If you could only put one topping on a baked potato
What would it be?
I purposely didn’t do a poll to see the different answers. |

I would top it with a masher and make it mashed potatoes.

Full baked potato I'd go butter, chopped up I could see cheese, with bacon as the 2nd topping added.

I thought the answer was butter, but this is clearly right.

Sour cream. Necessary topping, and it is a 2-for-1 because it serves the purpose of butter too.

Only 1?
Has to be butter. or maybe none. I typically either eat a baked potato with butter cheese and bacon or eat it with nothing. |

Of the various {cough} non-traditional {cough} answers that have come up, I can actually see this working pretty well. Never had it. Never thought of it. Never heard of it before now. But my imagination says it probably works fairly well.

With only one option, I go for a can of black beans. A plain potato with salt is not gonna do it. A saltless potato with sour cream wont work. A can of black beans has enough flavor to make it work.
That is, assuming a can of black beans is considered "one topping". Guacamole would also be an excellent option.

But seriously folks, it's gotta be butter ... barely beating out sour cream. |

Ooh, I hadn't thought of answering chili ... but even if I did put the chili on, I'd still want to put on the other ingredient that is an absolute necessity for me on a baked potato:
Sour cream.

Chili is like 8 different toppings. Feel like it should not qualify. If I said I'd like to top my potato with beans, peppers, tomatoes, ground beef, peppers, onions, etc I'd get laughed out of the thread.

If you order a hot dog with chili, they only charge you for the chili topping. Same as adding chili to hash browns at Waffle House. Single charge.

Nah man it's a bullshit line of reasoning. Chili isn't a topping, it's a dish.

I'm voting for Chili as well. I think it qualifies as a topping because all the parts are mixed together and cooked.
I mean otherwise I'm probably just passing on the baked potato.
