Somehow, "holy heck" doesn't seem like a strong enough reaction.

*chuckles* I know anything worse would be censored. I'm still stunned.

does vnh mean something? I thought it was the equivalent of "jdsf;adsf". Maybe very nice hand? If so, then I retract my above statement. |

It means "very nice hand." It also, though unbeknownst to most people, means "I am a dork."

I don't think I'd of touched that hand to begin with, but it's a tough break either way....

So, if you say, "vvvvnh", does that mean you're saying, "I'm a dorkity dork dork dork"? |

They other thing I find amusing, at least at PokerStars, are the people that show up with either "scary" pictures or pictures of presumably themselves as their icon. Combine that with the "way cool" names and it's nirvana. I can't tell you how many times I'll come across a "chipking", "allinman", or a "cashmoneybling"...

In the end, it was a very tough beat that could have been avoided by not entering the pot in the first place. Calling a pre-flop raise with Q2s is definitely a negative EV play.

I agree with what Vic said here. When I read through the log, the first thing I thought was "What the hell is hhe doing calling a raise with Q2s?" And I use "nh" when someone beats me who played a hand they really should not have...so that they'll keep doing it (and end up losing more than winning). |

I'm glad that QED was there to tell us that a royal flush is a very nice hand. I wouldn't have known that otherwise.

As not to completely thread jack the thread I will agree Fozzie you really shouldn't have ever been in that hand to lose it. Now on to a quick comment about talking to players who play awful hands. (Not you Fozzie ) I don't understand the people that go nuts when they get their AA cracked by 94o or something along those lines. Sure they are frustrated by the beat, but do they really want those people playing hands differently? They say they can't believe an idiot would call a preflop raies with 94o, but before the hand started you can be damn sure if he was holding A's and knew the other guy was holding 94o he would want him to call. Hell he would really hope he would 3 bet it. Screaming at the players that play their hands poorly only serves to make the screamer look like a jack ass, possibly cause the bad players to play better, and even possibly drive them away from the table which is bad for everyone. I get frustrated like everyone else when I suffer a bad beat, but I hope that guys makes the exact same play the next time so I can hopefully win my money back. |

primelord,
Exactly. When I have a hand beat by a hand that had no business being in there, I always say (and I never say anything different) is "nh". Of course, if you saw my real reaction sitting at my computer... But all the other people sitting at the table see from me is "nh", and hopefully they will continue to play poorly. In my case, I don't normally play Q2, even Q2 suited as in this hand I had folded about the lst 25.. and in the small blind, it didn't cost THAT much to take a look. When the Q2 both paired up on the flop.. I was grateful. Then, the 3rd queen on the turn, and I was happy as a pig in mud.. then when he raised me on the river, I thought it was money from heaven.
Oops.

I agree, after the flop, you appear to be gold. I'm talking about the pre-flop action, calling a raise in the small blind with Q2s. You're playing a crap hand, out of position, and you don't have implied odds to draw out to any type of a hand (OK, I guess the 3rd nut flush if 2 clubs flop). If you had 8 or 9 people seeing the flop, you MIGHT have the implied odds to call with such a hand, but even then it's probably -EV in the long run. |

"it didn't cost THAT much to take a look"
I wish I could get back all of the money I have lost because it didn't cost that much to take a look. It adds up fairly quickly. In the long run, yes, it does cost that much to take a look. |
