regular season 2003 (second half):
Cleveland 21, Pittsburgh 31 They were 0-8! How can we lose with 5.1 yd/rush and 7.6 yd/pass? And Austin, it's great you make 5 KRB, but do you really have to giveaway 2 sacks? Of course I know you allowed just 0.5/game before tonight Tennessee 28, Cleveland 31 Nice, we currently have a playoff berth, but to clinch it, we still need another 3 wins. Nice job Shawn, 395yd isn't bad at all Cleveland 28, Jacksonville 38 Ehr, Shawn, did you leave the field because you had a feeling that Holliday would throw a 39yd TD on his first pass? Cleveland 17, Buffalo 41 What? they we're 2-9! I sure hope Humphries and Hines will be fit soon, because what you, Salpala showed? 4 sacks is more than your cantract is worth Cleveland 20, Philadelphia 27 Do you guys realize that we need a 3-game winning streak now? Cleveland 17, Baltimore 52 Well, Paul Justin is an excellent explanation, so are James Allen's 4 TD Pittsburgh 13, Cleveland 27 about time! Cincinnati 37, Cleveland 28 I guess the weak defense helped them out Finishing the season 7-9 is pretty disturbing, though allowing 441 points (the most of all 32 franchises) is far too much. 397 points scoring is however the 4th best in the league. Shawn Lichter had an outstanding season: 477 for 247 (52%), 4367 yd (9.2), 30 TD, 18 int. This adds up to a career high 88.5 rating, but the league leader in yards and TD didn't get awarded. Zach Perry continued as he used to run: 734yd (3.8), 4 TD Bobby Morgenstern's receiving stats are however excellent: 81 receptions for 1,651 yards (20.3 avg.), 7 TD As the league leader in yards he earned All League 1st Team honors. The special team specialists ran wild: Mel Kirkaldie: 19 punt returns, 335yd (17.6), 2 TD Ike Banks: 39 kickoff returns,1,103yd (28.2), 2 TD Marlon Newsome made 101 tackles, Lamont Slutzker totalled 13.5 sacks, Sammie Sapp caught 4 interceptions. Austin Elliot had 29 KRB (38%), but allowed a career high 9 sacks Sammie Pritchett made 18 KRB (49%), allowing 8 sacks backup T.J. Bauer allowed only 2 sacks (he started 10 of 15 games) I'm very conserned about the 2004 season despite our recent surpirses.

pre season 2004:
It's about time to raise ticket prices, 25% should be enough for the next 4 years. We're still amongst the 10 cheapest teams. No need for franchise player designations, also no need to hire a new sidekick. Two ridicoulas trade offers for 2 of my star players, swiftly declined both. All 52 players are signed throughout the 2005 season, with the exception of split end and fan favorite Alex Stahl. Stahl was given a new contract, 4 years $20M. And our punter, who's contract was expanded with one minimun $ year. And our two guards, Hines' new deal 15M over 4 years, Humphries new contract is 12.5M over 4 years. We skip the free agency period, until the last day (we have to renegociate some contracts expiring in 2005.) There are a lot of draft picks we won't use, together with a lot of 2005 picks, all will be traded for picks in 2006. The following players were given extended contracts: Zach Perry (RB), Austin Elliot (C) and Bobby Morgenstern (WR). BTW, I just looked at the cohession ratings: EXCELLENT in all four categories. I quick simmed the draft, on to training camp! (I decided to train less then normal on offense, the defense could really use a boost.) The defensive backs' cohesion dropped to VERY GOOD. Exhibition Season: Cleveland 17, N.Y. Giants 20 Well defended, we even made 1 yard more then they did Cleveland 20, Chicago 23 Chicago really shut our running game, but me still managed to gain 366yd Cleveland 28, Springfield 22 Too bad this was an exhibition game, with only 1 second to play, Holliday found Morgenstern for the 20-22 TD, then Holliday found Swinford for 22, then Perry ran for the game winning TD in OT Green Bay 26, Cleveland 29 "Holliday snaps the ball, he looks, he finds Morgensternnnnn... unbelievable, the Browns take the lead again!" Off course, the Packers needed 2-2, not bad, the nice part is the fact that all games were as close as an missed field goal.

