The "REAL PLAYER" file

Ok - so does the "real player file" not work right or is it the importer supplied with the game that messes it up.

As a post below mentions the Punt and Kickoff return ratings do not import correctly.

My guess is that the importer is fouled-up.Why the heck was this not done properly to begin with.I don't think Grin-er really gives a crap.At this point my $35 is wasted.

OK - go ahead an flame me.

So the fact that some players don't come over with "proper" kick and punt return numbers means that the game is a waste and no good at all?

Whatever...

Ever bought a computer game before? Most people understand there will be issues when a game first comes out that's why there are threads to report these "bugs".

If you can't or don't want to deal with issues like this then you should make it a habit to wait until the game has gone through it's first couple of patches before purchasing.

That little lesson alone should be worth $35 to you.

Gladly, you maggot infested moron.

You're complaining that something that JIM GINDIN HAD nothing to do with (the real player file) is broken, therefore your purchase is wasted? You must be a frickin imbecile.

Oh wait..

Just registered, one post.

I think we have been trolled. Let me guess, you want people to play a certain OTHER game instead? One that's put out by another company that isn't out yet, right?

(note: I am not attacking Joe and/or Arlie and/or .400. I happened to swap words with Joe on the /400 board about their radio station, and they are good folks. Some of their fans however, have the 12 year old mentality that they can make something else rise up by tearing down others)

I'll reply with what I replied with in the Punt/Kick thread:

There is some variation in the player file and what shows up in the game still have a difference even without the X-factor. This is so every game does not play the exact same way. I would think this is a good thing, so it doesn't get boring (i.e. a completely the same season replay over and over).

Why not post in the regular thread for this? Why start an entirely new thread, then bait people by calling the game worthless, purposely insult the developer, and say" ok, flame me". No offense, but that doesn't really make you sympathetic when you're asking to be flamed.

You are a rarity around here. Most everyone on this board plays a ton of football games.

Welcome. Wish your first post would have been a bit better, but we can't have everything we wish for.

You EXPECTED to get flamed. Why act shocked that it happened now?

Have not looked here in a year.Since I junked FOF4.

So you junked FOF4 and haven't been here in a year, but happened to pop in near the date of the release of the new game? Cool.

Well, if SirFozzie is a smart alec kid, dropping by his house and starting a fight wouldn't exactly be the smartest thing you could do.

I hate to break up all the "Bashing", but getting back to the topic....

Do you think there will be a corrected "Real Players" file released? I know a lot of people are waiting on the first game patch to be released, so should we also wait/expect on the first player patch as well?

Is there a problem with the player file? The only one I've heard was the 16 year old guard on denver, but you can just open the csv with a spreadsheet yourself and fix that.

edit - unless you mean inflated or depressed stats, but not everybody is experiencing this and I think there's still a debate over whether something is wrong. In any event, that would be a problem with the game engine anyway, not the player file.

Speaking of Ben and the Denver Broncos lets take their #1 punt returner and #2 kick returner Easy Ed McCaffery.

It appears after 13 years in the league Ed has embarked on a new calling. First 13 years ZERO kick returns. First 13 years ZERO punt returns. Now he is their starting return specialist?

O'Neil there regular return specialist has a ZERO rating for both PR and KR.

There is a bug in the KR and PR ratings.

The .csv is ok, if there is any problem is on the import function that should import exactly the .csv rattings unless you use the X factor.
Also another question, i have seen some players with 0 endurance, is that ok?

Help. Are you telling me that I should drop the fdt file for a csv file?

Is ther a difference in accuracy? fdt vs csv? Is one better than the other?

Both are the same as the .fdt is created from the .csv with the import function. What we are pointing here is that mybe the importing tool has a bug and doesn't import correctly the .csv files.

So if there is a bug then what he should do is report the possibility of it and thank Jim for making this game. Instead he complains and criticizes the man who made the game he aparently has been impressed enough with to purchase 5 times. If his wife or whoever made him dinner does he throw it in her face complaining that there is not enough salt in it? That it's unedible? No. There is a right way and a wrong way. Show some respect.

I think this is right. The player file correctly rates the PRs and KRs. It's something with the game engine that doesn't seem to be using the those ratings when it generates a new career.

It seems like if a player is hard rated a 9 (best) in KR, for example, it's generating a 0 instead of a high rating. So to generate enough talent in returns it gives better ratings to other typical return men, like wide receivers. So this is why maybe you see guys like like Ed McCaffrey being punt returners. It's the same with my Raiders - Phillip Buchanan is hard rated a 7 but he's generated with a 0 in punt returns. Instead 41 year old Jerry Rice is my highest rated punt returner.

Again, it looks to me like the player file is fine. It's a glitch in the game correctly generating the ratings for return men that I'm sure will be easily fixed. I haven't seen it with any other positions.

I'm confused by this comment. Is it sarcasm? The game is virtually bug free compared to the release of FOF4.

I would like to give this thread a quick bump.

With the upcomming release of the first patch I was wondering if there is also going to be a release of a new "Real Roster" fdt program?

In the beginning I just downloaded the fdt real players file, and switched it with my defualt file. Am I going to have to download the first patch then wait for the first player patch to come out and download it too.

Not complaining at all. I am just curious as to what patches will be comming out?
