20 injured in Pittsburgh-area high school stabbings, authorities say

Quote:
Dr. Chris Kaufmann at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, spoke to CNN on air. He said the facility is treating seven teens with stab wounds to their torso, abdomen, chest and back areas. He said that the injuries were "quite serious" and that "some are clearly life-threatening." An adult is also being treated there, he said.

A bit outside of Pittsburgh, this is around where Dr Sak is.

Heard 6 on the radio when I first heard it about 7:30a.
But the time I got to work, heard 8.

I think the 20 is "injured" and not necessarily stabbed - thinking along the lines of somebody falling etc during the chaos.

I live about 5 miles from the school and have some friends who teach there. I haven't even able to talk to them to see how they are and what happened. But from what I gather , from rumors, this kid was bullied and just snapped.

Among the little things about this story is the part where someone -- possibly a student -- pulled a fire alarm during the attack, creating chaos but also the move was noted by police as probably a good thing since it emptied the school more quickly.

I kind of hate for that sort of detail to get out there where it might stick in the head of a student who faces the same situation someday & instead of clearing the school it puts students right in the line of fire instead of being more safely locked down in their classrooms.
