Yoichibei "Nifty" Kimura, a 2 pitch guy I nabbed with the #1 overall pick, has dropped off severely at only 29 years old. I honestly can't think of a player with similar ability tanking so young.

Did he recede because I forced him into a starting role all those years or was it just bad luck? Have any of you experienced this in your single player games or with pitchers around here (only 2 pitch guys) that I may have overlooked.

I've seen players start dropping off between 29-31 pretty quickly in the past. It doesn't happen that often but pretty much for every player that lasts into his 40s there is one just like him that dies in his late 20s/early 30s. The two best ones that I can think of off the top of my head were Frank Dawson who's ratings started to tank at the age of 30 and Betancourt who I think started becoming washed up at 31.

I honestly don't know if over-working a 2 pitch pitcher adds any to that, but I haven't seen/heard that suggestion before so am guessing you just found a player that peaked early.

Hey Kevin,

Check out Scott Guthrie, CF for Hammersmith in the late 2010s. He was the #2 overall pick in the first draft after the restart and started off gangbusters for me.

Unfortunately, he started losing his ratings as early as 27, and was done by 30. A real shame.

I have had others, too. He's a little older, but Blaine "From Blaine" Collins, who I just cut late last season was only 34 or so, but dropped from 110 CON or so all the way down to below 60 in just a season. Another guy I had recently, RF Ramon Quintana, also started to fade fairly early.

Sucks when it happens, but not much you can do.

BTW, I had to laugh when I checked the draft list this morning. I did a quick sort to see the likely candidates for my first ever top pick, and there is a stud SP in there from England. lol... I am guessing the game wants to be sure I pick him.
