That looks pretty sweet, however I want my helmet a little bit more plain. Is there someone here who can convert the following image into my team colors (Black, Silver, Dark Blue) and put this on a helmet so I can see what it looks like? I have to images in my head, first the "C" being silver and pasted on the blue helmet Cuervo posted above. And the second of the C being in dark blue with a silver helmet (Detroit Lionsesque).

This might be rediculously ignorant of me, but how do you guys make those helmets? I could have hours of fun making fantasy helmets if I could only figure out how.....

Can I just use the helmet that Render altered for me on page 9? I'd like to spiffy it up even more, but I have no graphics skill at all.

Neuqua, I didn't get exactly what you described, but I think this might be pretty close for the second helmet you described (the "C" is gray, because blue didn't quite work with the blue border the letter had once I changed some colors).

Thanks, though it was pretty well set up already with an existing logo and helmet. The only thing was making the skull blueish.

How the hell you do the shadowing effects, anyway? That's the only thing I could not get to work in Photoshop.

Well, the shadowing on the bottom is taken from the base image used on the Helmet Project site, it serves as the background in photoshop (enlarged and blurred a little). The shadowing on the helmet itself was done by making a black to transparent gradient (had to play with this a bit), and then cutting it to first be an overlap on the helmet (like a silhouette), and then using an oval to cut the rest of it and make a curve. Depending on how dark the helmet is, play with the opacity of the layer. The spotlight was just a white circle that was radial blurred or something like that.
Anyway, I posted a template in another thread, but here it is again. Should make things pretty easy.

Tasan: In a fictitious league I had one time I had the San Antonio Lone Stars. The logo I had developed had the Texas state flag with a script "Lone" and "Stars" in the red and white sections, respectively. Not quite Alamo-related, but it was what came out of the Battle of the Alamo after a time, if you think about it.

MrBug - if you're still looking for a helmet/logo, the San Diego Surge of the WSFL (don't know if they actually existed though) had a wave on theirs.

A great, free alternative to Photoshop is The Gimp, an opensource pic editor. It has tons of functions, and gets updated all the time. Find it here:
http://www.gimp.org/ You'll see a lot of Linux references there, but there is a windows port as well. You can find a link for the download there, or try this: http://www.gimp.org/~tml/gimp/win32/ I like trying to show the opensource alternative whenever I can.
