For D&D fans...

I just found out about the new skirmish game published by WOTC. Like I needed something else to spend my money on...

I think it's basically the D&D system with a few twists. BTW...Mage Knight has been revamped. You may want to give it another shot. Or at least look over the changes and see if it is more to your needs.

Im a manager of a game store, and sell the new D&D mini's. There not half bad. It is basically a pared down version of Dungeons and Dragons. The cool thing I like is that it comes with stats for the mini game and for using them in your normal D&D game.
The models arent all great, but I hear they will be getting better and better. (much like Mage Knight did, should see some of them early models)

I bought the starter set today, and it looks very promising. I'm going to see if I can't get some of the guys to give it a whirl tomorrow at lunch. I want to attack with my Troglodite Zombie!

so is this the thread where I admit to having become addicted to Heroclix? My 12 year old and I play almost every night now.

That does look like fun. I remember playing "Marvel Superheroes" in highschool. Lot of fun.

Cam...sad to see you have been sucked in, but anytime you are coming to Dallas, be sure to bring your guys. It's so much fun, isn't it?

Yes. Heroclix. I too fell into that evil web, if but for one weekend. It was all the rage at GenCon this year. Fun, quick, simple, and easy. Can't ask more for a game like that.

Yeah, it's a ball, and addictive as hell. I have to stop myself from going to the comic book store and buying tons of booster packs while my son's at school.

It doesn't help that in the first four packs I bought I got a unique figure. Now I'm hooked.

Question... are there actually other adults you play with down in Dallas? At the store here, it's a bunch of 12-16 year olds... and I just don't want to feel that pathetic.

I understand that, but it's still a little pathetic to "play with your mannies" (as my wife says) and then have a cracked-voice 12 year old turn to you and say "Sir, you think you could give me a ride home?" Nope... I'll just play at home.

BTW, anybody else think the Heroclix stuff would translate very well into a baseball game? I've been thinking about it for a few days now, and I think it could be done very well.

Cam,

Yes, there are actual adults who play Heroclix in Dallas. I even know a few of them. A few of my buddies and I play at lunch at least once a week. And the one tournament that I went to had some adults playing.

As far as sports clix...that was what everyone thought the "big annoucement" at GenCon was going to be. I expect we will see it at some point, especially with WizKids being bought by Topps and all. It would be fun. Very fun.

Sci-fi convention, AKA extreme geek-fest. Some of the best times of my life were had geek-fests like that, though.

The Big Announcement at GenCon was White Wolf announcing after 14 odd years of inspiring goths everywhere (and freaking out just as many other normal folks), the existing storyline of the World of Darkness (Vampire, Werewolf and Mage) would be wrapped up by end of year.

Cam: Look for a game called MLB Showdown, put out by WotC. And prepare to lose your soul

A Collectible Card Baseball game (with some die rolling)

that sounds cool, but I really like the idea of a Heroclix type miniature for players. I could pick up an Experienced Nomar with Super Senses.

sweeeeeeeettttt.

The big Whizkids announcement was that they were revamping Mage Knight.

Am I the only one collecting Indy Clix?

I'm just happy I managed to pick up my Veteran Hellboy by chance, in a booster pack!

I have some. Hellboy is a great figure. I have Judge Death. He's hard to get used to playing, but he's deadly.
