PING--People who know about Augusta GA Masters Traffic, Accommodations, Etc.
In the next few weeks, I have to visit a client at the federal prison outside of Edgefield, SC. I am planning to say in the closest real city, which is Augusta, GA.
I know enough to not try and schedule the trip during the Masters. But how much of a window (if any) before and after the tournament should I also avoid if I don't want a pinch for hotels, etc.? Are there, like, pre-Masters tournaments that tend to fill the place up? Or do people hang out afterwards? Because visiting a federal prisoner is difficult, we tend to schedule the visit with the prison first and then work out the hotel, travel, etc. later. So I would love to know the dates to avoid on the front end before I start talking to the prison scheduling people. Thanks for any insights. |

Just so you have some kind of answer--I would rule out the week before and during the tournament (my best guess).

I agree with britrock - avoid the week before and the week of the Masters and you should be fine.
I'm actually going to the Masters practice round on the Monday this year and I'm forced to stay in Columbia, SC to get a decent hotel rate - that's at least an hour and ten minutes away.
