FOF4: problem with printouts

I recently re-installed FOF4 onto my new CPU - a laptop running Windows NT and a newer version of MS Word.

I'm having troubles now getting FOF4 printouts to work properly. I set up a "generic/text" printer, and am able to print to files okay. However, when I open up these files in MS Word, I have a weird problem. The first character of each line of text is missing.

Does this sound familiar? Has anyone found a solution?

(To my knowledge, I have not done anything differently than I did with my old computer running FOF4... so I'm assuming this is somehow connected to the new upgrades)

Thanks in advance for any help...

How do the files look when opening them with Notepad? If it's the same then it's probably something with the printer driver.

Thanks for the sleuthing, 3ric... the same problem shows up in NotePad, so it seems to be an FOF4 or printer problem, not a MS Word problem.

No, I would guess that replacing the printer driver would be the way to go, but Windows don't give you that option.

There's a hardcore way to go about it, though.

I'll attach my Windows 2000 driver file (Generic/text) and you can try with replacing your file with this one.

I found my file in the "C:\WINNT\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3" directory, try search for "UNIDRV.DLL" in your c:\winnt directory. Rename it to "UNIDRV.DLL.BAK" or whatever.

Copy this file into the same directory and try printing to a file.

I have no idea if this helps, but it's worth a try anyway.
