Roldán Earns April's Top Batter Prize in CL
Saturday, May 1st, 2100: There's nothing like putting up good, solid numbers in the last year of your contract. Today Carlos Roldán helped his contract negotiations by nabbing April's Continental League Batter of the Month honors.

The London left fielder put together a .330 batting average with 7 home runs, 28 RBIs and 13 runs scored.

Someone will surely be opening up the vault this offseason if Roldán continues at this brisk pace.


Norman Wins RL's Best Bat Award
Saturday, May 1st, 2100: The Republic League has made it official -- Jaye Norman is the winner of the Batter of the Month trophy.

In April, the New York first baseman starred with a .368 batting average, 11 home runs and 19 RBIs. Norman also had 10 walks, posted a .429 on-base percentage and scored 23 times.

April's Pitcher of the Month Goes to Conboy
Saturday, May 1st, 2100: Phil Conboy's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-0 in April, the 32-year-old Oshawa hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 37 in 34 innings, logged an ERA of 1.06 and allowed opponents to hit .171 against him.


Gould Collects RL Pitching Award
Saturday, May 1st, 2100: Keith Gould was the anchor in the Waikiki bullpen last month and snatched up the Republic League Pitcher of the Month honors for April. The 29-year-old is in the prime of his career and pitching like he intends to stay around baseball for quite some time to come.

He threw 9 innings over 10 relief appearances and collected a 1-0 record with 15 strikeouts and 8 saves while etching his 0.00 ERA.

Lyons Voted April's Rookie Award
Saturday, May 1st, 2100: Youngster George Lyons emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from St Louis deserved the honor, batting .328 with 6 home runs and 17 runs batted in. Is the month of April a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Lyons enjoy the limelight.


Bradshaw Tabbed RL's Top Rookie
Saturday, May 1st, 2100: Richard Bradshaw earned April's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Spring center fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Bradshaw hit .315 with no home runs, 5 RBIs and 13 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Nishiyama Named CL Batter of the Month
Tuesday, June 1st, 2100: Tadataka Nishiyama really put on a show in May, earning the Batter of the Month Award in the Continental League!

The Plantana center fielder batted .398 with 8 home runs, 25 RBIs, 28 runs scored, along with 8 walks to compile a .431 on-base percentage.

Nishiyama is currently batting .368 with 11 home runs, 35 RBIs and 45 runs scored. He has 82 hits in 223 at-bats.


McIlwrath RL Outstanding Batter of the Month
Tuesday, June 1st, 2100: Cleveland right fielder Jimmy McIlwrath took home the Republic League Batter of the Month Trophy for May.

He put up some solid numbers, including a .350 batting average and .395 on-base percentage with 42 hits, 9 home runs, 22 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

On the year McIlwrath is hitting .329 with 71 hits, 12 home runs, 36 RBIs, .370 OBP and has scored 36 runs.

Continental League Names #1 Pitcher in May
Tuesday, June 1st, 2100: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Jaime Hernández still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in May. The 26-year-old starter for Washington was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and no losses with 31 strikeouts in his 5 starts, putting up a fine 1.59 ERA in 34 innings of work.

In 10 starts this season Hernández has registered a 4-3 record and a 3.21 ERA.


Ann Arbor's Starter Receives RL Pitching Award
Tuesday, June 1st, 2100: When Andrés Santos takes the hill, chances are good for a Ann Arbor victory. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 6-1 mark and 2.14 ERA in 7 starts, tossed 42 innings, fanned 54 and held others clubs to a .162 average.

That's why the Wolverines star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Republic League.

This year Santos has fashioned a 8-2 mark, 2.30 ERA and pitched 70.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .182 against him and he has logged 82 strikeouts.

Newcomer of the Month Picked
Tuesday, June 1st, 2100: Jean-François Gaudet certainly made his presence felt in the Continental League in May. The gifted catcher for Manchester ripped opposing pitchers for a .324 batting average and was the top votegetter for the Rookie of the Month trophy.

He won it by going 23-71 in 19 games with 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

For the year Gaudet has hit .309 with 6 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 10 runs.


May's #1 Newcomer Named by RL
Tuesday, June 1st, 2100: Enrique Rivera is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In May the Portland hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .284 average with 31 hits, 1 home run and 15 RBIs.

So far this year Rivera has 2 home runs and a .255 batting average.

