Question FOF4: Gameplans

I just got back to playing around with FOF4 and I was wondering if anyone has done any tinkering with the gameplans. There is so much information to input that I'm wondering if it is worth the time to take to develop gameplans or let the "coach" handle it. I was going to try and develop a run oriented, but balance attack. There is so much to input that I wonder if I should go through the trouble or it's easier than I think it is.

Yeah, I'm there with you. I've always liked Morgado's system, but I was wondering what other people use. The big thing, though, is not just what people use, but why they use it. I would like to know how the system works, why it's effective, and why it might be better then some other alternative. If there's any knock on FOF that I might give it is that you're given a lot of info to sort through, and unless you have a keen knack for spotting tendencies, it's hard to tell exactly whether your situation can be attributed to your game play, your play calling (if you coach), your personel, development, your opponent any given week, or just dumb luck. Anyone else care to comment on this?

I hoping to get more input from the forum. I guess this is not an important enough topic to have a discussion on.

Do I sense a hint of sarcasm? It gets a little frustrating for me at times here as well. I wish that there was a big response to some posts which pose legitimate questions. But hey, you should know, you've been here a while. Anyway, I'll get back to FOF4 (it's been a while since I picked it up) and try some things out. Good luck getting some feedback.

guys, go dig in the strategy section for a few systems.

I have not delved too deeply ino the FOF4 gameplan because it is deep and you can't save plans. I mentioned this to Jim in an email. His reply was "That was something I really wanted to get into the original release, but ran out of time. It's still under consideration if there's a major update in the future." So there is hope.

Do you think there should be an option for simplier gameplans?

I let the computer set the defensive game plans. I set the offensive. I set up a pretty even distribution of run direction and pass length. (Meaning I have more outside runs and longer passes than the computer recommends).

During the season, I leave most of it alone. However, I fiddle with the run/pass percentages a lot. I look at box scores to see who is hot and try to play to their strengths. Also, if my RB or QB is injured, I will switch the gameplan accordingly (at extremes, I will go from 30%-70% running on first & ten. I tend, however, to stay between 45%-65% in most situations).

The big improvement in FOF4 that I enjoy is the ability to set lineups. I have no problem playing my FB as my #1 RB when he is the #1 RB on the team. I also like having a short yardage option and a scatback option to plug into certain situations and formations.

I don't have a template system, though, because I cater my system to my players and situation.

I don't think so, but that is purely a guess. You can simplify gameplans by making a master and using the "set all" feature.
