Question LeBron James plays basketball?

Just read this article on yahoo.com:
Quote:
LeBron James may not have secured an endorsement deal with Gatorade, but the Cleveland Cavalier will still be able to quench his thirst.

He is signing a deal with Sprite. James reportedly will replace Kobe Bryant as the soft drink's spokesman.

James, 18, of Akron, Ohio, and the NBA's No. 1 draft pick, will also be the spokesman for POWERade.

The official announcement will come later today at Coca-Cola's headquarters in Atlanta.

Terms of the six-year agreement were not disclosed. The agreement will include extensive marketing activities for both brands, including advertising, promotions, appearances and other initiatives.

For Sprite, James will serve as a key spokesman representing the "Obey Your Thirst" lifestyle that has become synonymous with the iconic youth brand.

"I've been drinking Sprite and POWERade for a long time," James said. "I have always admired the way Sprite and POWERade spoke to young people and athletes, and I can't wait to be a part of it."

Jeff Dunn, president, Coca-Cola North America, said James personifies the Sprite brand.

"LeBron has not only achieved his NBA dream quickly, but he has done it on his own terms," Dunn said.

James also has a $90 million deal with Nike and $6 million contract with Upper Deck trading cards. He also has a $13 million contract with the Cavaliers.

That pretty much sums it up.

I'm not wishing it would happen, but I will laugh my ass off when he ruptures an ACL or something like that his first game in the preseason.

he probably wouldn't care. he can retire before he's even started "working."

I know, I was thinking more along the lines of how screwed the NBA and half the marketing/advertising world would be.

I don't want to see him get hurt, but it sure would be funny if he put up numbers like Kwame Brown (not blood alcohol numbers, scoring numbers). He could claim to be the highest profile suck-ass player of all time.

I wonder how he now divides his allegainces?

At one point, he speculated it was 50% Cavs/NBA, 50% Nike. (Much to the consternation of people who seem to think that professional sports is pure in other ways)

Now, where are we?

39% Nike
39% Cavaliers
11% Coca-cola
7% Upper Deck
1% Hummer
3% still being negotiated

...sound about right?

I think you have the Cavaliers way too high and his mother should be at least number 2.

Edit: Dang Ragone you beat me to the Mom slam!

BTW, Kwame Brown got caught AGAIN in Georgia for drunk driving and other infractions this week. Will he please be banned from our state. I think this happens every offseason.

Edit: Spelling

That sounds about right QuikSand, but I don't think the Cavs would be so high up on the list

Do his deals include clauses for such a case, an pre-season injury?
