"gate" suffix scandals. (I hate this...)
Watergate. Climategate. So on & on & on... I really get annoyed how any little scandaly thing gets tagged "gate." Look at the obscene list: List of scandals with "-gate" suffix - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It's ridiculous!
Watergate had nothing to do with "water," yet the society of media morons tag what they want with "gate" to let people know it's something to look at that ain't right? What are they going to do when there is a huge scandal involving water? |

Wasn't it called "Watergate" because it happened at the Watergate building?

Yeah. I think he's referring to the fact that since then, they've appended "gate" to everything when it's a scandal. /tk

Alright, M GO BLUE, you've obviously got some confused people here, could you be a little more specific about your beef?

That is his way of saying that it makes no sense to treat the -gate in Watergate as a moveable suffix. Because while Tigergate might be something that involves Tiger Woods, Watergate had nothing to do with water. (Except that the water in Watergate probably refers to the next door Potomac.)

What about that scandal where the slow jaywalkers stopped traffic for a long time? I believe it was called Gaitgate

Agreed with big John. Fucking hate the "gate-ing" of everything. Unless Bill Gates does something bad and it is called Gatesgate.

I'm disappointed to find out that Muldergate had nothing to do with the X-Files.

I'm glad I'm not alone in this. Sometimes I feel like I'm out in the street in a robe yelling at traffic.
And Terp... sorry I wasn't more clear. Watch yourself in the snow, it's dangerous out there! :P |

This seems right to me. I think if something does happen involving water, we'll have to rename Watergate as Watergategate, so that the new scandal can be called Watergate. We'll just have to be sure we change the name before we add the new scandal, otherwise we might overwrite it and lose our data. |

Ranks quite a distance behind media's use of "smoking gun" and the unforgettable "shock and awe". Even if the latter was only used once, it was painful.
People are stupid. They need this stupid catchy shit or attention is lost. |

I've always hated when they put the end of "alcoholic" on something else. Like, for instance, chocoholic.
