Since their ascendent title back in their 3rd season, the Kauai Emeralds franchise had fallen off the map. The team returned to the post-season two years ago thanks to the first conditional playoff rule season was enacted when the Emeralds won the NL West but finished 5th in the NL overall. After over a decade in Hawaii, wolvie decided to pull up stakes and take the team to the mainland where he saw a huge Los Angeles market in the mood for a winner and moved his squad there becoming the 3rd SLOP team to decamp on that city in the league's history. The first were the LA Vulcans, who won the '39 NL Pennant in their only playoff appearance before folding in '46. Then in '55, the city got the expansion Los Angeles Banditos who made the playoffs in '57 and lost in the NLCS before claphamsa moved them to Washington D.C. two years later. So will the 3rd time be a charm? It's hard to say, but if there's ever an ownership group poised for a rebirth it's this one. Thanks to a deal with the former residents of LA, the Villains are poised to make a hard run at an NL West pennant. They added veteran 2B Dave Plummer and solid starters in Dave Renninger & R.J. Musumeci In terms of the most improved squads in the NL, you have to like what wolvie's done. After finishing just 2 games out of the NL West pennant last year, if their offense led by Jaime Daughtery is anything like it's been the past few years, they should be a threat to advance to the post-season the first year in their new city.
