I have some catching up to do here. I missed the peanut butter, but that is probably in the 2008-2009 season. I will be there in a few days. Good stuff so far.

Colgate (2-4) at UC Riverside (2-5) We get our first road win of the year, and can only hope we can build on it. We win 72-47. Moses scored 24 and Murphy added 14.
December 21, 2016 Colgate (3-4) at Lafayette (1-7) Moses was limited in his playing time due to injury and it might have costed us the game, as we lose 79-69. Murphy picked up the slack with a 26 point night, but it was not enough.
December 31, 2016 Colgate (3-5) at Buffalo (5-6) Another road game, and another blowout, 75-56. We are not even playing competitively. Moses had 18 and Murphy had 13, but the same old story here. Neither of them can get much help.
December Wrap Up Joe McGee was injured ion our last game and will miss a month. 3 scholarship offers were declined, and we still have not signed a single recruit.

Albany (4-5) at Colgate (3-6) We finally get a win again, and this time against an instate rival. This final here was 64-58. Not very overwhelming, but we will take it. Murphy was our only player to score in double figures, and he had 22.
January 8, 2017 New Hampshire (3-9) at Colgate (4-6) We put together a few wins to start off the new year, taking this one 76-47. Moses finally gets to play at 100% after some nagging injuries and shows what he is capable of. He scored 24 and had 10 boards. Wampler chipped in with 15 points today.
January 13, 1017 Northeastern (8-2) at Colgate (5-6) Despite the shaky start to the season, we pull ourselves back up to 500 on the year, and more importantly, win our conference opener against one of the preseason favorites. The final score was 72-64. Moses had 19 and 9, but for once a few other guys stepped up all at the same time. Craven had 16 while Murphy had 13 and Wampler with 12.
January 14, 2017 Campbell (6-6) at Colgate (6-6) We trailed through most of this game, but rallied late and hit a basket with little time remaining to take this one 74-73! Moses scored 20 and pulled in 10 boards today. Our guards, Murphy and Craven combined for 35 points and 10 assists.
Mid Month Review
We struggled out of conference but got off to a nice start in conference with two home wins. It is yet to be seen how we will fare on the road. Top 25

Morris Brown (7-8) at Colgate (7-6) We continue to win games at home, as we step out of conference to take a 79-75 win. Moses scored 23 on the day, and Freeman and Craven are starting to contribute. They had 13 and 17 points respectively.
January 23, 2017 Colgate (8-6) at Sacred Heart (9-9) We drop this road game, out of conference, 69-58. Moses had 16 points and 15 rebounds to lead us, and Murphy had 14, but they received no help.
January 27, 2017 Colgate (8-7) at Holy Cross (5-10) Moses again has to play this game with some nagging bumps and bruises, and as a results, we go down hard, 74-61. Murphy stepped up the scoring with 24 and Craven added 12, but the rest of the team was very quiet.
January Recap PG John Pasley, from Clayton, NY has committed to Colgate. John is a 3 star recruit. He is a great passer and great defender, but his lack of a good shot will not have to keep defenses honest with him.
The next two weeks might make or break us. Top 25

Loyola Maryland (8-10) at Colgate (8-8) Out first meeting with another new Ivy League school is asuccessful. We win 87-66. Moses introduced himself with 26 points. Wampler had 15 and Murphy had 13. Joe McGee also chipped in with 10 off the bench.
February 4, 2017 Wagner (7-10) at Colgate (9-8) Wagner was another early season favorite, but we deal another serious blow to their aspirations, and really help ours out with a 67-50 victory. Moses went for 20 and 10 while Craven had 15 and McGee had another double digit offensive performance off the bench.
February 10, 2017 Colgate (10-8) at Loyola Maryland (9-11) Our winning streak gets snapped on the road, 85-56. We are pretty good at home, but really struggle on the road right now. Moses and Freeman led the team with 17 and 16 points, but everyone else really struggled to find their shot.
February 11, 2017 Brown (5-14) at Colgate (10-9) Pathetic. We drop this one at home 58-51. If we cannot win this game at home, we have no business competing for a league title. Moses had 20 and 13 while Craven was our second leading scorer, with 11. That will not get the job done.
February 14, 2017 Colgate (10-10) at Northeastern (15-5) An impressive road win, which is hard to come by for us. We take this one 96-86. Litton has a career game with 36 points! Bray and Wampler had 10 each and Murphy threw in 17 points in the winning effort.
Mid Month Recap
Despite the bad game at home a week ago, we are in second place. Campbell is threatening to run away with things mid way through though. Top 25

