April's Best CL Hitter is Pedro López
Wednesday, May 1st, 2097: When guys like Havana's Pedro López win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive April, the longtime Continental League veteran toyed with opposing pitchers all month long, collecting 48 hits in 115 at-bats.

The veteran shortstop hit for a .417 batting average and collected 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and 21 runs scored.


Mateo Gets RL Batter of the Month Trophy
Wednesday, May 1st, 2097: Luis Mateo let his bat do the talking in April and the Republic League heard him loud and clear. He made plenty of noise as he put together a .395 batting average and was named the top hitter of the month.

Mateo's month to remember saw him accumulate 45 hits, 7 home runs, 29 runs batted in, 20 runs, 9 walks and a .448 on-base percentage.

Tadeo Nets CL #1 Pitcher Award
Wednesday, May 1st, 2097: Gabriel Tadeo took home the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors in April. After all these years playing ball, the 38-year-old veteran still enjoys the game as though he'd just broken camp for the first time a month ago. He's a bit older now with a few more aches and pains, but the old man has reason to celebrate, having gone 4-1 for Oshawa last month and claiming the Pitcher of the Month award.

He tacked up a 1.01 ERA in his 6 starts, tossing 44.2 innings and striking out 39.


Republic League Announces Best Starter
Wednesday, May 1st, 2097: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Phil Conboy still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in April. The 29-year-old starter for Ann Arbor was named Republic League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and no losses with 36 strikeouts in his 6 starts, putting up a fine 3.49 ERA in 38.2 innings of work.

Continental League Names Rookie of Month
Wednesday, May 1st, 2097: A veritable toddler to the Continental League, Dale Winter just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for April.

Over the past month the 21-year-old third baseman for London hit .226 with 26 hits, no home runs and 9 runs batted in. He also logged 6 walks and compiled a .264 on-base percentage.


RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Wednesday, May 1st, 2097: Ramón Costello is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In April the Maricopa hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .324 average with 23 hits, 3 home runs and 13 RBIs.

CL's Top Hitter Selected
Saturday, June 1st, 2097: Carlos Roldán has been the model of consistency over the past month and has been a tough out, claiming the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy for May.

The St Cloud right fielder hit .330 with 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and 17 runs scored. He was also walked 7 times and posted a .371 on-base percentage.

This year Roldán is hitting .283 with 14 home runs and 42 RBIs in 52 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .324 with 12 walks and 24 runs scored.


Waikiki's Langman Winner, RL Best Hitter in May
Saturday, June 1st, 2097: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 31-year-old Anthony Langman put together a solid offensive month for Waikiki and was crowned May's top batter in the Republic League.

He batted .351 with 6 home runs, 27 RBIs and 20 runs scored.



This season Langman is batting at a .342 clip with 9 home runs and 47 RBIs.

Johnson Gets May's Top Pitcher Trophy
Saturday, June 1st, 2097: Veteran Tim Johnson put together quite a successful stretch in May for the Havana Banana Sluggers, earning himself the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

Johnson racked up a 3-0 record in 6 starts, posting a 2.04 ERA over 39.2 innings and striking out 21.

To this point in the season Johnson has 4 wins and 1 loss and a 2.39 ERA.


Gómez Earns RL's Best Pitcher Honor
Saturday, June 1st, 2097: Rafael Gómez is at the zenith of his career and today he was selected as the Republic League Pitcher of the Month for May.

He made 12 relief appearances for Spring last month, throwing 12 innings and collecting 5 saves, a 4-0 record, 17 strikeouts and a 0.75 ERA.

This year Gómez has 10 saves. In 23 relief appearances he has tossed 22.2 innings, fanned 32 and given up 6 walks with a 4-3 record. The Spring reliever has recorded a 4.37 ERA and allowed the opposition to hit .250 when he is on the mound.

London's Winter CL Rookie of Month
Saturday, June 1st, 2097: Dale Winter's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young London third baseman has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .301 with 8 doubles, no triples and 3 home runs. Winter also scored 15 times and drove in 11 runs.

Currently Winter is batting .263 with 3 home runs and 20 RBIs.


Costello Gets RL Rookie of Month Honors
Saturday, June 1st, 2097: Ramón Costello earned May's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Maricopa left fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Costello hit .333 with 1 home run, 8 RBIs and 14 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

In 46 games Costello is hitting .329 this season with 50 hits, 4 home runs, 21 RBIs, 14 walks, .389 OBP and has scored 30 runs.

CL's Best Batter Announced
Monday, July 1st, 2097: George Major capped off a fine June by being named the Continental League Batter of the Month today.

St Cloud's left fielder hit .337 while collecting 5 home runs, 25 RBIs and scoring 25 runs. He also drew 19 walks to post an OBP of .450.

In his stats this season, Major has posted a batting average of .346 with 100 hits in 289 at-bats, 18 home runs and 66 RBIs. He has also scored 60 runs, walked 42 times and compiled a .434 OBP.


Sandoval Wins Best Bat Award in June
Monday, July 1st, 2097: For the month of June, Mauro Sandoval of the New York Legends has really worn out the sweet spot on his bat. He has assaulted, used and abused Republic League pitchers to the tune of a .356 batting average and was honored as the hottest hitter of the month today.

Sandoval went 37 for 104 last month with 16 walks. The left fielder tallied 9 home runs, 24 RBIs, 21 runs scored and compiled a .443 on-base percentage.

Sandoval has a .305 average and a .366 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 103 hits, 23 home runs and driven in 69 runs.

Continental League Premier Pitcher is Tadeo
Monday, July 1st, 2097: Gabriel Tadeo's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-1 in June, the 38-year-old Oshawa hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 34 in 41.2 innings, logged an ERA of 1.94 and allowed opponents to hit .204 against him.

