Sounds like a good way to maximize his wasted money.

There's a 'proxy' site available to us in Australia that enabled me to even get suckered into buying a game for the next draw.... at the generous sum of $14AU for a single game.

I love my family but they can rest easy knowing at some point I'll take care of them but for the immediate future I'm on some beach for quite awhile. And I would never come back to where I am from and live now. I would be buying a home or two where nobody knows who I am.

first, that is wildly impractical

second, the media interest surrounding this will be so intense, i doubt you could hide. there will be footage of you buying the ticket in days, i'd think.

finally, great, you are hidden. but your family is not. they are still targets.

wait, is life like a movie? maybe it's all in my head, but i think there's enough bad people willing to do a lot to get a crack at some of that 700m or whatever it is after taxes.

I hope he's really really really excited about that last item - because the rest of the plan is garbage, mathematically.

Lolz. The VP over the division I work in just emailed the team: he bought 100 tickets with, it appears, company money. Any winnings will be split among his entire team (maybe 300-400 people.) Seems like a relatively cheap morale boost.

Company money being used to potentially eliminate the entire workforce of said company. What could go wrong?

At 300 or so people, that's not really retirement money after taxes.

I predict this is going to be won by some sort of group pool and it's going to be messy

/I'm in two separate group pools

According to the many-worlds theory of quantum mechanics, there are 5 versions of me in the multi-verse that are about to become billionaires. If this version of me doesn't win, I'll still be very happy for those of me who win.

We had 24 people at work pitch in $40 each. I doubt we won more than $40 total.

Yeah we had basically the same number of people and I suggested we buy half tickets and then do a drawing between us for like $250. I of course was shut down and still stayed in the pool because I couldn't live with myself of everyone quit and I was stuck working there!

What's funny is that pooling your money for the lottery was fine.

But if you had used some of it for a local $250 pool, you would have been running an illegal gambling operation.

based on the odds, your result is still considered lucky.

I hope at least one of the winners decides they want to end American poverty and we all get our $1.44 million!

There's a rumor on one of the UTEP message boards that the California winner is former UTEP WR Russell Carr. If true, hopefully he has fond feelings for the ol' alma mater!

So the couple from TN are going to keep working at the same jobs and live in the same home. Unless that is just face talk, they are in for a treat.
