12:01 PM PT (Jed Lewison): The shelter-in-place order has been lifted at the U.S. Capitol. There are reports that a female suspect is dead, but there is also a report of a suspect in custody.

They are saying now the shooter was a woman. Child was in the car with the woman, unknown to police began to use force against her. CNN's been showing a child being carried away by a policeman

That video is showing the car racing on First Street between the Capitol Grounds and the reflecting pool on the west side. Fortunately, I was walking there this morning and not this afternoon.
I doubt this is anything more than a person with serious mental health problems who was off of her meds. |

Like literally a couple hours ago I was going to say that I think folks in the USA are too comfortable to do any kind of protesting over this situation.....scratch that thought, I guess. I certainly can't laud this lady for the fundamentally flawed and morally questionable idea of crashing her car into the Capitol, especially since I have no idea what her motivations are, but even if it's a completely random coincidence rather than an act of protest, it seems like a sadly apt manifestation of everybody's pent up frustration toward our retarded governance. Maybe they'll take it to heart.
....or maybe they'll just keep bickering.
