Cool MIJB's Cleveland Cohesion Challenge (FOF2)

----------------
First some copy 'n' pasting. The stuff is from the old (green screens) forum.
----------------

I'll bring togheter 52 rookies for 7 years, we'll see what happens in 2006, when all 7-year deals end.
House rules?
I wont't write them down, I'll play as honest as possible.

First I have to get some sidekicks togheter:
Max Lyon (37) is the lead scout.
QB VERY GOOD_______DL VERY GOOD
RB FAIR________________LB GOOD
R FAIR________________2nd GOOD
OL VERY GOOD_______young FAIR
K GOOD

Joey Vardell (44) is the head coach.
QB VERY GOOD_______K FAIR
RB FAIR________________young GOOD
R VERY GOOD_________motiv. FAIR
OL FAIR________________disc. GOOD
DL GOOD________________OPC GOOD
LB FAIR________________DPC GOOD
2nd POOR______________inj. GOOD

The ticket prices go all down a little bit.
The expansion draft gives us all untradeble players, except for Vincent Brisby, he goes to San Diego for the #70 overall draft pick.
All other players got released.
The 22 draft picks we have (from 1999, 2000 and 2001) I'm not happy with.
I want to draft a full offensive starting line-up so I only need 13 draft picks form 1999.
After several trades, I end up with:
#1, #15, #27, #32, #43, #50, #51, #55
#63, #70, #74, #76, #86.

We draft as follows:
#1 QB Shawn Lichter EXCELLENT
#15 RB Zach Perry VERY GOOD
#27 WR Bobby Morgenstern EXCELLENT
#32 WR Alex Stahl FAIR
#43 C Austin Elliot EXCELLENT
#50 T Sammie Pritchett FAIR
#51 T Lawrence Dawkins VERY GOOD
#55 G Emmitt Hines VERY GOOD
#63 FB Quinn Angelou GOOD
#70 G Travis Humphries VERY GOOD
#74 TE Roderick Starks EXCELLENT
#76 K Clifton Malone FAIR
#86 P Horace Cassidy VERY GOOD

First we sign 24 defensive players and 15 offensive backups to 7-year minimum deals (surprised? probably not).
No it's time to sign the drafties to 7-year deals...

Let's just hope this is good enough...

Exhbition (I expect 1-3 at best):
Cleveland 24, Tampa Bay 21
Wow, first game ever and we win!

Minnesota 10, Cleveland 30
Beating the Vikings? How is it possible?

Chicago 23, Cleveland 28
Not bad, 3 in a row!

Cleveland 37, Philadelphia 14
I hope we can hold on to this, 4 wins in a row!

I can't believe it:
Our roster is POOR, all cohesions are only GOOD, we have an all rookie team, but we are the only franchise with a 4-0 record in the exhibition games!

Regular Season 1999:
Pittsburgh 17, Cleveland 14
With 2:00 on the clock we still lead, anyway we're back on earth now

Cleveland 38, Tennessee 24
Unbelievable, 2nd QB Holliday threw 5 TDs!

Cleveland 14, Baltimore 26
That's more like it, though MVP was Matt Stover with 4 FGs
Bad news: QB Lichter went OUT with a sprained neck (ouch!) I'll keep him ctive as 3rd QB. S Harden went OUT with a broken hand.

New England 40, Cleveland 10
Hope the guys don't think this is the way it should be

Cincinnati 13, Cleveland 7
I liked the exhibition better, Holliday threw 6(!) interceptions

Cleveland 17, Jacksonville 24
Taylor scored with 6 seconds to go, Holliday recover with 61%, 234yd, 2TD, 0int

Cleveland 27, St. Louis 24
Now that's the spirit, Stahl received for 147 yd

Cleveland 34, New Orleans 18
Not bad hey?

So half way, we are 3-5, 5th in the AC Central.
QB Shawn Lichter showed glimps of his excellence, Gary Holliday had one bad day, but replaced Lichter fairly.
RB Perry doesn't get the ball a lot, but he doesn't produce goods with it anyways.
WR Stahl is amongst the 500+yd receivers.
P Cassidy had 23 in20s, and 42yd avg.
We average 76 rush yards per game (30th) and 213 pass yards (19th).
We allow 166 rush yards (31st) and 229 pass yards (18th). We had 19 turnovers but forced also 16, margin -3 makes us 18th.
With 29% we score ba don 3rd down, but also allow only 31%.

Good news: Shawn Lichter can start again!