North Carolina A&T (7-14) at Colgate (11-10) Winning at home is going to be key in sticking around in the conference race, and we have no problems today, taking it 77-51. Moses went for 26 and 10 and if he is not in the running for conference player of the year, something is seriously wrong. Raby had 17 off the bench.
February 18, 2017 Colgate (12-10) at Brown (7-15) Brown just seems to have our number, as they beat us 75-58. Murphy led the way for us with 14, and they held Moses to just 10 points.
February 24, 2017 Colgate (12-11) at Wagner (8-16) We pick up a nice road win and sweep Wagner on the season. This final score was 83-71. Moses rebounded from his subpar game with a 24 point performance. Wampler, Murphy and Craven all score din double figures as well.
February 25, 2017 Colgate (13-11) at North Carolina A&T (9-15) We were never in this game, and ended up losing 70-57. Moses was our only player to perform, and he had 19 and 10.
February 28, 2017 Coastal Carolina (12-17) at Colgate (13-12) We will be without our point guard, Craven for this important matchup. Without our PG, we fall by just 1 point, 58-57. Moses had a terrible night, scoring just 5 points, and that was easily the difference.
February Recap
With just 2 games left, we will have to win them both and get a lot of help. Top 25

Colgate (13-13) at Campbell (16-9) We get blown out by the team we are chasing. That ends any hope for us, officially. The final score was 90-70. Moses had 26 and 14 today.
March 10, 2017 Holy Cross (10-17) at Colgate (13-14) We drop this last game, even though it could have gotten us to 500 on the year. We just knew we were out of contention and played like it. The final score was 70-66.
Final Standings
Between our early season start, and the actual team we fielded, I am really not too disappointed by our finish in league play. It could have certainly been much worst.

Off Season Procedures
We get a late commitment from SG Michael Gouveia from Bel Air, MD. Mike is a 3 star recruit. He is an excellent long range shooter, and has nice form on his jumper. He plays adequate defense and also has point guard skills.
Our recruiting class is ranked #126. Virginia had the #1 ranked class. Our prestige level holds at 37. We get a few under whelming job offers this year, but decline them all. James Lucy, my assistant coach, leaves for a job with Niagara. We hire Justin Wiseman away from Rice to replace Lucy. Justin is rated 38 on offense and 40 on defense. We have 10 games to schedule, 7 of which can be at home. In May we schedule: William and Mary, Texas Southern, Liberty, Mount St. Mary’s, Gardner Webb, and Binghampton. In June we schedule: IPFW, Cal State Fullerton, Buffalo and Brett Nichols Recruiting begins in June and we have 2 scholarships to fill. As November rolls around we get an early commitment. PF Jose Jones, from Commack, NY has committed to Colgate. Jose is a 3 star prospect. His potential is through the roof, and I feel the national press has underrated him.
We break camp in mid-November and are ready to start the new season.

2017-2018 Colgate Roster
CENTERS 2 Chadwick Franck C So 6' 8" 252 Cuba, IL This guy is a walk on and the first of our three centers who are pretty terrible. It is a glaring weakness. 5 Daniel Gregoire C Fr 7' 0" 257 Lawrence, KS Dan has a few offensive moves, but nothing outstanding. He has no other skills right now. 14 Monte Hale C Fr 6'10" 238 Aiea, HI Monty is a waste of time. POWER FORWARDS 24 Damon Herrera PF Sr 6' 6" 213 Fulton, MO This walk on could play a bit of defense and rebound a bit, but is not likely to play in a real game. 12 Richard Sanchez PF Jr 6' 8" 245 Monticello, UT Rich is a great rebounded, but that is all. Another Walk on. 11 Fabian Straight PF So 6' 9" 233 North Smithfield, RI Fabian is a decent PF, but he will have to play center for us do to our poor depth here. He is a tremendous defensive player and can do a little scoring, but will struggle to pull down rebounds. SMALL FORWARDS 0 Julius Fielding SF Jr 6' 7" 229 Wellsville, OH Julius can score from the outside, and play a little defense, but he is probably going to struggle this year as we need to start him at the PF slot. SHOOTING GUARDS 40 Freeman Murphy SG Sr 6' 4" 213 Brooklyn, NY Freeman is an all around player and will start at the SG position for his senior season. He will need to be our team leader. 51 Michael Brown SG Jr 6' 3" 196 Buffalo, NY This junior has a tremendous offensive game, but his defense really lacks. He will start at SF. 15 Ahmed Ingram SG Jr 6' 4" 208 West Fork, AR A decent 3 point shot for this walk on but that is all. 23 Joesph McGee SG So 6' 3" 186 Floral Park, NY Joe is another 3 point specialist, but he can get down on defense and cover his man. Should be the first off the bench in most cases. 13 Ronald Messner SG So 6' 4" 188 Henrietta, NY Very similar type player to McGee. He will see his share of playing time. 25 Michael Gouveia SG Fr 6' 4" 198 Bel Air, MD Very similar to McGee and Messner. Will see about an equal amount of PT. POINT GUARDS 33 John Craven PG Jr 6' 0" 174 Rochester, NY John is a great point guard and really knows how to distribute the ball. He will start at PG. 43 Josh Pasley PG Fr 6' 0" 176 Clayton, NY This freshman needs to work on his shot, but could become a nice point guard in the future, after Craven graduates. Top 25

