Post The Giants Dynasty

This is my first time posting a game to the message board, so if I get some netiquette things wrong or such...I apoligize:

Let's begin! (FOF2001)

Redrafted players. RB on full, QB on none. Stressed defense vs. run, stressed potential over exp., Defense all around was high

Notable Pickups:
RB Terrell Davis
WR Andre Hastings
DE Jevon Kearse
DT John Parrella
DT Leon Lett
DE Marcus Jones
S Ron Rice

QB Situation: 3 really bad QB's

Exhibition Results:

Ex. Week 2
Chicago 20 NEW YORK G 21
With 1 minute left in 4th quarter, QB Wuerffel threw a 15 yard pass to WR Green for the tie. Then K Gary Anderson kicked the game winning PAT.
Defense:
We held them to just 73 yards rushing. Special teams:
Needs work, they averaged 34.7 yards per kickoff return and started from within their own 20 ONCE.
Offense:
Davis rushed for 101 yards on 20 carries. Both QB's threw a TD and an INT. Neither impressed me.

Ex. Week 3
NEW YORK G 3 Jacksonville 24
We got killed
We were held to just 48 yards rushing. Davis was 25yd/18car. QB Delhomme was 4 for 15 (!!) with an INT and QB Wuerffel (last weeks hero) was 3 for 13 with 3 INT's.

Ex. Week 4
NEW YORK G 7 New York J 9
QB Wuerffel was 21 for 26 with a TD. Was not enough as the Jets got 3 field goals on us to win.

Ex. Week 5
Baltimore 30 NEW YORK G 20
At least we were getting points on the board again. But we were held to just 34 yards rushing which made it impossible to control the clock. Davis was 0yrd/12car. QB Wuerffel threw 5 INT's as well. Delhomme was injured to Barnes came into play. He was 5 for 9 with a TD pass.

After Preseason:
Injuries:
CB Terry Fair 2-3 months with dislocated knee
QB Jake Delhomme 3-5 weeks with broken ribs
CB Levingston 3-5 weeks with brocken hand
WR Green 3-5 weeks with brocken hand

Injuries on other teams:
DAL S Mark Carrier Out (Very Long Term) with a Torn Rotator Cuff
SD WR Chris Calloway Out with sprained back
TB QB Doug Flutie Out with Torn Thumb Ligament

Final Ex. Stadnings:
NEW YOURK G 1-3 51PF 83PA

Tenn. scored the most points with 109
Ari. let up the least amount with 40
NYG scored the least amount with 51
Buf. let up the most amount with 127

As you can see, my offense sucks.

I cut QB Wuerffel (too up too down. Can't take chance. Delhomme is injured so couldn't cut him)
I signed QB Casey Weldon to start

Cohession: 100 all around (???)

Ready for season opener vs. Arizona

Week 1
Arizona 32 NEW YORK G 13
Only highlight was a Terrell Davis 68 yard run for a TD. He rushed for 207 yards on 24 carries. However, QB Weldon threw up 3 INT's and was 14 for 28.

Week 2
NEW YORK G 17 Philadelphia 18
We lost this game when Drew Bledsoe threw a TD with 45 seconds left to go in the game. Weldon had a better day. 13 for 26 with only 1 INT. Davis rushed for 52 yards on 24 carries (no TD's). Bledsoe threw 4 INT's for Philly and still managed to win.

Week 3
NEW YORK G 16 Chicago 7
Yeah, my first win. Davis rush for 133 yards on 33 carries with a 70 yard TD run. Weldon 14 for 25 with no INT's (no TD's either). My defense held Chicago to just 68 yards rushing (2.4 per carry).

Week 4
Washington 23 NEW YORK G 29
We improved to 2-2 with an OT victory over Washington this week. Our defense held them to 98 yards on the ground and intercepted them 4 times. Davis had another great day, rushing for 168 yards on 39 carries. He also scored the game winning TD on a 12 yard run. Weldon threw 19 for 28 for 202 yards with a TD and an INT. S Rice had 13 tackles and 2 INT's to gain him the game's MVP and the Def. Player of the week.

Week 5
NEW YORK G 21 Tennessee 24
Another heartbreaker with Tenn kicking the game winning field with seconds left on the clock. Weldon had his first multi-TD pass day, throwing 17 for 31 with 2 TDs and 2 INTS. Davis had 106 yards on 22 carries and a TD. Our defense helf them to just 33 yards on the ground but it wasn't enough. QB Culpepper threw 26 for 40 and 490 yards (!!!) with 2 TDs and 3 INTs.

Week 6: NYG 17 Atlanta 24
Week 7: Dallas 10 NYG 3
Week 8: Bye
Week 9: PHI 17 NYG 7
Week 10: CLE 13 NYG 9 *Benched Weldon started Delhomme*
Week 11: STL 6 NYG 35 (STL finished 11-5)
Week 12: DET 20 NYG 24
Week 13: NYG 20 ARI 23
Week 14: NYG 3 WAS 38
Week 15: PIT 9 NYG 13
Week 16: NYG 0 DAL 6
Week 17: JAX 14 NYG 17 (JAX finished 12-4)

Finished the season 6-10, last in the NFC East.

