South Carolina, The Gift that Keeps on Giving

SC governor hopeful denies blogger claim of affair - Yahoo! News

I know Colbert (or maybe The Daily Show) has pointed out what a great news state South Carolina is.

"Hiking the Appalachian Trail" is still one my my favorite euphemisms.

yes yes this state is the biggest joke out there these days. A governor who got to keep his job with basically no penalty after having an affair and lying about being out of the country. Andre Bauer, Jim DeMint, now this woman, etc. Hollywood couldn't have written a better cast of characters.

Now let's not go crazy. I'm from SC and yes there are a lot of things wrong with the state, but there are a great deal of good things there too.

Here are a few things that make SC so great: (in no particular order)

Clemson University (you knew I would say this)

Hilton Head Island

The Beacon (www.beacondrivein.com)

Furman University

The Grand Strand (aka Myrtle Beach)

Charleston

Low Country cooking

Tyler Florence (he's from my hometown)

Steven Colbert (from Charleston)

peaches (SC produces more than GA)

Fatz Cafe (www.fatzcafe.com)

Now the mistress says the breakup caught her by surprise and is about politics.

My wife and I stumbled onto it several months back and watched a few episodes. It got repetitive after a while, definitely entertaining to watch him get drunk and show absolutely zero remorse for getting caught with his face in a bag of cocaine.