November 14, 2017
Binghamton (0-0) at Colgate (0-0) Our offense is on fire to start the new season and we blow these guys out, 94-75. Michael Brown was quite the surprise as he breaks the Colgate single game scoring record with a 37 point performance! Fielding put up 14 points and 11 boards. Craven had 10 points and 10 assists, while Straight had 10 points as well.
November 20, 2017 Gardner Webb (0-1) at Colgate (1-0) This game was a bit closer, but we move to 2-0 on the season with a 74-67 victory. Brown leads the team with 24 points and also pulled in 10 boards. Murphy scored 21 and Craven chipped in with a dozen, along with 9 assists. I have no idea where Michael Brown came from!
November 25, 2017 Mount St. Mary’s (0-2) at Colgate (2-0) Another easy win for us at home, and we open up the season 3-0 with a 74-49 win. Brown cools off but still scores 10. Murphy leads the way with 27 on the day and Craven had 15. We are clearly an outside oriented team.
November 30, 2017 Liberty (0-0) at Colgate (3-0) The problem with an outside team is when the shots don’t fall, you are in trouble. That is exactly what happened here as we lose, 74-62. We had 4 players score in double figures, but nobody really opened it up and there were a few pretty bad shooting percentages out there., along with 21 turnovers.
November Recap
A pretty good start for a team with a lot of question marks. Top 25

Colgate (3-1) at Texas Southern (2-4) We drop our first road game, but just by 1 basket, 66-64. Murphy led the team with 17 points. Brown and Straight each scored in double figures as well.
December 11, 2017 Colgate (3-2) at William & Mary (2-5) We snap the 2 game losing streak with a 50-45 road win. Brown and Murphy were are only double digit scorers, but we found a way to pull out a win on the road, as ugly as it was.

Buffalo (3-4) at Colgate (4-2) Buffalo comes in and just blows us out of our own building in an embarrassing 93-67 loss. Craven had a nice 21 point performance and Brown and Murphy scored in double digits, but we were never close in this one.
December 22, 2017 Southern (2-5) at Colgate (4-3) We are stumbling at home as we drop our second straight, 79-70. Craven and Brown scored 18 apiece and Murphy had 15, but we are getting nothing down in the paint.
December 26, 2017 Colgate (4-4) at Cal State Fullerton (2-14) Cal State must be exhausted after playing 16 games in just over a month, but they outlast us, 65-62. Murphy led the way with 18 and this is starting to turn into another long season up here.
December 30, 2017 Sacred Heart (4-6) at Colgate (4-5) We finally get one back in the win column with a 68-64 victory. Murphy scored 23 in the winning effort, while Brown scored 16 and had 10 boards. Craven chipped in with 15 points.
December Recap C Brooks Davis, from Jaffrey, NH, has committed to Colgate. Brooks is a 4 star recruit! He is a nasty play on offense already and could improve by leaps and bounds still. He shows good defensive skills, but we would like to see his rebounding improve. With the state of our centers right now, he is already guaranteed a starting spot next season.

