RIP: Coach Darrell K Royal
College football lost one of the all-time greats on Wednesday, when Darrell Royal, former head coach at Mississippi State, Washington, and most famously Texas passed away at the age of 88. He led the Longhorns to three National Championships, and introduced the wishbone to college football, riding it to a 30 game win streak in the late 60s.
Mind Faded, Darrell Royal’s Wisdom and Humor Intact Till End - NYTimes.com http://espn.go.com/college-football/...llege-football Darrell Royal, legendary Longhorns coach, dies at 88 | Dallas-Fort Worth Sports News - Sports... Royal leaves a legacy of championships, character | www.statesman.com To honor the coach, the Longhorns lined up in the wishbone on their first play from scrimmage today: The play probably would have horrified Coach Royal, who famously said "Three things can happen when you pass the ball, and two of them are bad."