Washington's Gómez CL #1 Batter in June
Thursday, July 1st, 2100: In June, Vincente Gómez let his bat do the talking for him. The Washington first baseman smacked the ball at a .319 average as he laid claim to the Continental League Batter of the Month award.

He rapped 12 home runs, drove in 28 and scored 21 runs.

Gómez is hitting .268 so far this season with 56 RBIs and 50 runs scored. He has 74 hits including 23 home runs, 36 walks and .349 OBP.


Valdéz Snares RL Top Batter Award in June
Thursday, July 1st, 2100: Ignacio Valdéz battered Republic League pitchers all June and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around FOOL-X long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 31-year-old Valdéz told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 28 games, Valdéz hit .348 with 11 home runs, 32 RBIs and scored 25 runs.

In his stats this season, Valdéz has posted a batting average of .316 with 100 hits in 316 at-bats, 22 home runs and 64 RBIs. He has also scored 50 runs, walked 31 times and compiled a .386 OBP.

June's Premier Pitcher Announced By CL
Thursday, July 1st, 2100: There's no doubt that Bees starter Héctor Martínez earned his Continental League Pitcher of the Month award. He left absolutely no room for doubt as he mowed his way through the opposition in June.

During the month Martínez was 4-1 with a 2.06 ERA. He made 6 starts, tossed 43.2 innings and had 34 strikeouts.

This season to date Martínez has a record of 7 wins and 7 losses with a 3.06 ERA, has appeared in 16 games and struck out 86 in 103 innings.


Wolverines Starter Wins RL Pitching Award
Thursday, July 1st, 2100: Pedro Rodríguez will be bringing June's Republic League Pitcher of the Month trophy home to Ann Arbor. He excelled all month long as he kept opposing hitters guessing, reaching and hoping.

Rodríguez started 6 games, going 5-1 with 31 strikeouts in 39 innings as he compiled his 2.31 ERA.

In 19 starts this season Rodríguez has fashioned a 10-4 record and a 2.76 ERA.

CL Names Rookie Star of the Month
Thursday, July 1st, 2100: Javier Flores's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young London right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .259 with 7 doubles, no triples and 3 home runs. Flores also scored 19 times and drove in 8 runs.

Thus far this year Flores has hit .253 with 8 home runs and 26 RBIs.


Grafals Named June's #1 Newcomer
Thursday, July 1st, 2100: The Republic League made the official announcement today. The Rookie of the Month honor went to José Grafals of Spring. He was chosen as the #1 rookie in June.

Last month the 22-year-old Lions left fielder played in 24 games and hit .330 with 7 doubles, no triples and 5 home runs. Grafals also scored 9 times and drove in 20 runs.

Grafals is batting at a .279 pace this season, picking up 69 hits in 247 at-bats with 11 home runs, 40 RBIs and 32 runs scored.

To win the honor, he batted .378 with 37 hits, 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He also drew 6 walks to post a .410 on-base percentage.

So far this year Cruz has 18 home runs and a .292 batting average.

Sunday, August 1st, 2100: July was a very productive month for Palmer Walters, and today the New York designated hitter was rewarded with the Republic League Batter of the Month honors.

Sunday, August 1st, 2100: It was a monstrous July for the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award winner, Phil Conboy of the Oshawa Mullets. He put up some mighty scary numbers.

Conboy recorded 4 wins and 1 loss in 5 starts. Throwing a total of 38.1 innings, he yielded 30 hits, mowed down 45 on strikes, gave up 7 walks and put up a solid ERA of 1.41 in a stellar month on the mound.

This season Conboy has compiled a 13-4 record with a 1.87 ERA in 21 starts.


Ayala Is July's Top Starter
Sunday, August 1st, 2100: Juan Ayala took home the Republic League Pitcher of the Month honors in July. After all these years playing ball, the 36-year-old veteran still enjoys the game as though he'd just broken camp for the first time a month ago. He's a bit older now with a few more aches and pains, but the old man has reason to celebrate, having gone 4-1 for Portland last month and claiming the Pitcher of the Month award.

He tacked up a 2.02 ERA in his 5 starts, tossing 35.2 innings and striking out 35.

This year Ayala has compiled a 8-7 mark with a 2.33 ERA.

CL Picks Rookie of the Month
Sunday, August 1st, 2100: Eduardo Guzmán of the London Bishops has been voted the top Rookie in the Continental League.

In July he collected 26 hits, 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He batted .292 with a .354 OBP.

