Which one of you guys is going to make me proud and put Syracuse at #25?

I guess we will just have to go and beat Virginia Tech, in their house, in our next game.

That is OK. I know you guys from Tech have short memories.

Games that allegedly occurred in the Jiffy Pop Dome are just figments of everyone's imagination.

Oh, and 2001 doesn't count because Grant Noel was allegedly our quarterback....he's just a figment of someone's twisted imagination, also.

Actually, the only game I remember where we played live oranges was one where we won 62-0. Was that Syracuse??

I suppose a 3-4 league record for a supposedly 'powerhouse' team was just a dream last year too?

a day later dola....

I was just talking to a friend about the game, and here is what he sent me....reminded me of this thread:

"In 2001 [the Freeney, 10-3 year], two of my grad students went to VT as undergrads. I had the opportunity to have a quick talk after class with them the week preceding the VT game. They were completely arrogant about their chances. I spelled out the reasons why I thought that we would be competitive in the game--I.E., solid ball control offense with Mungro, good special teams, good defense, excellent upfield defensive pressure, SU playing mistake-free football, etc.--and one of them literally laughed at me. He was incredulous that I thought that SU had any sort of shot whatsoever. Needless to say, they were both hanging their heads in shame the following week, and totally avoided bringing it up to me. I didn't even seek them out to force them to eat crow; it was enough knowing that SU had dashed their feeble national championship pipe dreams! Go 'Cuse!!!"

Anyone who had national championship dreams for VT in 2001 was an idiot. With Vick leaving early + Suggs out for the season, we were lucky to make it to a bowl.
