Looking for a picture editor

I have done a quick search on the internet trying to find a basic free picture editor that will allow me to stich together two pictures (useing cut and past is fine). No luck yet so I though I would as the wise men of FOFC.

ZDNET.com has always helped me out of jams when I needed a particular tool to help me right now (or for 30 days. ) Good luck.

say do a search for Paint shop pro, they give you a 30 day trial on one of the best image editors out there.

other than photo shop there isn't another software package close to this.

I am using the 30-day trial of Adobe Paint Shop Elements. I little more simple than Paint Shop Pro and it does what I need.

Have any of you guys used GIMP? Its open source, GNU licensed, and FREE. It is as good or better than Adobe.

How's the work coming along on the Windows version of it? I haven't followed them for awhile. Otherwise, I definitely agree with Tasan that it's a very powerful tool. From the limited amount of time I had with it, quite a bit of its interface was very similar to Photoshop.

I'd say the windows version is as good or better than Photoshop now. Highly recommended.