Regular Season 1999 (second half):
Baltimore 3, Cleveland 14
Brandon took 2 interceptions, Lichter completed only 35%, but sweet revenge it was for the previous game

Cleveland 38, Pittsburgh 14
Oh my, what's going on? Cleveland is 5-5? Lichter threw 4 TDs, finally a MVP awarded for him

Carolina 23, Cleveland 10
Perry made his big show, 128yd for 8.5 avg, not bad, we still hope for 4 victories as we are 5-6 now

Tennessee 31, Cleveland 17
Entertaining 4Q with 31 points total, Lichter still has only 1 interception in 5 starts

Cleveland 30, San Diego 24
Page 2 interceptions, Malone 2 50yd FGs

Cleveland 17, Cincinatti 45
They were 12-1 already, so no big deal, our QBs totalled almost 300yd as Lichter ahd his off day with 3 interceptions

Jacksonville 34, Cleveland 20
Not much to tell, we're out of the playoff race, as we are 6-9 now

Indianapolis 12, Cleveland 24
Page had 2 interceptions, one was a TD, this was only our 2nd home win in the regular season

Cincinnati won the Bowl with 24-21 over Green Bay!

We end the season with a 7-9 record and only 6th in the AC Central, weird.
Horace Cassidy was Awarded as All-League 2nd team Punter.
Stats:
QB Shawn Lichter was rated at 79.4, as in 9 starts he had 1719yd, 16 TDs, 45% and 6 int.
QB Gary Holliday started 7 times and was rated 68.5 as he had 1665yd, 16 TDs, 16 int and 52%.
RB Zach Perry ran 183 times for a total of 701yd, 4 TDs and 3.8 avg.
WR Stahl recepted 69 times for a total of 962yd and 4 TDs.
WR Morgenstern recepted 59 times for a total of 945yd and 6 TDs.
WR McLain recepted 49 times for a total of 784yd and 13 TDs. He Leads the league in TD receptions!
Kirkaldie averaged 7.8 PRyd and 26.8 KRyd.
Ike Banks averaged 23.2 KRyd.
K Malone scored only 13 FGs, but had only 19 attempts, but he completed all 35 PATs.
P Horace Cassidy averaged 41yd and made 37 in20s.
DE Sltzker made 14.0 sacks, league top10 that is.
S Page had 5 interceptions.
LB Vinny Hall lead the team with 94 tackles, Marlon Newsome had 92 tackles.

We tied 12th in the Power Ratings of the whole league, 7th in the AC.
We forced 33 opponent turnovers (5th in league).
Also our opponents had 31% on 3rd down (4th in the league).

So our first season is over.
We can be proud, an expansion team with 52 rookies socring a 7-9 record?
Unbelievable.
Especially as our exhibition season was 4-0, including an exhibition win over NC runners-up Minnesota.

We're ready for a playoff spot in 2000, mark my words!

An easy start of 2000.
We can go directly to training camp.
Our roster is valued POOR
Our cohesions are all GOOD, except for the defensive line, which is VERY GOOD
Up to the exhibition 2000:

Cleveland 0, Seattle 13
What the? 0 points?

Chicago 20, Cleveland 23
That's more like it, Zach Parry was great with 127yd 8.5 avg

Cleveland 3, Minnesota 34
Revenge for the Vikings last year humiliation

Carolina 37, Cleveland 17
Not very good, but last year's 4-0 didn't mena we were of playoff caliber, so why not now the opposite?

Looking back ,only starting Tackle Sammie Pritchett got injured (hip pointer), he's questionable for the next game.

Cleveland 7, Philadelphia 13
We were really bad today, the Eagles would have lost to every other team

Cleveland 14, Jacksonville 31
None of our top 3 receivers catched any passes today, 5th WR Ike Banks took two 40yd TD receptions

Baltimore 31, Cleveland 24
Shawn Lichter was second in the league this week in passing yards (279yd), still not a good result
Bad news: CB Mitchell Page has a torn bisecps muscle, we made him Injured Reserve

Cleveland 21, Pittsburgh 27
We were leading 21-17 with 1:30 to go, but you can see the result, Stahl had a great day with 130yd receiving
Bad news: DT Mo Van Pelt got injured (torn knee cartilage), he'll be inactive for some weeks

Tennessee 3, Cleveland 34
Finally! FB Angelou was good with 80yd on 10 attempts including a 32yd TD

Cleveland 42, Cincinnati 28
Did you see that? we beat the champions in their own stadium, Darryll Harden was MVp with two Int return TDs
Bad news: LB Vinny Hall went Injured Reserve (Torn Rotator Cuff), also Van Pelt is placed on Injured Reserve

Cleveland 13, Tennessee 20
Sweet revenge for the Titans? Maybe, but we should have won at least one game more

Miami 13, Cleveland 27
Perry ran for 105yd, and ahd the game winning TD

So, half way, our record is 3-5.
Not bad, but we are dea last in the division, all other teams have lost only 3 games.
QB Lichter is passing so-so with a 75 rating, 7 int in 8 games, but only 45% complete, 11 TDs and 190yd per game.
CB Harden is high on the interceptions list with 3.
The team stats are not good, both in rush and pass yards per game, we are within the worst 15 teams.
Only our pass defense seeems to be a great help.
Also we forced 4 turn overs more than we gave away.
And just like last year, our oppontents have troubles with 3rd downs 33% only.

