Just purchased the Box Set of the entire 26 episode series and I have to say that I loved it. Anybody else watch this show?

Yeah I have the first disk and as soon as I get through the huge mountain of other stuff to watch (oh, and get some money as well) then I fully intend to pick up the rest of the series. I just loved the fact that it wasn't afraid to kill people off and it seemed very (hate to use the word) 'edgy'. As I said I only have the first disk but if you liked this have you seen another series called 'Now and Then, Here and There'? Another Anime for the grownups...

Thought this had to do with the Traags from Fantastic Planet.
I watched the trailer and there were no blue people.

Earth is taken over by a horde of insects named the Blue. Humans have had to relocate to an orbiting space station, Second Earth, to survive and launch military campaigns from. A man named Yugi has a mysterious genetic disease 22 years prior to these events and he is put to sleep by doctors until they find a cure, which is supposedly only a few years later. Yugi is awakened in the world of the Blue accidentally when operative from Second Earth are picking up "Sleepers" like Yugi from various dilapidated medicial institutions around Earth. As the series winds its way through 26 episodes, you learn more and more about the world, Yugi's past, the Sleepers, Second Earth, and especially, the Blue. Amazingly good series because it does its stuff very realistically. Plus, its hardcore sci-fi as opposed to most Japanese anime which is highly fantasy oriented, even in its sci-fis. -Anxiety

Will I like it if I don't normally dig anime but find most of it to be boring and overly self-absorbed? -Anxiety

Hmmm, I don't think that it is self-absorbed but it is quite unsettling and even unpleasant in places. Only a 13 parter as well mate. I think that it is worth a go if you like character and story rather then eye-candy. And I totally agree with your earlier comment about even SF anime stumbling into fantasy territory, just pick a damn genre dammit! |

I'm pretty sure Blue is a girl dog.
