2016 Motorsports thread

The Daytona 500 just ended with the closest finish in race history. Denny Hamlin beat Martin Truex Jr. by about 4 inches.

No Tony due to injury.
Elliott went out with early wreck.
Junior went out with late wreck.

At that point I'm basically left with no rooting interest, which sorta kills it for me.

Wow, Nico Rosberg announced his surprise retirement from Formula 1. Wins the World Championship last weekend, then drops the mic and walks away.

I'm guessing the last 3 seasons really did a number on him. Losing to Hamilton twice, then pushed to the absolute brink this season. I'm not surprised that he wants to spend some time with his family. I wouldn't be surprised if this is more of a sabbatical but maybe he winds up in a less stressful series (DTM?)

Good for him. I think Hamilton is a brilliant driver and a breath of fresh air, but I wouldn't want to be his teammate. Plus what a way to go out.

Right now the entire F1 driver group bar Hamilton are looking at their contract and wondering if they can get out of it! And Jensen Button is thinking... 'one more year?'

I sadly think they will be boring and grab Wehrlein (A Mercedes works driver without a seat at the moment), or maybe try to buy back Ocon, but man I'd love to see Button/Hamilton next season

I thought Wehrlein signed a deal to move to Manor?

Still 10X better odds than Leicester City to win the Premier League at the start of last season

Horrendous crash at the F3 GP in Macau. Amazingly no-one died, everyone conscious, but the driver has a fractured spine.

For a sense of the speed of it, I suggest you watch the second video on the page first.