Regular Season 2000 (second half):
Cleveland 30, NY Giants 23
Injured Reserve replacement Bryant Hansen was chosen MVP after he picked up an interception and also a fumble return TD

Jacksonville 7, Cleveland 17
And then we were 5-5 again, with 1 sack and 1 interception Hansen was MVP again.
Lichter was not very lucky today, of 46 attempts only 19 completed, but also 263yd and 2 TDs
Bad News: our star center Elliot is out with a hyperextended knee

Cleveland 32, Dallas 28
Dallas was 7-2 before the game, Morgenstern had his best game ever with 149yd on 4 receptions and 2 TDs, but Lichter's 313yd wasn't bad either

Pittsburgh 14, Cleveland 19
What's this? a 5-win streak? yes it is!

NY Giants 35, Cleveland 10
We're back, it was nice up there though, we'll be back soon! Horace Cassidy (the punter) was our best player today

Cleveland 14, Baltimore 17
We're giving it away, again! come on boys!

Cincinnati 21, Cleveland 28
We beat the champs again, nice! We have to win our last game for playoff chances.
If we win we have big chances as our conference record is better than most of our co-competitiors

Seattle 10, Cleveland 3
We're out of the playoffs

The season was exciting, as we started bad and recoverd with a 5-win streak.
We ended up 8-8, 4th in the division among 3 other teasm with an 8-8 record.
At least we ended up in front of the Bengals and the Steelers.

Bye the way, Jaguars beat Redskins 32-7 in the Bowl.

No awards this year.
Stats:
QB Shawn Lester ended his first complete season with a 78.7 rating, 25 TDs, 3259yd, 16 interceptions and 49% completed.
RB Zach Perry made 689yd rushing wiht 5 TDs for only 3.2yd per attempt.
WR Bobby Morgenstern leads the league with 10 receiving TDs.

About our performance this year, if we would have won one more game, we would have made the playoffs.
In 2001, we dream on, we are going to make the playoffs!

2001 Pre-season:
First some renegotiations (some contracts were ending at the end of the season.)
Then FA 20 steps skipping and draft skipping.

Training Camp is done.

Exhibition 2001:

Philadelphia 24, Cleveland 34
Stahl, Perry and Lichter were huge, though Vinny Hall didn't play, he's still out for about 10 weeks

Detroit 21, Cleveland 18
Lichter is gonna be hot this season!

Oakland 16, Cleveland 3
Lichter is only human

Cleveland 33, Green Bay 27
Shanw Lichter today? 13 of 17, 209yd, 1 TD, 1 int

Regular Season 2001:
Seattle 12, Cleveland 38
Did I ever tell ya that Zack Perry actually is a great running back?

Cleveland 13, Pittsburgh 34
Did I ever tell ya that Zack Perry actually is a poor running back?

Cleveland 20 ,Jacksonville 28
Would you believe this? Shawn Lichter threw for 411 yards, 2 TDs, 64% complete and also 5(?) interceptions?

Kansas City 14, Cleveland 6
What do you mean with: "you fell asleep during the game, sir" this game was not boring at all, Dawkins was blocking excel... Wait? Wasn't he inactive?

Baltimore 14, Cleveland 28
I hope Paul Justin still wants to play next weak, because 8 sacks in one day...

Cincinnati 15, Cleveland 34
No way are the Bengals gonna win their second Bowl in 3 years! 5-1 does not mean you're top favorite!
Zach Perry (165yd and 3 TDs) is the man who beat you, remeber that name, we'll see you back soon!

Detroit 14, Cleveland 44
Ah... sweet revenge... 9 sacks, 357 passing yards, 3 interceptions... what a game

Cleveland 21, Tampa Bay 45
Ouch!

Okay, okay.
We are 4-4 half way, but the third AC wild card currently goes to a 4-4 team so we still are close to a playoff spot.
QB Shawn Lichter is still revoring from his 5 interception day.
RB Zack Perry's 5.3yd per attempt is not bad.
WR's Morgenstern and Stahl are ready for their first 1000yd seasons.
Backup DE Bryant Webb made 8.5 sacks, time for a starting job then?
C Austin Elliot's 21 KRBs are not bad with 46% and only 3 sacks.
Now we still have to win 5 more games...