2004 Regular Season (first half):
Cleveland 17, Baltimore 23 Zach Perry: 19 carries for 172yd, 2 TD Shawn Lichter: 16/39 for 315yd, 0 TD, 5 interceptions Cleveland 10, N.Y. Jets 17 I think Perry is having his break-out year at last: 18 carries for 97yd, 1 TD Tennessee 28, Cleveland 41 sweet revenge, All Pro Bobby Morgenstern caught 10 passes for 170yd, 3 TD Offensive Player of the week went to Shawn Lichter 21/33 for 352yd, 4 TD, 0 interceptions Cleveland 25, Jacksonville 28 beaten by a kicker! well, what can you do against 3 50yd-ers and an OT 43yd-er? Cincinnati 37, Cleveland 34 Another OT FG loss, can you believe it? Cleveland 45, San Diego 35 We lead the league in points scored, thanks to Shawn Lichter's 6 TD! six touchdowns. BTW Ryan Leaf threw 5 of those. Off course Lichter won the offensive player of the week title. Cleveland 7, Chicago 12 Good news: we didn't allow any TD Bad news: we are 2-5 right now Minnesota 29, Cleveland 24 Going from a 24-0 lead to a 29-24 loss! First 8 games played, 2 won, 6 lost (all close losses. We are 3rd in the league in points/game with 203 in 8 games. San Diego (204) and New England (205) do slightly better. Shawn Lichter is 134/267 for 2,326yd, 17 TD, 9 interceptions. Rated at 88.6, Lichter leads the league in passing TD and is 3rd in passing yards. Zach Perry ran 118 times for 474yd (4.0), and 4 TD. Bobby Morgenstern's 38 receptions for 671yd and 9 TD is not bad, 9 TD is the most in the league. On defense these are the leaders: MLB Newsome 45 tackles, DE Eugene Eamigh 8.5 sacks (3rd in NFL), S Danny Burmester 2 interceptions, S Darryl Harden 2 interceptions. Offensive Line: Pritchett 4 KRB (25%), 7 sacks Hines 11 KRB (44%), 3 sacks Elliot 20 KRB (30%), 1 sack Humphries 11 KRB (31%), 1 sack Dawkins 8 KRB (32%), 5 sacks Team stats: Offense: rushing yd/game 27th (99.2) rushing yd/carry T-23rd (3.5) passing yd/game 3rd (290.7) passing yd/pass 2nd (8.8) Defense: rushing yd/game 13th (103.8) rushing yd/carry T-6th (3.5) passing yd/game 32nd (285.7) passing yd/pass T-26th (7.9) Turnovers: Offense T-10th (10) Defense T-12th (13) Margin T-6th (3+) 3rd downs: Offense T-23rd (33%) Defense T-28th (41%)

What do you think, do these players deserve a continueing story (after almost 148 days?)
I think they do! 4 plyaers are suffering from injuries: QB Shawn Lichter will play with extra protection for his broken nose. Fan favorite WR Alex Stahl has almost recovered from his bruised ribcage, he will play nonetheless. DT Kyle Muldoon is out, well what did you except with a dislocated knee? CB Kris Branch suufers from a broken foot, but the medics think he can play. I'll let him heal on the inactive roster. Pittsburgh (6-2, 1st in AFC) @ Cleveland (2-6) Last year we showed them: 27-13 thanks to 4-0 turn overs. Today we show 'em again: 34-16! I can't give any stats since the game log got lost. Bad news, backup DE Lamont Slutzker broke his tibia(?) and is out for the remainder of the season. A huge loss as he made 1.0 sacks, 19 tackles in 9 games (6 starts.) Cleveland (3-6) @ Tennessee (5-4) At home we crunshed them 41-28. Today we scored 37 points... and allowed 53. (Fifty-three!) How about this: 4Q: 04:38 TEN - Raymond Kitna 17 pass from Steve McNair. WR Ricardo Swinford caught 8 passes for 192 yd and 2 TD. We managed to take the lead in points with 27.4/game, Rams and Pats are close with 27.2/game. Jacksonville (4-6) @ Cleveland (3-7) And the Browns move up to 5th in the division with a 24-13 win! WR Ricardo Swinford was chosen MVP thanks to 8 catches for 112 yd and 1 TD (gamewinning TD at 17-13 lead.) New England (4-7) @ Cleveland (4-7) That is the #3 @ #1 in points. The #3 wins 22-21 thanks to a 28 yd TD pass with 51 sec left (and a failed 2pt conversion.) RB Zach Perry is out for the season with some broken ribs (ouch!) We sign Corey Walker to play 3rd violin at the RB position behind Brito and Velthoen. Green Bay (5-7) @ Cleveland (4-8) We managed to beat 'em some months ago with 29-26. Our defense did even better today, by allowing just 20 points to help us to a astonishing... 3-20 defit? Baltimore (5-8) @ Cleveland (4-9) Last time we humiliated them here with 7-34. Today we managed to win again: 17-13. Special thanks to our starring CB Myron Twente for his game winning interception return TD and off course for leading our secondary to a allow 140yd passing. Velthoen showed himself today and earns the starting RB job for next weekend. Cleveland (5-9) @ Pittsburgh (7-7) Making it a 2-0 record against them this year, would kill their playoff chances. And we were happy to do so: 31-24! The humiliating 31-17 game-winning TD was caught by Alex Stahl, tossed by 3rd string QB Donnie Young. Cleveland (6-9) @ Cincinnati (9-6) #2 @ #1 in points (370 vs 387.) We might destroy the Bengals playoff hopes today, if we beat 'em. We lose the total points race, the Bengals win 37-28. he had the chances to win, but lost when Jason Elam clinched the deal with a 56yd FG with 3 mins to go. We lost the game on turnovers (0-5!) as we outyarded them 490-212(!) We finih the season playoff-less: 6-10 (5th AFC Central, 14th AFC, 27th NFL) With 398 points we are the 3rd strongest offense, (Bengals 424, Cardiansl 405.) With 407 points agianst we are the second weakest defense (Dolphins 471.) Offensive yardage: Rush/game 105.3 (NFL 24th) yard/rush 3.8 (NFL 21st) Pass/game 282.5 (NFL 2nd, AFC leader) yard/pass 8.4 (NFL 2nd) Defensive yardage: Rush/game 109.5 (NFL 15th) yard/rush 3.8 (NFL 14th) Pass/game 247.4 (NFL 23rd) yard/pass 6.8 (NFL 13th) Turnovers: give away 26 (NFL 21st) take away 22 (NFL 23rd) to margin -4 (NFL tied 20th/21st) 3rd down: offense 38.4% (NFL 9th) defense 37.8% (NFL 21st) more to come...