For the season, Guzmán is hitting at a .232 clip with 12 home runs, 49 RBIs and has scored 33 runs. He has 84 hits, 27 walks and a .285 on-base percentage.

Continental League Picks August's Best Batter
Wednesday, September 1st, 2100: In the last year of his deal with St Louis, Vincent Bungay has created some waves by winning August's Continental League Batter of the Month title today.

He put up a solid .362 batting average with 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He also worked CL pitchers for 18 walks and a .464 on-base percentage.

If he keeps churning out numbers like these, the 40-year-old is sure to draw some attention, when contract time rolls around.

Sandoval Wins RL Prize, Named Best Hitter in August
Wednesday, September 1st, 2100: Mauro Sandoval, the New York Legends left fielder, certainly made his name known to Republic League hurlers over the last month. He consistently introduced himself with hit after hit and came away with August's Republic League Batter of the Month award.

He slashed and bashed his way to a .320 batting average while tallying up 12 home runs, 32 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He also worked RL pitchers for 11 walks and a .381 on-base percentage.

Presently Sandoval is batting .278 with 35 home runs and 104 RBIs. He has played in 132 games and scored 76 times.

CL Top Pitcher Award for August to Conboy
Wednesday, September 1st, 2100: A 5-1 record with a 2.83 ERA is a pretty good month for most any pitcher. The Continental League thought it was worthy of an award and named Phil Conboy, starter for the Oshawa Mullets, August's Pitcher of the Month.

He also held the opposition to a .263 average while posting 35 strikeouts in 41.1 innings.

This year Conboy has fanned 198 in 181 innings and collected a 18-5 record with a 2.09 ERA.


Republic League Picks Best Starter in August
Wednesday, September 1st, 2100: James Davis of the Waikiki Beach Boys was on top of his game the entire month of August, capping it off with the Republic League Pitcher of the Month honors.

He was outstanding in 5 starts with 4 wins and 1 loss, 33 IP, 26 strikeouts and a fine 2.45 ERA.

Manchester's McCall Bags CL Top Batter for September
Friday, October 1st, 2100: Tom McCall is in the final year of his contract with Manchester and today added a timely piece of hardware to his trophy case. Playing in 27 games in September the 29-year-old second baseman ripped Continental League pitchers for a .373 batting average, nabbing him the Batter of the Month award.

He also rang up 2 home runs, 16 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

If McCall keeps up this pace, he'll cost someone a lot of money.

So far in 2100 McCall is batting .329 with 4 home runs, 89 RBIs and 98 runs scored. He has 213 hits in 647 at-bats and a .389 OBP.


Walters Takes RL's Best Bat Trophy
Friday, October 1st, 2100: In the month of September Palmer Walters thumped the ball with authority, earning Republic League Batter of the Month honors in the process.

Gutiérrez Stands Out, Choice for Best Pitcher
Friday, October 1st, 2100: Plantana Pirates starter Dani Gutiérrez has collected the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award for a run of lights-out performances.

"This town really appreciates it when you're going well," said Gutiérrez. "They might boo you when you're getting knocked around, but they love you when you're mowin' them down."

In September the 30-year-old compiled a 4-1 record in 6 starts with a 2.82 ERA. He threw 38.1 innings, fanning 27 while walking 17.

This season Gutiérrez has compiled a 9-11 mark with a 4.68 ERA in 32 starts.


September's RL Top Pitcher is Wolverines Pérez
Friday, October 1st, 2100: Most of the time the starting pitchers get the glory, but not this month. A reliever, Luis Pérez, has been named the Pitcher of the Month in the Republic League.

In September, the Ann Arbor bullpen ace starred with 1 save in 13 relief appearances, logging 23 innings, 23 strikeouts, 1 walk and a 0.78 ERA. Pérez finished the month with 4 wins and no losses -- and captured the trophy as the league's number one pitcher.

He has made 86 relief appearances this year with 2 saves. Pérez has achieved a 18-1 record while holding opposing hitters to a .186 batting average and posting a 1.32 ERA. He has tossed 122.1 innings, given up 80 base hits, fanned 144 and issued 14 walks.

Friday, October 1st, 2100: London's Javier Flores picked up the Rookie of the Month honors for September in the Continental League.

Posting a .339 average last month, he collected 40 hits, 3 home runs, 11 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

This year Flores has socked 187 hits in 704 at-bats for a .266 average with 16 home runs. He is getting on base at a .311 pace and his totals also include 58 RBIs and 91 runs scored.