Regular Season 2001 (second half):
Pittsburgh 32, Cleveland 45
S-H-A-W-N-L-I-C-H-T-E-R... Shawn Lichter! (18 for 27, 330yd, 4 TD). Hey! Why is S Darryl Harden MVP with only 1 interception?

Tennessee 13, Cleveland 34
We're not there yet, but we're coming closer... Also, Shawn Lichter finally was chosen MVP

Cleveland 8, New England 9
Did I miss anything? Well, that's all right... It can't be good every day

Cleveland 24, Tennessee 14
Bad news: CB Twente went out for the season, good news? we won!

Cleveland 24, Green Bay 27
Oh oh...

Cleveland 20, Baltimore 17
We are 8-6, still one more...

Cleveland 10, Cincinnati 16
Okay, you the Bengals are big again (12-3), but we will meat again, very soon...

Jacksonville 14, Cleveland 17
Indianapolis Colts, here we come! Quinn Angelou was the MVP today, he's our fullback... A fullback getting MVP? Wow!

Playoffs 2001:
Cleveland 16, Indianapolis 21
Oh well... At least we've made it now

Well the results are getting better and better now.
This year's 9-7 was enough for AC Central's second place behind Bowl Winners... Cincinnati Bengals.

QB Shawn Lichter still is a talent to come, as his 75 rating, 48%, 18 int, 25 TD, 3356yd season was not great.
RB Zack Perry did fine for a RB that get's little number of balls. 831yd and 7 TD is fine on 191 attempts.
WR Alex Stahl had 10 TDs, but he did not break the 1000yd. Also Morgenstern finsihed again with about 950yd.
WR (KR) Ike Banks turns out to be one of the league's best kickoff returners. He made 2 TDs and averaged 27yd.
DE Webb (13.0) and Eamigh (12.5) sacked a lot, while Harden had his second straight 5 interceptions season.
C Elliot made 32 KRBs (39%) and allowed 5 sacks, while T Dawkins had 15 KRBs (55%!) and 12 sacks in only 11 games.
And our scout keeps on telling Dawkins is equal in pass and run blocking!
Anyways,
no awards again,
on we go to 2002.
7-9, 8-8, 9-7...
Should be 10-6, hey?

2002 Preseason:
Dan Marino ,Steve Young, Barry Sanders and Morton Anderson finally retired.
But since they're not on my team, hurray!
Some negotiations on 2002 ending contracts.
Skipping FA and Draft (trading the pics) and we're on to the training camp.

Exhibition Season 2002:

Cleveland 13, Buffalo 21
enough said...

Cleveland 20, Detroit 16
The Lions' offense had a day off with the exception of Antowain Smith

St. Louis 33 OT, Cleveland 27
bad luck happens ones in a while

Green Bay 24, Cleveland 21
Just be happy Lichter had his worst day in the preseason and not in the regular season

The cohesion ratings are improving step by step, we're VERY GOOD at all four categories now.
Our roster still has the lowest value: POOR (2).
Oh well, look at our history, who complains now hey?

Regular Season 2002 (first half):
Baltimore 39, Cleveland 29
No fair, they have Paul Justin! Our Lichter still doesn't convince the fans with 24 for 40, 322 yd, 3 TD, 2 Int. Luckily the OL allowed only 2 sacks

Cleveland 30, St. Louis 20
You see? The regular season always proves who the better team is! Actually the Rams were better but who cares in Cleveland about that?

Cleveland 27, Tennessee 17
They have Steve McNair, whe Danny Burmester, our backup safety who intercepted two of Steve's passes!

Cleveland 10, Cincinnati 37
Oh well, they're the Bengals, they've won two of the last three Bowls

Carolina 24, Cleveland 14
Excuse: they have the NFC's best power rating

Cleveland 21, Baltimore 37
Hey! We were 9-7 last year, don't forget our fans expectations! And Paul Justin is also a bad excuse for losing to

Cleveland 31, New Orleans 28
A miracle!

Atlanta 35, Cleveland 26
Shawn Lichter tried to acquire the pass attempts record today, he had 53, but needed 7 more.
Shawn, do you see that guy whe call Zack Perry? who don't you give him some balls too next match, hey? Do we have an agreement here? Good!

So we're 3-5 half way. We don't have the roster for 6-2, we never had, but we do have the history for it now.
So from now on:
1. Shawn Lichter throws 1 interception per game less and passes one TD extra,
2. Zach Perry get's more balls and runs 1.5 yards more per attempt,
3. Sammie Pritchett stops giving away sacks,
4. no key players get injured anymore!

