NCAA FOFC Calcutta Interest Check?
Several of us had a lot of fun with the World Cup Calcutta Pool.
Gauging interest in a March Madness Calcutta. In the grand scheme of things, it would work the same way. Teams are bid on in auction format. Total prize pool is the sum of the winning bids. You begin to get prizes back if your team makes the Sweet 16. Details may be a little different, the main one being that I do not have access to the board during the work day, so the auctions may need to be condensed into evenings (maybe even a giant one evening auction). Given that time constraint, is there interest from anyone in participating? I'd say the minimum needed is 6 participants (to build a prize pool). I don't think we need to set a max participant level. So long as you have mimimally acceptable credit, you can come in and bid for a team or 12. |

Intrigued. Question do you win the value of the team you beat or will a prize schedule be established.
Will 15/16/play ins be bucketed. |

Definitely interested.
A neat twist I've heard on these, to get some higher bidding on lower seeds, is to allocate part of the pool to the team that lost by the most points in a game.

15/16 likely to be one bucket.
For simplicity sake, I'm likely to run it like the WC Calcutta, so straight percentage of the pool for making it to whatever round. Most common seems to be: 25% to the winner (25%) 15% to the champ game loser (15% 10% to the other two final four teams (20%) 5% to the 4 other great 8 teams (20%) 2.5% to the sweet 16 losers (20%) |

That was fun. Sure, I would participate.

Could you do a setup where a thread is used for bidding, and anything that goes for more than a certain time without being rebid is considered sold? Seems like lots of the minor interests could be resolved fairly quickly, and then your last 8-16 (or whatever) could sort themselves out by Wednesday night.
My availability at one specific point in time is variable, that's what killed me in the WC version. |

Not sure what the cost might be for hosting a draft, but this site looks promising:
