Tiger Beware III: T.W. PGA Tour, Tour Level
Welcome to the next level, as they say.
Read the continuing adventures of T.E. Almighty as he finally gets to compete with the Tiger Woods and Colin Montgomeries of the golfing world. Watch as he attempts to compete with some of the greatest players in the world. Exhale, finally, as you SLOWLY edge your page down to reveal whether or not he made his putt to win. Comment on the greatness that is... Tiger Beware III: T.W. PGA Tour. T.E. the Pro T.E. the Amateur And now for something completely different... not winning every event (for those of you expecting a man with 3 buttocks, I apologize).

I was really seething with every CRAPPY shot Cink made. How can a Tour player be that bad. I could have won if I could have taken ALL his shots. Oh, well, better luck on partners next time.

That was fun. The scoring system adds an element of "GO FOR IT" to the game since a bogey compared to a birdie or eagle is nothing.
In the meantime, I have been playing and I forgot that I had $300K sitting in the bank. I think it is time to raise the ol' attributes a bit, since my game seems to have gone backwards a bit.

Haha, loved your comments on Cink's various shots. I can picture you yelling the same at the computer. What did you expect from Cink? He's not exactly Hall of Fame material. Do you always get Tiger Woods as a competitor?

Desnudo, I was, in fact, yelling at the not-quite-there Cink. I was getting so pissed I was tempted to do the ol' throw the computer in the swimming pool trick, except I don't have a swimming pool... probably saved me lots of money.
![]() No, you do not always get Tiger in every event, as you will see momentarily. Thanks for reading.

Headgate Studios Invitational
Calendar Event, January 16th-19th.
Site: Spyglass Hill Golf Course. Greens normal, rough heavy, winds still. Event: Stroke Play, 72 Hole Tournament. Opponents: full field, 146 players. Setup: 2 rounds played, then a cut will be made for the last 2 rounds. Fee: $500 Purse: $800,000 This is our first 4-day tournament and I am wondering how it will go. I remember playing Links game and in a tournament, if I remember, one day a player would have a good round but the next day he would suck and a different player would have a good round. The bottom line is that as long as you didn't screw up a day completely, no computer player would ever have enough good rounds that you were in danger of losing. One hopes the quality is better and some players will test us if we have normal level play. Let's do this.

I don't think I CAN up the difficulty. I don't know if there is some slider thingy to move (I have never actually checked on this since I just started without thinking about it. Anyone looked for some way to make it harder, or ever been on Master level to see if it is easy/hard?).
I guess if it is easy, I can always do the power ranger and try to get to the next level faster. First, I need to do a few more events to see if I am just lucky to be kicking ass, or if it is too easy for real.

almighty, just out of curiosity, you submitted a round for the FOFC league, didn't you? What was your score in that round? Are you able to post 65s in a round of golf out of your career, say at tour difficulty and from the back tee (or wherever you tee off in the league)???

Frogman, yes I submitted a round for the league, and it was better than a 65 (alot). With 'very wet' greens scores should be low because you can go right at the pin without worrying about your ball rolling another 20 yards or whatever it would with normal greens. We used tournament tees, but that just means your 2nd shot is longer which isn't a big deal with very wet greens.
We'll see how I do when you can't try to hit the pin on every hole. That will be a better barometer.

1 shot up after 1 round
2 shots up after 2 rounds... ...then the runaway began as Tiger could manage only -1 in round one. That was WAY too easy. We'll try a couple more events and see if it remains so.

Well, Tiger was a bit of a dissapointment. Except for the one hole-out shot from 96 yards, his iron play was awful. His drives were often times horrid, and usually didn't go very far (however, Colonial is one of the toughest courses to play, imho, because of all the doglegs and trees you need to navigate).
It was still fun to have him as a playing partner, anyway, and we DID win, after all. ![]()

$60K is the magic number.
That is the amount I need to have enough to raise all the attributes to the 75 needed to attempt the Q-School event for the next level. We will see how the next couple of events go and make a decision when we get to the magic number.

Well, we are on our way to the Q-school tournament being played at Bay Hill.
The difficulty should be racheted-up a good bit, I hope. You have to be in the Top 10 to advance to the next level, which is called the Champion Level. Good luck to T.E., if he needs it. ![]()

Well, that didn't work out to well. T.E. went in the water 4 times, including twice on one hole.
In round 2, we will not be going at the greens in 2 on par 5s. Hole #6 is a 350 yard par 5. It looks so inviting that you just have to go at it, but it is practically a right angle from tee to green travelling by fairway. New motto: patience, Grasshopper.

Yeah, but it wasn't so much the challenge as it was my thinking I could make shots that I couldn't. I just fucked the round up, royally (I did use protection, of course. Safe golf is the only way to go in the new millenium.)

That was better, obviously. As stated before, the wet greens allow for attacks to be made more on the pin, so that helped T.E..
Also, as promised, we were more conservative on longer or more doglegged holes, greatly reducing the bogey count. Now, as the overall leader's score has shrunk by a stroke, we figure if we can shoot 66 twice more, that should get us, at least, in the top ten. One assumes Tiger will make a run at the top, but all we need is a top ten, not a win, so we feel much more confident at this point.

That was an awesome round, considering the wind and the dry greens. Nice job, me.
![]() We are obviously in good shape now. We would like to win because it is probably $1,000,000 or so for the championship and going to the Champions level, someone said one attribute point costs, like, $50,000. If so, it will take awhile to get to all 100s. The only potential problem in terms of finishing first is that the conditions may make us be conservative if we have trouble early on, in order to be in the top ten. With so many players tied for first, and with Tiger lurking at the top now, one of them could shoot 8 under or something, which a couple of seemingly random players do every round, and take the big money away. We shall see.

Sorry for the dullness, Bucc. I don't plan to lose in order to keep everyone attentive, but maybe the Championship level will be tough enough to make me fight for money. We will see soon.