Regular Season 2002 (second half):
Cincinnati 27, Cleveland 17
Okay, okay, so did I forgot we had to play them twice! But from now on you are gonna win 7 straight games, understood?
(BTW Shawn, you're game is improving, keep this line and you will make it into the HoF.)

Cleveland 41, Jacksonville 10
Man, are those guys listening to me or what?

Pittsburgh 24, Cleveland 21
For the first time in 4 years we are favored to win, and you guys blew it! We still need 5 victories!

Jacksonville 43, Cleveland 17
Okay, no playoffs this year, but I do want to see some results now!

Cleveland 16, Pittsburgh 45
What the... You know what? upcoming games, only backups will play!

Tennessee 34, Cleveland 7
Well, that didn't do anything good...

Buffalo 14, Cleveland 31
Hey! Maybe not!

Cleveland 17, Oakland 12
Nice Mel (Kirkadie)! He returned 2 interceptions for 98 yards. Afterall, he is our returning specialist.

So season is over.
6-10.
Our worst record ever!
We ended 4th in the AFC Central, trailing 3 wins behind 9-7 playoff team Baltimore Ravens.
No individual awards.
I have no good performances to report so, on to 2003.

Pre-Season 2003
Uh oh, a expansion draft?
Any player I lose, will be traded back at any cost!
Five players needed to be named possible leavers.
We named 2nd FB Shepherd, 4th DT Woods, 7th LB Dole, 5th CB Sapp and 4th S Sharkey the eligable players.
Springfield...
Springfield?

SPRINGFIELD?

Yes, the Springfield Simpsons (renamed the mascot ) enter the NFL.
Anyways, the didn't want my backups, but they did get Terrell Davis (Denver put him on the list after a 1686yd 12 TD season),
Ed McCaffrey, Andre Hastings, Eric Kresser, Fred Lane ( sorry, but they did), Mike Mamula, Jamir Miller, Mike A. Jones, Rod Woodson and Orlando Thomas.

About the Cleveland Browns now, I extended the contracts of our punter, kicker, tight end, full-back and 1st quarterback Shawn Lichter.

The FA 20 step and was easy to skip, but the draft took more time, as I had to trade the draft picks away.
The training camp was not that hard...

Exhibition Season 2003:

San Francisco 20, Cleveland 19
Well, you can't get any closer than that, by the way, Lichter threw 11/19 for 214yd and 1 int, while Brandon had 2 interceptions

Arizona 9, Cleveland 21
Brandon had another interception, Hines had 4 KRBs, Webb 2 sacks, Page scored a 91yd KR TD,

Kansas City 24, Cleveland 34
Wayne took 2 sacks today for MVP, while WR Morgenstern had 129yd on 5 receptions (including a 92yd TD)

Cleveland 14, Philadelphia 21
Nothing to report except for the injury of DE Bryant Webb, who will miss 3-5 games

So, after a 2-2 exhibition record, we are ready to rally form a bad non-playoff season.
Our roster is now rated above Springfield's (strange, because they have Terrell Davis, also Kurt Warner know (the FOF2 Warner),
and drafted an excellent RB(?, with Davis on the team?) with current ratings good G and signed Lamar Thomas.)
Our cohesions have reached EXCELLENT at the Defensive Front and Passing.

Regular Season 2003 (first half):
Baltimore 38, Cleveland 21
They still have Paul Justin and also have Renaldo Wynn (6 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 FR TD), but also a game in wich Perry rushed 98yd+, Lichter passed 310yd+,
Morgenstern received 161yd and Newsome made 10 tackles
Bad News: 1999 All Pro punter Horace Cassidy is Out so we signed FA 2000 All Pro Tom Tupa

Miami 14, Cleveland 28
not a single good performance of the Browns players, while Dolphins' O.J. McDuffie received for 204yd on 11 catches
Bad News: fan favourite WR Stahl is doubtful, star T Dawkins is out

Cleveland 9, Tennessee 17
Kicker Clifton Malone scored 75% FGs, while Morgenstern is doing great, 106yd today

Jacksonville 13, Cleveland 28
The 3-0 Jaguars didn't know what happened to them! Shawn Lichter, 17/27 for 288yd and 4 TD (also 2 Int, but who cares after a big win)
and Morgenstern had 127yd receiving, though FB Angelou is overwhelming RB Perry with 52yd vs. only 24yd!
Bad News: DT Kyle Muldoon went out for the season, I signed 12yr vet. Chad Hennings to replace him

Cleveland 49, Cincinnati 35
The Bengals were looking big again (4-0 record) and thought they had already won their 3rd Bowl in 4 yrs,
but then Shawn Lichter came to town and passed 21 of 36 for 394yd and 6 (s-i-x) TDs!
The Bengals' QB Jeff Blake wasn't bad either, 29 of 58 for 558(!)yd and 5 TDs

