Nobody’s a perfect person in the world. Everyone kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me, and I just feel that people need to give him a chance. I always looked up to Mike Vick and I always will just because I think he’s one of the best quarterbacks. I love Mike Vick and I look up to him a lot.”

Heh, to be fair, I don't attach this to OSU, just Pryor. I think it's just a 19 year old kid who didn't think before acting, and getting called on it. Then, under pressure, responded rather oddly.

Not sure where you got your quote from but its different than that of what ESPN shows.

Have you ever killed or murdered a person? Me neither. Know anyone who kills people? Yeah, so everyone kills and everyone steals- I'm not sure where that comes from.

See, this is like the whole "Jesse Helms is a racist fuckwhit" thread. You can't just take bits and pieces of someone. Mike Vick is a very talented athlete, but he's also a horrible human being. I hope He learned a lot and becomes more, but to admire Mike Vick is just fucking stupid.

I hope no one ever "admires" me. I hope those that know me and have known me in my life can learn from my mistakes and how I dealt with everything in my life. I suppose then it comes down to what you expect of someone you respect then.

Vick could be Superman wrapped in jesus' second coming, but after what he's done he'd still being a worthless piece of shit and not someone worthy of admiration under any circumstances as far as I'm concerned.

Its all well and good that some people still want to support him, but the gravity of his offenses speak far more about who Mike Vick is as a human being than anything his athletic ability will ever be able to compensate for.

Athletes are a dime a dozen, no matter how amazing his feats may be on the field in 10 years he's gonna be just another schmuck out in the world living his life and that schmuck is gonna be plain old Mike Vick the guy who thought it was ok for YEARS to set dogs on one another to kill themselves for his and his friends entertainment.

While I understand admiration of athletic ability and all that crap...is there not a line that is drawn on admiring people at some point? Or should we start applying that to intellectual ability as well?

Meaning...should debate club champions start professing their admiration of Charles Manson's inate ability to influence others? Or Ted Bundy's wonderful charm and charisma? How about NRA members admiring Lee Harvey Oswald's marksmanship?

I realize that one can argue that their abilities were used to kill people rather than just being ancillary to their crimes...but everybody kills people and stuff.

Render, I am appalled by his actions as well but it is possible to admire his athletic abilities and past accomplishments while not condoning his vicious acts.

SteveMax58, that seems like a strawman because Vick's athletic ability had nothing to do with his crimes. He didn't use his athletic ability to kill someone on the field, the acts with dogs are unrelated to his athletic accomplishments. Manson, Bundy, Oswald, and whoever else you feel like bringing up used their attributes specifically to commit evil. Mike Vick in one domain was an extremely talented athlete and in another domain was an abuser and murderer of animals.

With all that said, I do not agree with Pryor's choice of wording or script on his eye black, as I disagree with the portrait of Vick as some type of tragic hero. All too often in our society we ignore explicit displays of a lack of morality or conscience, and while Mike Vick deserves a second chance, it is a bit idiotic for a college athlete to make that type of tribute to him or his "struggle".
