I need a heater...

Can anybody recommend a good heater?

My place has a lower lever & stairwell that are unheated and it's friggin' cold! Worse yet, the cold air comes up to the living room & the thermostat is right off of the stairs, so my furnace kicks on every 10-20 min.

I was looking at some of the infrared quartz heaters... mixed reviews, as everything else seems to be.

Any experience?

We have an EdenPure. Its a bit on the pricey side but works very well. I had my doubts about whether it would reduce our energy bills, but it did (in Michigan).

Here is a link.

We got this and it kicks ass: Amazon.com: Sengoku CV-2230 KeroHeat Convection 23,000-BTU Portable Kerosene Heater: Home & Garden

Kerosene is relatively cheap. I'd also buy a mono-dioxide detector just in case.

I'm in the market too. I'm having trouble with my place right now. The upstairs is almost always 5-10 degrees warmer than the downstairs. I've closed vents and other stuff to no avail. With the kitchen and full entertainment center upstairs generating heat makes it even worse. So I end up shutting the doors downstairs which gets the rooms cold but the hallway is freezing.

Hoping to find something that won't set the house on fire and just generate a little heat in the hallway. Either that or put in some heated floors I guess.

I use one of these in a room that doesn't get much heat from the furnace and I agree that it puts out a ton of heat. Def reccomend the detector and some fragrance for the fuel. K1 is pretty expensive anymore IMO, so I don't use it as much these days. He might be able to get away with the 11000 BTU type, which is going to use significantly less fuel(and be less warm obviously).
