Loads nice. Start an exhibition game. No kick direction, just kick middle, punt middle, return middle, etc.. Gameplay isn't fine enough. I'm Calgary playing against Toronto. They threw an incomplete pass into the end zone but somehow that got them a 1st down, seems sketchy. I quit the game after they scored a TD. When I resumed they still led 6-0 but had it 1st and goal, seems sketchy. I have no timeouts but when I hit the timeout button I get called for a penalty. Brilliant strategy from the developers or poor craftsmanship, you be the judge. I can't run for shit.

No season play. Gameplay itself is not that bad, it's just clunky and lumbering. Almost all my throws have about 5 players around the ball by the time it gets there. Can't run. Eh.

Someone modded the uniforms and player names so they were legit. So in that sense, yes. Glorious vistas of customization await.

Good. As soon as the ball is in the air, the whole defense runs to it, and gets there before it does. Hard to beat that.

OK, so I don't want to be overly harsh on the game, it just feels so unnecessary. You can play a game, no season mode, no multiplayer, so you can play as any of the 9 current CFL teams against one of the other 9 current CFL teams. I'm sure there will be roster and uni mods down the pike, maybe even other mods, but the base scope of the game is so limited that literally the only thing it has going for it is that it has Canadian rules. To that end, I appreciate that someone made a game with Canadian rules, and as a one off here and again it will be fun to play I guess, but they've really seemed to limit their potential customer base if that's the games big draw.

Gameplay isn't great, but I've only been dicking it around with it for a night. It's not even comparable to games that are 10-15 years old when it comes to animations and smoothness of gameplay. Again, I understand it's a small operation, but that doesn't make that fact any less true.

As long as people know what they're getting when they purchase it, I'm fine with it, but it really seems like they should have spent another year or two filling out the game before making a first release.