(I'm not doing summaries anymore. They take up time that I don't have. This is easier. )

SUPER BOWL: Chicago 31 Jacksonville 19

(Chicago ended 13-3 and I was one fo 3 that beat them! I know my team can beat the top teams) In fact, my Power Rating was 2nd in the enitre NFC, 4th overal. Not bad for a 6-10 team.

Season Awards
S Ron Rice got 1st Team Safety
Ended season with 8 INTs and 89 tackles

Can't beleive Terrell Davis got nothing. He led the league in Rushing with 1813 yards and 13 TD's. Corey Dillon was second with 1533 yards and 17 TDs and he got NFL MVP for Chicago. (Maybe Jim fixed that. Low standing teams rarely get anything for their players, no matter how good they were.)

Passing
Kurt Warner led the league in passing with an 89.2 QB Rating.

Free Agents
Didn't pick up anyone. Lost a few reserves.

draft
I had the 7th pick. 3 QB's looked good to me. All three were taken...Ended up with Tom Akin. His ratings were pretty good. Guess what. BUST! Big time. Everything except for 3rd passing and Scram. ratings are in the single digets. I didn't have any late rounders become superstars.

Trade
I dumped on of my reserves and a 3rd round draft pick to get Bobby Hoying. I needed a QB. With Davis, I need anyone that can do better then Weldon or Delhomme.

Pre Season
W2: NYG 10 CLE 20
W3: SEA 31 NYG 16
W4: NYG 10 DEN 13
W5: NYG 0 NOS 27

Ex. Record 0-4

I only scored 36 points in preseason, the lowest in the league for the second straight year.

Injuries
LB Ted Johnson Broken Hand 2-3 Months
QB Tom Akin Bruised Shoulder 3-5 weeks

Other injuries:
ARI WR Micheal Westbrook Sprained Neck 2-3 months
DET DT Trevor Pryce (49/79/80) Hyperextended Knee 2-3 months

Prediction
Chicago will repeat as champions

I will be lucky to go .500

Week 1
Lost AT PHI 10-34

Week 2
Lost to OAK at home 0-31

Week 3
Lost AT WASH 3-24

In the first three games, Davis has yet to rush for more then 40 yards in a game. Hoying also has a rating of 47.7. THis is not looking good.

Are you kidding? Ricky Williams is a FA. I make some moves and sign him to a 1 year 1.46 mil deal (unnegotiated)

Week 4
Won vs. SF at home 24-10
Davis (17att/97 yards) and William (10att/62 yards) combined for 159 yards.

Injuries: 2 LB's are playing injured.

Week 5
Lost AT SEA 7-20

Week 6
Lost to ARI at home 25-28

Week 7
Lost AT NOS 7-17

Week 8
Won vs. DAL at home 13-10
Williams is primary RB in this game and runs for 133 yards.

Week 9
Lost to WASH at home 14-24

Week 10
Won AT TB 10-9

Week 11
Lost AT DEN 26-34

Week 12
Lost AT ARI 17-31

Looks like Williams didn't do the trick. 4 games left and we're 3-9. My prediction of Chicago winning it all again is almost dead as they are 6-6.

Week 13
Won vs. KC at home 14-10

Week 14
Lost AT DAL 3-38

Week 15
Lost to PHI at home 9-20

Week 16
Won vs. MIN at home 48-13
Why couldn't I do that all year long?
Davis (started past few weeks) 15 carries for 136 yards and 2 TDs (one a 93 yard run)
Hoying 16-25, 192 yards, 2TD's
Ron Rice INT returned 64 yards for TD
Preston's INT returned 30 yards for TD
Sharper also had 2 INT's

Week 17
bye

Standings
Finished 5-11 last in NFC East

Surprises: Tennesse were 7-9 in 2000 and then 12-4 in 2001
Denver was 5-11 in 2000 and then 13-3 in 2001.
San Diego was 11-5 in 2000 and then 7-8-1 in 2001
St. Louis won the NFC West with an 8-8 record

Last thoughts
Dallas was the only team I beat that finished above .500 (went 1-1 vs. Dallas this year)

Playoffs
Chicago lost in the first round. There goes my prediction.
Dallas scored 30+ points in all 3 of their playoff games. They let up 19 points (10 and 9) in their first 2 playoff games.

Super Bowl
BALTIMORE 36 Dallas 31

Expansion Draft

Trade
LB Trotter to SF for DT Keith Hamilton ad their 2nd round pick (11)

Released
Last year's 1st round pick bust QB Tom Akin. Didn't even throw one pass during the regular season.
Also released backup C Briam Williams for Cap Room purposes

Free Agents
Decided not to resign Ricky Williams. Will keep Terrell Davis.
Lost Andre Hastings in FA

Draft
At the risk of another bust, there's a QB I want. But I couldn't wrestle away the 1st pick from Richmond, so I got the 2nd pick from Pittsburg. Here's hoping Richmond doesn't take him....

And they do....

There is no other QB that looks like a good choice.

Drafted DT Tom Snead (36/34/74 act. 100/89/74 pot.)

New Stadium
vote failed 48.9% yes, 51% no

Problems
Only 37 players signed and less then 1 mil in cap left...damn.

Not A Bust
Snead is not a bust. Phew...
Neither did the QB I wanted. Richmond bastards.

Roster
A LOT of FA rookies. All but 1 CD is an FA rookie.