Oakland 14, Cleveland 24
Okay guys, I know the fans expected too much of you, but I think only Kenyon Wayne played well today

Arizona 10, Cleveland 34
Wow, Ike Banks scored a 100yd kickoff return TD, Myron Twente a 82yd interception return TD and Morgenstern received for 164yd (no TD)

Cleveland 15, Washington 34
You call that a rushing game? You guys totalled 22 yards rushing today!
What? What did you say Ike? Yes, I saw your excellent kickoff returning and I also saw 413 passing yards, but the rushing was awful today

So, my dear readers, we're 5-3 now, not that bad at all, but not enough for a playoff spot (only 5th in the division.)
After all, we are playing in the league's best division: AFC Central.
I should not complain about Shawn Lichter, throwing 2254yd in 8 games aint that bad, 16 TD not either, but 11 interceptions and a 49% completing?
RB Zack Perry is having his toughest season of his career, with only 319yd halfway.
The receiving corps: TE Starks (291yd & 3 TD), 4thWR Swinford (420yd, 3 TD), 3rdWR McLain (446yd, 5 TD)
and 1stWR Morgenstern (862yd & 3 TD) isn't doing that bad.
The defense has no big performers, except for 3rd CB Sammie Sapp with 4 int's.
The fans are dreaming of a playoff appearence, and I can't say they are wrong, we have beaten three divisional leaders:
the 7-2 Bengals, the 5-3 Cardinals and the 6-2 Dolphins.
Also we beat the 6-3 Jaguars and the 3-5 Raiders, while we lost to the 5-3 Redskins, 5-3 Titans and 6-3 Ravens.

The second half schedule:
@ Steelers (0-8), vs Titans (5-3), @ Jaguars (6-3), @ Bills (1-7)
@ Eagles (2-6), @ Ravens (6-3), vs Steelers (0-8), vs Bengals (7-2)
4 wins isn't impossible, but it's gonna be very hard.

regular season 2003 (second half):

Cleveland 21, Pittsburgh 31
They were 0-8! How can we lose with 5.1 yd/rush and 7.6 yd/pass? And Austin, it's great you make 5 KRB, but do you really have to giveaway 2 sacks? Of course I know you allowed just 0.5/game before tonight

Tennessee 28, Cleveland 31
Nice, we currently have a playoff berth, but to clinch it, we still need another 3 wins. Nice job Shawn, 395yd isn't bad at all

Cleveland 28, Jacksonville 38
Ehr, Shawn, did you leave the field because you had a feeling that Holliday would throw a 39yd TD on his first pass?

Cleveland 17, Buffalo 41
What? they we're 2-9! I sure hope Humphries and Hines will be fit soon, because what you, Salpala showed? 4 sacks is more than your cantract is worth

Cleveland 20, Philadelphia 27
Do you guys realize that we need a 3-game winning streak now?

Cleveland 17, Baltimore 52
Well, Paul Justin is an excellent explanation, so are James Allen's 4 TD

Pittsburgh 13, Cleveland 27
about time!

Cincinnati 37, Cleveland 28
I guess the weak defense helped them out

Finishing the season 7-9 is pretty disturbing, though allowing 441 points (the most of all 32 franchises) is far too much.
397 points scoring is however the 4th best in the league.

Shawn Lichter had an outstanding season:
477 for 247 (52%), 4367 yd (9.2), 30 TD, 18 int.
This adds up to a career high 88.5 rating, but the league leader in yards and TD didn't get awarded.

Zach Perry continued as he used to run:
734yd (3.8), 4 TD

Bobby Morgenstern's receiving stats are however excellent:
81 receptions for 1,651 yards (20.3 avg.), 7 TD
As the league leader in yards he earned All League 1st Team honors.

The special team specialists ran wild:
Mel Kirkaldie: 19 punt returns, 335yd (17.6), 2 TD
Ike Banks: 39 kickoff returns,1,103yd (28.2), 2 TD

Marlon Newsome made 101 tackles,
Lamont Slutzker totalled 13.5 sacks,
Sammie Sapp caught 4 interceptions.

Austin Elliot had 29 KRB (38%), but allowed a career high 9 sacks
Sammie Pritchett made 18 KRB (49%), allowing 8 sacks
backup T.J. Bauer allowed only 2 sacks (he started 10 of 15 games)

I'm very conserned about the 2004 season despite our recent surpirses.

pre season 2004:

It's about time to raise ticket prices, 25% should be enough for the next 4 years.
We're still amongst the 10 cheapest teams.

No need for franchise player designations, also no need to hire a new sidekick.

