Defense > Offense
Defense > Offense.
I've always been on the mend before, but the game last night just blew me away. I've watched a handful of Raiders games this year as I have Bucs games so I was aware of just how good each team's strength really was. Coming into the game I felt the Raiders would win in a very close ballgame but after the debacle I witnessed tonight, I fully support the notion that defense wins championships. Now, if I can only explain how the Rams won the Superbown a few years back. Any thoughts?

Every dog his its day. Serviceable offense and a great defense will keep you in any game in this era of the NFL. Defense has evolved greatly over the last 12-15 years with the introduction of zone blitzing, the increase of athleticism particularly in defensive tackles. Many years ago, their job was simply to plug up the middle.
Offenses will have to catch up now.

Well, first off, they got kinda lucky -- second, the Titans offense decided not to play the first half (kidna like they are now actaully). Basically, though, the key play was Isaac Bruce's adjustment to a HORRIBLY undethrown pass that he then took for a TD -- and the Titans needing one more yard to send the game to OT. Basically it was a game that featured a very good, but not nearly as dominant defense against a very good offense and an average defense against a non-existent offense. |
