Want to buy a camcorder
So with the new kid, we would like to have the ability to make some decent videos instead of the rudimentary ability that comes with our ancient digital camera.
I have tried looking through how to buy guides, but it is just confusing. I thought I would boil down what I want and see if anyone knows just what I should do. Any help would be appreciated, actually. I would like these features: Sub $200, though if slightly over, that would be ok. HD capability with a decent framerate. Storage is just whatever. As long as I can get a decent amount of video at one time and eventually get it onto my computer in a recognizable format, I'd be ok. Add to that any types of things you think I should be looking for. Thanks for any help. |

Does anyone have a few I could start with. I'd prefer not to read an entire forum trying to decide what I want. I'm hoping for a bit more streamlined starting point if possible.

Try this maybe Best 5 camcorders - CNET Reviews Best budget camcorders - CNET Reviews (I'd have included their Best HD camcorders list too but the cheapest thing on it was $499, a couple of the above are HD however)

I was a fan of the Flip camcorders in that price range. But they shut down. Maybe a Sony Bloggie or some of the lower end Everio JVC ones?(

My limited experience with Flip's was that they were surprisingly good as well (surprised me anyway, I was expecting them to be kinda junky). The shutdown was disappointing news. Maybe eBay?

OK, great. I appreciate all of the stuff you guys have posted. Based on the limited amount of research I did, I have found one that suits my needs and got a ton of positive feedback in my price range.
It is the Samsung Q10. It says limited availability at the 2 Best Buys in my area, so if I'm going to go hit those up this evening. If I can't do that, I will order from amazon this evening. Thanks again, everyone. |

That one looks pretty good. Don't be scared off it feels kind of cheap, as theses type of things are very lightweight as compared to a traditional old school camcorder.

Best Buy was sold out of that one, but I had them order it. Should be here Thursday. Thanks again, everybody.
