is lacking a running game, he has excllent speed and pass catching ability. However, he doesn't seem as if he will improve his game much from the level he was at at MSU." Rnd 2 - Cedric Malbrough, FB, Florida State MK-"The Big and Beefy guy is excellent on third down, both running the ball and out of the backfield. He also set an NCAA record for carries and catches without a fumble." Rnd 3 - Bruce Veland, QB, Oklahoma MK-"Veland shows a lot of potential throwing the ball, if he can get past the running offense he was featured in at Oklahoma." Rnd 4 - Rufus Ford, G, Texas "This guy is huge, and should develop into a decent pass blocker in the future." Rnd 4 - Paul Prior, T, Iowa "He will never be more than a reserve in this league." Rnd 5 - Roger Palmer, QB, Ohio State "After reports of him failing a drug test, allowed him to slip into the fifth round.
