The animated version of Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe is very, very good.
Liked those stories very much throughout childhood, and even read a couple again recently. They age well. |

Once again the Colossal Squid and Rectal Trout have been snubbed in favor of more mainstream characters.

I read them as a chid and only vaguely remember them. Might have to make a trip to the library. I too, though, remember enjoying them a great deal.

Good Books, but I remember the earlier live action and I can't help but see these turn into a different version of Neverending Story

Chronicles of Narnia box collection DVD set from PBS runs for $50, if I'm not mistaken!

Wow. What a pub. move for Disney (I know, I'm being cynical). But with all the buzz about Baptists boycotting Disney and Michael Eisner, etc., Disney picks up one of the literary gems and childhood favorites of Christendom. Brilliant.

I love this series. Not so sure I'm excited to see it in movie form - hope it doesn't kill the joy of the books for me.
there's a LOT of religious themes in the books - I'm sure that that's all going to get glossed over.

Pretty hard to take away the symbolim without straying too far off the premise Then again, it is Hollywood. Think we'll see a version of Pilgrim's Progress anytime soon? |

I absolutely LOVED those books when I was younger. I hope that Disney does them good and doesn't ruin them.
Damn, I think I'm going to need to reread the series now...

"Said Adamson: " 'The Chronicles of Narnia' were an important part of my childhood, just as they are to millions of fans around the world. I hope to bring to the screen a movie that is as real to the audience as Narnia was to me as a child."
Good to hear he has a personal experience with the books. I'd say it's necessary for the creative leader to have that, if any literary adaption is going to succeed.

Sadly, the movies will be "Disney-fied" and probably will be unwatchable to a grumpy Gus like me

if it's going to be an animated movie i'll pass. they'll include tons of unnecessary musicals and will most likely come up short trying to capture the magic of LOTR. i'm not a big fan of Disney movie's. i don't like family movies - movies that have cuddly wuddly characters and pointless songs, etc. rather, i like movies that for the most part appeal to everyone but leave out the fluff.

I hope Disney does this right too. These were my favorite books when I was a child. I must have read each of them 30 times. If Disney does make them musicals I will cut Mickey's throat.

There's already a film done by the BBC - my daughter brought the video home from the school library only a week ago. I suspect they did it as a TV series and then re-compiled into a single video - there were no obvious signs of it being made up of separate sections.
I found the acting wooden and the production quality very poor but Georgie loved the film and sat rivetted through nearly 3 hours of it.

What the hell is Turkish Delight anywho? I always assumed it was some kind of candy, but I was never certain...

I thought it was some sort of chococalte covered tastyness.
I was so sad when Aslan got strapped to that stone table. What was that table called? |

I didn't know the difference between "Turkish" and "turkey" at the time, so I thought it was some sort of tasty meatball.