Two ridicoulas trade offers for 2 of my star players, swiftly declined both.
All 52 players are signed throughout the 2005 season, with the exception of split end and fan favorite Alex Stahl.
Stahl was given a new contract, 4 years $20M.
And our punter, who's contract was expanded with one minimun $ year.
And our two guards, Hines' new deal 15M over 4 years, Humphries new contract is 12.5M over 4 years.

We skip the free agency period, until the last day (we have to renegociate some contracts expiring in 2005.)
There are a lot of draft picks we won't use,
together with a lot of 2005 picks, all will be traded for picks in 2006.

The following players were given extended contracts:
Zach Perry (RB), Austin Elliot (C) and Bobby Morgenstern (WR).

BTW, I just looked at the cohession ratings: EXCELLENT in all four categories.

I quick simmed the draft, on to training camp! (I decided to train less then normal on offense, the defense could really use a boost.)
The defensive backs' cohesion dropped to VERY GOOD.

Exhibition Season:

Cleveland 17, N.Y. Giants 20
Well defended, we even made 1 yard more then they did

Cleveland 20, Chicago 23
Chicago really shut our running game, but me still managed to gain 366yd

Cleveland 28, Springfield 22
Too bad this was an exhibition game, with only 1 second to play, Holliday found Morgenstern for the 20-22 TD, then Holliday found Swinford for 22, then Perry ran for the game winning TD in OT

Green Bay 26, Cleveland 29
"Holliday snaps the ball, he looks, he finds Morgensternnnnn... unbelievable, the Browns take the lead again!" Off course, the Packers needed

2-2, not bad, the nice part is the fact that all games were as close as an missed field goal.

2004 Regular Season (first half):

Cleveland 17, Baltimore 23
Zach Perry: 19 carries for 172yd, 2 TD
Shawn Lichter: 16/39 for 315yd, 0 TD, 5 interceptions

Cleveland 10, N.Y. Jets 17
I think Perry is having his break-out year at last: 18 carries for 97yd, 1 TD

Tennessee 28, Cleveland 41
sweet revenge, All Pro Bobby Morgenstern caught 10 passes for 170yd, 3 TD
Offensive Player of the week went to Shawn Lichter 21/33 for 352yd, 4 TD, 0 interceptions

Cleveland 25, Jacksonville 28
beaten by a kicker! well, what can you do against 3 50yd-ers and an OT 43yd-er?

Cincinnati 37, Cleveland 34
Another OT FG loss, can you believe it?

Cleveland 45, San Diego 35
We lead the league in points scored, thanks to Shawn Lichter's 6 TD! six touchdowns. BTW Ryan Leaf threw 5 of those. Off course Lichter won the offensive player of the week title.

Cleveland 7, Chicago 12
Good news: we didn't allow any TD
Bad news: we are 2-5 right now

Minnesota 29, Cleveland 24
Going from a 24-0 lead to a 29-24 loss!

First 8 games played, 2 won, 6 lost (all close losses.
We are 3rd in the league in points/game with 203 in 8 games. San Diego (204) and New England (205) do slightly better.

Shawn Lichter is 134/267 for 2,326yd, 17 TD, 9 interceptions.
Rated at 88.6, Lichter leads the league in passing TD and is 3rd in passing yards.

Zach Perry ran 118 times for 474yd (4.0), and 4 TD.

Bobby Morgenstern's 38 receptions for 671yd and 9 TD is not bad, 9 TD is the most in the league.

On defense these are the leaders:
MLB Newsome 45 tackles,
DE Eugene Eamigh 8.5 sacks (3rd in NFL),
S Danny Burmester 2 interceptions,
S Darryl Harden 2 interceptions.

Offensive Line:
Pritchett 4 KRB (25%), 7 sacks
Hines 11 KRB (44%), 3 sacks
Elliot 20 KRB (30%), 1 sack
Humphries 11 KRB (31%), 1 sack
Dawkins 8 KRB (32%), 5 sacks

Team stats:
Offense:
rushing yd/game 27th (99.2)
rushing yd/carry T-23rd (3.5)
passing yd/game 3rd (290.7)
passing yd/pass 2nd (8.8)

Defense:
rushing yd/game 13th (103.8)
rushing yd/carry T-6th (3.5)

passing yd/pass T-26th (7.9)

Turnovers:
Offense T-10th (10)
Defense T-12th (13)
Margin T-6th (3+)

3rd downs:
Offense T-23rd (33%)
Defense T-28th (41%)

What do you think, do these players deserve a continueing story (after almost 148 days?)

I think they do!

