Reality TV

Okay, be honest now, who's actually watched more than 15 minutes of this crap (er programming), and if so, why?

I voted for the under 90 response. Want reality, watch CNN or Fox News.

Couldn't live without it..

I take a sick fascination in other people's misery I suppose if I dig for the very source of it all..

I watch it because it's the only thing on. Plus they put it on right before or right after shows I do try to watch (24, Bernie Mac, etc.) SO basically, my official responce is "I watch because if I change the channel, I might forget to turn back for the show I DO what to see."

Watch it often. Can't really say I follow any of the current ones religously, but I'll watch it when it's on. It can be entertaining.

Please save the lectures. People who enjoy thinking that reality TV is somehow beneath them inevitably are big fans of something equally stupid, like Star Trek or Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

(Oh christ, now I'm going to have to listen to someone explain how brilliant the singing episode was.)

How about a middle of the line option like:

Watch it when there is nothing else on and it happens to catch my attention at a particular moment when bumping the channels instead of watching commercials during the sports program that is on.

Does that count?

heck, I haven't watched more than a couple of hours of TV (not including movie rentals) since the World Series. I'd much rather play computer games or read a book.

nope, don't watch this garbage.

never seen even a millisecond of one show EXCEPT - my mom was visiting a couple months ago, and she HAD to watch Big Brother (she wouldn't have come to visit if we didn't agree to let her watch it).

I left the room when it came on. I came in to say hello a bit later, and I couldn't stay in the room for more than 2 minutes. It was just so completely and utterly ridiculous.

Really, truly...if I was God and I saw one of these "reality" shows, I'm pretty sure that I would just decide that this whole "human being" thing just wasn't going to ever work, and I'd pull the plug on the whole blooming experiment.

Couldn't have said it better. New one starts Feb 13th. I also enjoyed Temptation island and I will probably watch the last episode of Joe Millionaire.

The grand total of reality tv ive seen amounts to maybe an hour. Needless to say I went for the IQ under 90 answer.

I am not quite sure what category it falls in to, but I enjoy shows like Monster Garage, and the other shows on Discovery (and others) where people build machines.

I guess that "reality tv" probably pertains most to silly people doing silly things, rather than real people dancing with science for pleasure.

I watch several of the shows. The love interest shows, American Idol and the Mole are the ones I watch the most. My wife and I love to pick the winners. It is a family thing. I can't get her to watch sports with me, so this to me is the second best thing.

Some reality shows are horrible. I like others. I think The Mole is fascinating. I like American Idol somewhat, though I only watched the last 10 minutes of the first season. I caught the first episode of this season by chance and laughed my head off at the auditions. Captured my interest a bit so I kept up with it. Of course, now Im in love with Julia Demato

I like some seasons of The Real World, but most of the newer ones I despise, and I dont like Road Rules at all. I do however like the little Challenges they do between Real World and Road Rules casts.

All the other reality shows like Big Brother, Joe Millionaire, Bachelorwhatever I dont care for in the slightest. I really think that you shouldnt hate something just because its a reality show. I agree some (lots) of them arent that good, but some of them are quite entertaining. I watch TV to be entertained so that works out nicely

I also dont understand the need to insult someone that likes something you dont (ie only people with IQ < 90 watch them). Im sure I dislike some of the stuff some of you guys watch, but hey, I dont think you are dumb for liking it. Its called taste, and thank heavens we all have different tastes.

I do.

Seriously, some of the original "reality" shows (like Road Rules) were OK. The recent crop of shows, that simply reward and glorify people for being the biggest bunch of assholes they can possibly be, are trash. Bring back Star Search ... oh wait, they did?
