"Regardless of whether Gordon has to face a judge next month, law-enforcement sources say unofficial justice was already delivered. The Hell's Angels, who detained Gordon for police, were not, the sources say, gentle with sensitive areas of the rock star's body."

Ouch.

Prison is probably a safer place for that guy now.

lol...a bit of a misunderstanding involving a 9-year old at 1am in a deserted boathouse with a camera.

Hell, there's little understanding that would make the above sentence be okay.

Sad, when you consider she was closer to 18 months than 18 years.

HEMPSTEAD, New York (AP) _ A judge dismissed child endangerment charges against the bass player for the jam band Phish at the request of prosecutors.

Michael Gordon, 38, was arrested last month after the mother of a 9-year-old girl could not find the child backstage during a concert by The Dead at Jones Beach.

Gordon and the girl were found together in an enclosed boathouse that is part of the backstage area, police said. He was also charged with trespassing.

The judge threw out the charges Friday after prosecutors said they could not prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt, said Rick Hinshaw, a spokesman for Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon.

Hinshaw said the girl's parents also wanted the charges to be dropped.

After Gordon's arrest, the band issued a joint statement from Gordon and the girl's family calling the incident "an unfortunate misunderstanding."

I never understood the whole Phish phenomenon. They've got all these scary looking uber-devoted followers, sort of like the Grateful Dead. It's like a cult or something.

Pervert should be in jail. Wonder what would have happened had the parents not bothered to look for their daughter and they were left alone in that boathouse longer. Sick Phuck. Not many things get me emotional, but this sort of shit angers me to no end.

dola: two paragraphs from the MTV article:

Quote:
Last week at the Jones Beach Theatre in Wantagh, New York, Gordon was backstage taking pictures at a concert when he spotted a 9-year-old girl he wanted to photograph. So, he invited her to an enclosed boathouse behind the theater, an area only for use by state employees, state police said.

Police said the girl was fully clothed when she was found, and a source close to the band insisted there was nothing inappropriate about the pictures taken by Gordon.

Insert your daughter or son's (niece, nephew, whatever) name in place of "9-year-old girl" and tell me you wouldn't want to hang this guy by his ball sack from the top of a flagpole.