Colgate (5-5) at Southeastern Louisiana (3-7) We just cannot win on the road, and lose here 63-58. Murphy scored 22 while Fielding had 10 baords and Craven had 10 assists. A three player triple double if you will.
January 7, 2018 IPFW (2-15) at Colgate (5-6) Worst loss ever. 79-43 at home. Murphy had 19 but I am disgusted with the rest of this team.
January 12, 2018 Holy Cross (10-1) at Colgate (5-7) Things are getting bad around here as we lose 80-67. Brown, Murphy and Craven all scored in double figures, but the defense was bad and the post play is even worse.
January 15, 2018 UC Riverside (5-10) at Colgate (5-8) Finally we get another win this year. The final was 72-60. I just have to be thankful we start with a clean slate in conference play. We had 24 combined points for the C and PF position along with 21 rebounds. It is about time! Brown also had a game high 20 points.

January 26, 2018 Colgate (7-8) at Loyola Maryland (8-9) We drop a close one on the road and fall to 1-2 in conference play. The final here was 64-59. Murphy had a terrific game with 27 points and McGee finally contributes off the bench with 11 points.

February 2, 2018
Rhode Island (10-8) at Colgate (7-9) We pull out a 4 point victory, 58-54 at home to even our conference record at 2-2. Our guards led the way with 53 of our 58 points. We got 3 points from our starting C and PF and 2 from a C off the bench.
February 3, 2018 Northeastern (9-8) at Colgate (8-9) Another home game, and we eek another victory out, this time by just 2 points, 87-85. Again, it was all guard play. Brown, Murphy, Craven and McGee off the bench combined for 75 of our points. Brown, Murphy and Craven all scored over 20, which is pretty impressive.
February 9, 2018 Colgate (9-9) at Brown (10-8) This weekend we have two road games, and we drop the first one by a basket, 59-57. Brown led us with 17 points, while Murphy and Craven had 13 each. We are still not getting much production down low, and I really don’t except that to change this season.
February 10, 2018 Colgate (9-10) at Campbell (7-13) Ouch. We get thumped, 76-48. Murphy led the way with 14, and Craven chipped in with 11. There big guys dominated ours and scored a lot of points all day long.
February 13, 2018 North Carolina A&T (5-15) at Colgate (9-11) I was afraid to play this game, as this is the kind of loss that just kills me. Thankfully, we have no problems today at home, winning 89-63. Murphy had a career game, scoring 31 points and Brown added 21.
Mid Month Recap
In conference play, we are doing just fine at home, but we cannot seem to buy a win on the road, even though we have had a chance a couple of times. Top 25

Brown (12-9) at Colgate (10-11) Did I just say we had no problems at home? I spoke to soon. We get taken to the curb in this one, 67-53. Fielding, our PF grabbed 11 boards, one of the few times we got some sort of production down low. Murphy led the team with 15 points and Brown scored 11.
February 17, 2018 Colgate (10-12) at North Carolina A&T (6-16) We still struggle on the road, even to a pretty pathetic team. We lose this one 75-63. It is time to start thinking about next year. Murphy again led the way with 16 tonight, while Brown and Craven had 13 each. Straight grabbed 10 boards. Brown and Craven will be back for their senior seasons, but Murphy is graduating, so we have 2 guys to count on. We are going to need some improvements and maybe a nice recruit to help us out next year.
February 23, 2018 Campbell (10-15) at Colgate (10-13) I should have never said we are doing fine at home, because we now lose 2 in a row at home with a 78-68 loss here. Brown and Murphy had 15 each.
February 24, 2018 Colgate (10-14) at Northeastern (11-13) Another game, another loss. This one was 68-51.
February 26, 2018 Long Island (15-11) at Colgate (10-15) We finally pick up another win, 77-67 in an out of conference game. Murphy led the way with 26 points while our other 3 guards scored a combined 41. That makes 67 points from those 4 guys.

Post Season
Brown is invited to the NIT as a 10 seed and will face Nebraska in the opening round. They win by 10, 68-58. In the first round, they face the #2 seed, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and beat them at the buzzer, 45-43 to move on to the 2nd round. Our NCAA representative is Holy Cross and they are an 11 seed, facing #6 seeded St. John’s. Holy Cross gives them everything they can handle, but in the end St. John’s prevailed, 70-67. In the 2nd round of the NIT, Brown will face 3rd seeded Notre Dame. Brown pulls off another upset and continues to advance in the NIT with a 72-60 victory! In the 4th round, Brown will face the top seeded Crimson Tide for a shot at going to MSG for the NIT Final Four. Brown’s streak finally comes to an end, 66-54, but they have advanced farther in the post season than any other Ivy League school has ever done.