Up to now Tadeo has compiled an ERA of 1.87 with a 11-3 mark over 17 starts. He has 95 strikeouts in 125 innings and has held opponents to a .211 batting average.


Cleveland's Starter Receives RL Pitching Award
Monday, July 1st, 2097: This month when the Cleveland manager wrote the name "Hess" on the lineup card, he was pretty confident that he would get a good start out of him. Outing after outing in June Jack Hess took command and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 5-0 mark and 2.54 ERA in 5 starts, piling up 39 innings and 25 strikeouts and holding opposing teams to a .268 average.

For his superb performance Hess was named the Republic League Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

On his stats sheet for the year Hess shows a 9-5 record, 16 starts, 114 innings, 86 strikeouts and a 3.24 ERA.

Winter Honored by Continental League
Monday, July 1st, 2097: Dale Winter was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 22-year-old third baseman definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen June's Continental League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 27 games Winter batted .310 for London, slapping 36 hits in 116 at-bats with 1 home run, drove in 8 runs and scored 15 times.

So far this season Winter has 4 home runs and a .279 batting average.


Costello Picked RL's Top Newcomer
Monday, July 1st, 2097: Youngster Ramón Costello emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Maricopa deserved the honor, batting .381 with 3 home runs and 16 runs batted in. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Costello enjoy the limelight.

Posting a .347 batting average to date, Costello has 7 home runs and 37 RBIs.

Sekine Takes Best Bat Award in July
Thursday, August 1st, 2097: To survive in the bigs, you've got to be a scrapper like Tokaji Sekine. It never pays to take a day off from the batting cages or to shrug off the advice of the hitting coach. It all paid off today as Plantana's right fielder pinned down the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy today.

He hit .398 in July collecting 9 home runs, 20 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

So far this year, Sekine is batting .284 with 20 home runs and 64 RBIs.


Red-Hot July Lands Sandoval Batting Prize in RL
Thursday, August 1st, 2097: Beach balls were coming in at Mauro Sandoval in July and he banged, bashed and blasted them all over the park, putting up a .347 batting average and hauling in the Republic League Batter of the Month trophy.

The 27-year-old New York right fielder collected 35 hits last month in 25 games. He put up 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and 19 runs scored. Sandoval also drew 9 walks and compiled a .407 on-base percentage.

This season Sandoval is swinging the bat at a .314 rate with 138 hits in 439 at-bats. To date he has hit 33 home runs, scored 73 runs and driven in 95.

Morales Picked as July's Pitcher of the Month
Thursday, August 1st, 2097: The Continental League scribes have selected July's Pitcher of the Month and have awarded the honor to Jorge Morales of Washington. He was outstanding on the hill last month and has the numbers to prove it -- a 3-1 record.

The Freedom star performer made 5 starts with a 0.83 ERA and surrendered 22 hits in 32.2 innings. He struck out 40 and walked 14.

This year Morales has worked 126 innings with 147 strikeouts en route to a 7-6 record and a 3.50 ERA.


RL #1 Pitcher in July is Las Vegas's González
Thursday, August 1st, 2097: Las Vegas starter Emílio González really put the chill on opposing teams in July and today was acclaimed the Republic League Pitcher of the Month.

He excelled with a 4-1 mark and 2.61 ERA in 5 starts. In 38 innings, he fanned 28 and walked 13.

This season González has a 11-6 record with a 4.61 ERA.

Thursday, August 1st, 2097: In July, Manchester shortstop Edgardo García took the Continental League Rookie of the Month honors.

In 22 games he hit .333, collecting 21 hits, 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 6 runs scored. He also chalked up 4 walks and a .368 OBP.

This year García is batting .256 with 73 hits and 5 home runs. He has scored 24 times and has batted in 24 runs.


July's Spotlight Falls on Rookie Star
Thursday, August 1st, 2097: Cleveland's Roy Burns put the wraps on an excellent month today, topping it off with the Republic League Rookie of the Month award.

Sunday, September 1st, 2097: On the heels of a very productive August, Augusto Sánchez received Continental League Batter of the Month recognition today.

The battle-tested third baseman hit .330 for the St Louis Hops and racked up 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

García RL Outstanding Batter of the Month

August's #1 Hurler Announced: Tadeo
Sunday, September 1st, 2097: It was a very good month for Gabriel Tadeo in August. The 38-year-old veteran starter for the Oshawa Mullets outpitched everybody -- young and old -- to claim the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award earlier today.

Tadeo ran up a 5-0 record in his 5 starts during the month. In 37.1 innings he fanned 33 and recorded a 0.96 ERA.

So far in 27 appearances this season, Tadeo has recorded 17 wins and sustained 5 losses. He has pitched 195.2 innings, yielded 153 hits, fanned 153 and has a 1.98 ERA.


RL Announces Best Pitcher for August
Sunday, September 1st, 2097: Chris Storey is the latest Republic League Pitcher of the Month trophy winner. The Waikiki starter sparkled on the diamond time and again last month and finished August with an outstanding 5-0 record.

In 6 starts he tossed 43.2 innings, posted 45 strikeouts, and sported a 2.06 ERA.

So far this year Storey has made 28 starts, tossed 197 innings, struck out 196 batters and walked 46. His record is 11-6 with a 3.02 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .227 batting average.

Sunday, September 1st, 2097: 25-year-old Jorge González is deceptively poised for such a young man. In 5 starts he bagged 4 wins in August and took home the Continental League Rookie of the Month Award.

The St Cloud hurler logged a 4-0 record, 20 strikeouts in 33 innings, held opponents to a .195 average and compiled an ERA of 1.91.