4 plyaers are suffering from injuries:
QB Shawn Lichter will play with extra protection for his broken nose.
Fan favorite WR Alex Stahl has almost recovered from his bruised ribcage, he will play nonetheless.
DT Kyle Muldoon is out, well what did you except with a dislocated knee?
CB Kris Branch suufers from a broken foot, but the medics think he can play. I'll let him heal on the inactive roster.

Pittsburgh (6-2, 1st in AFC) @ Cleveland (2-6)
Last year we showed them: 27-13 thanks to 4-0 turn overs.
Today we show 'em again: 34-16!
I can't give any stats since the game log got lost.
Bad news, backup DE Lamont Slutzker broke his tibia(?) and is out for the remainder of the season.
A huge loss as he made 1.0 sacks, 19 tackles in 9 games (6 starts.)

Cleveland (3-6) @ Tennessee (5-4)
At home we crunshed them 41-28.
Today we scored 37 points... and allowed 53. (Fifty-three!)
How about this:
4Q: 04:38 TEN - Raymond Kitna 17 pass from Steve McNair.
4Q: 04:38 TEN - Malcolm Hudson extra point.
4Q: 04:12 CLE - Ricardo Swinford 59 pass from Shawn Lichter.
4Q: 04:12 CLE - Quinn Angelou run for conversion.
4Q: 04:05 TEN - Dwayne Segui 74 fumble return.
4Q: 04:05 TEN - Malcolm Hudson extra point.
4Q: 03:38 TEN - Blaine Bishop 68 interception return.
4Q: 03:38 TEN - Malcolm Hudson extra point.
4Q: 02:00 TEN - Jim Everett 13 run.
4Q: 02:00 TEN - Malcolm Hudson extra point.
4Q: 00:50 CLE - Ike Banks 9 pass from Gary Holliday.
4Q: 00:50 CLE - Vincent Velthoen run for conversion.

WR Ricardo Swinford caught 8 passes for 192 yd and 2 TD.
We managed to take the lead in points with 27.4/game, Rams and Pats are close with 27.2/game.

Jacksonville (4-6) @ Cleveland (3-7)
And the Browns move up to 5th in the division with a 24-13 win!
WR Ricardo Swinford was chosen MVP thanks to 8 catches for 112 yd and 1 TD (gamewinning TD at 17-13 lead.)

New England (4-7) @ Cleveland (4-7)
That is the #3 @ #1 in points.
The #3 wins 22-21 thanks to a 28 yd TD pass with 51 sec left (and a failed 2pt conversion.)
RB Zach Perry is out for the season with some broken ribs (ouch!)
We sign Corey Walker to play 3rd violin at the RB position behind Brito and Velthoen.

Green Bay (5-7) @ Cleveland (4-8)
We managed to beat 'em some months ago with 29-26.
Our defense did even better today, by allowing just 20 points to help us to a astonishing... 3-20 defit?

Baltimore (5-8) @ Cleveland (4-9)
Last time we humiliated them here with 7-34.
Today we managed to win again: 17-13.
Special thanks to our starring CB Myron Twente for his game winning interception return TD and off course for leading our secondary to a allow 140yd passing.
Velthoen showed himself today and earns the starting RB job for next weekend.

Cleveland (5-9) @ Pittsburgh (7-7)
Making it a 2-0 record against them this year, would kill their playoff chances.
And we were happy to do so: 31-24! The humiliating 31-17 game-winning TD was caught by Alex Stahl, tossed by 3rd string QB Donnie Young.

Cleveland (6-9) @ Cincinnati (9-6)
#2 @ #1 in points (370 vs 387.)
We might destroy the Bengals playoff hopes today, if we beat 'em.
We lose the total points race, the Bengals win 37-28. he had the chances to win, but lost when Jason Elam clinched the deal with a 56yd FG with 3 mins to go.
We lost the game on turnovers (0-5!) as we outyarded them 490-212(!)

We finih the season playoff-less: 6-10 (5th AFC Central, 14th AFC, 27th NFL)

With 398 points we are the 3rd strongest offense, (Bengals 424, Cardiansl 405.)
With 407 points agianst we are the second weakest defense (Dolphins 471.)

Offensive yardage:
Rush/game 105.3 (NFL 24th)
yard/rush 3.8 (NFL 21st)
Pass/game 282.5 (NFL 2nd, AFC leader)
yard/pass 8.4 (NFL 2nd)

Defensive yardage:
Rush/game 109.5 (NFL 15th)
yard/rush 3.8 (NFL 14th)
Pass/game 247.4 (NFL 23rd)
yard/pass 6.8 (NFL 13th)

Turnovers:
give away 26 (NFL 21st)
take away 22 (NFL 23rd)
to margin -4 (NFL tied 20th/21st)

3rd down:
offense 38.4% (NFL 9th)
defense 37.8% (NFL 21st)

more to come...
