Selling Larger Items

I miscalculated my desire to own sports memorabilia I don't need and bought a few old stadium seats a few years ago that don't mean anything to me.

It's time to clear that space and recoup at least a decent portion of what I paid. But I only own a small sedan and so using eBay and shipping them away isn't a good option. I haven't had any response on Craigslist. At least no response that isn't obvious spam trying to scam me.

What do people use today to sell larger items that have to be picked up? And without that risk of getting ripped off?

Consignment stores? Just throwing out a random guess here.

You can rent a truck from local hardware stores around our neck of the woods for pretty cheap (I think like $20/hr?). Or get a one-day U-Haul.

Have you tried memorabilia forums? I have been buying/selling pinball machines the last few years and there are specific forums that are Pinball related where I've had the most success.

I would also look for sports memorabilia gatherings. Usually they do one once a year in major cities at whatever you call your convention center (just take pictures of the stuff, but only do that if you don't mind taking a loss) I have been surprised at what I could pick up at coin auctions, so looking for a memorabilia auction might be a decent way to go as well. Most auctioneers that I have dealt with will come out and pick up the stuff for you.

Facebook buy/sell/trade sites probably exist for your community. It might be a pain in the ass like craigslist, but at least you're dealing with real people locally.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I have looked into shipping/pickup. It would run about $100 with shipping materials, and there's the hassle of finding proper sized shipping materials and packing it.

Easier to keep dropping the price until I find someone who has a pickup truck and doesn't mind coming out here. Less hassle is a huge consideration here. I have a feeling there's about $100-$200 worth of hassle in this if I'm not careful here.

I'll look into Facebook.

What about team forums or SBN sites?
