It's unfair to penalize the one tackle the secondary made all game.

I can appreciate the desire to limit concussions, but football is still a contact sport and I don't see anything in this video that suggests ill-intent. Not sure what else the defender could've done... |

Sorry, missed this last night. The guy running onto the field without a helmet would have been assessed as a dead ball foul. As long as he wasn't on the field at the snap (or the start of the play in this case), it's a dead ball foul. I get that that particular incident isn't being made part of the controversy, so it's not really that big a deal.

The entire ACC crew officiating last night's Duke-Miami game including the replay official and the official communicator has been suspended!

Rumor has it they were assigned to the Clemson FSU game and the ACC didn't want to risk another screw up to their plans

Nah, Cherry and the "a team" should be in town for that one. If you look back at the last 10 or so Clemson fsu games ...a ref probably won't matter. This one has been conclusive either way. |

I imagine they would've delivered a similar message to Miami about the phantom TD on the previous play if the return had been nullified.

I don't know, it sure looked like the ball was at the plane there. Certainly a very close call, but not sure how you would have overturned it.

Comedy gold. I mean, under the circumstances why not just give the award to the refs?
Corn Elder of Miami Hurricanes wins weekly ACC award for last-second TD against Duke Blue Devils

Based upon his attitude and the way he treated a lot of people both in Provo when he was at BYU and all over the country. I was shocked he lasted this long as HC. Problem with Hawaii is keeping the Poly's on the island. A lot of them want off and they want to go play for a team that is going to get them the $ to live a good life back there. If a solid coach can keep them on the island and get them to the league, then I think Hawaii could be an awesome spot.

Admittedly the best angles aren't available, but the shots I've seen show his elbow down before the ball could be across the plane. And the TD isn't the only questionable call on that last drive. The interference calls were ridiculous. My point is that everyone is acting like Duke got robbed of a win, but that's hardly the case. They were gifted the lead in the first place.

The ACC named Corn Elder from Miami the special teams player of the week after taking the lateral for a TD. No word on officiating crew of the week.

Yeah, but the major part is having an AD that doesn't give a shit about the program there. I think they suffer a lot because of that. I think it will take a change of pace from the AD and from the School / State to make it work. If not, they might as well shutter the program.
