Wow, I just got back from a four day business trip there yesterday. I had a hotel right on Bourbon Street. I must say that thank goodness sleep wasn't a requirement of my trip as I did not seem to get very much. BTW, I love beeds and women that love beeds!

Ah the Big Easy, hope to get there someday, will have to keep my girlfriend close, she tends to be one of those bead lovers...

New Orleans was fantastic as a single guy. I can't imagine going there with my wife.

I'll be going there later today (Saturday) for the first time. I'm looking forward to checking it out.

I've lived here for the past 2 and half years with my wife who was born and raised here. Fortunately, she is past her bead loving phase except when we are home alone . It is an awesome city, with the only major problem being how we are going to raise kids here when we decide to have them. But for the single guy or gal, or a young liberated couple it is a great place to visit or live.

If you are planning on going to New Orleans, be aware that the summers can be very hot. New Orleans is also actually below sea level and near some very swampy areas (I'm sure you remember I-10 on the western side of NO near LaPlace). The heat, coupled with the swampiness makes for a very high, sticky humidity. It can be quite a shock, and can make life miserable for those not used to it or not expecting it. I grew up in Atlanta, so I was somewhat used to 95 degree summers and high humidity and there were times that it was nearly unbearable.

Probably late June trough mid-late August are the times when it is the worst. I think the Jazz festival is in April. If you like jazz, it is an excellent time to visit. Hell, even if you don't like jazz it is a good time to go.

I won a trip to New Orleans from work and will be going at the end of March. We'll be staying right off Bourbon Street, but I'm going with my wife so beads will NOT be an option.

I can't bring my wife to New Orleans. I don't think we'd have a suitcase big enough to bring back all the beads...
