Final series of the year for everyone..

Edmonton plays 3 at home vs Apex.
Baltimore plays 3 at home vs Napa Valley
Montreal has to win all 3 on the road at Boston to stay alive.

Hammersmith has 3 at home vs Ann Arbor
Chico has 3 at home vs New York
Colorado has 3 at home vs Hartford.

None of the playoff contenders play each other.

The Republic League final playoff spot comes down to the last day of the season.

Hammersmith has Manuel Cardona pitching for them, he is 11-18 with a 5.47 ERA this season. He will be facing Lawrence Thompson for Ann Arbor who is 15-10 with a 4.90 ERA on the season.

Chico will have Ryan Hall pitching for them. Hall has a 6-17 record with a 6.50 ERA this season. he will face a 14-13 Manny Villa who has a 3.78 ERA on the season.

Chico vs New York:

Chico 4, New York 3 - Nick Vega hits his 34th HR of the season in the loss, but Hall pitches the game of the season for Chico as he goes 8 innings, striking out 10, walking 3 and allowing 7 hits, but only 2 Earned runs.

Chico's win forces Hammersmith to need to win in order to clinch the playoff spot...

Ann Arbor 3, Hammersmith 2:

A 2-RBI double by Salinas followed by a Castel RBI single in the top of the third is all that Ann Arbor needs in order to play spoiler in this one.

Hammersmith loses to force a playoff series between Hammersmith and Chico for the final playoff spot.

Chico leads the head to head series vs Hammersmith this season 16 to 14 so will have home field advantage in the best 2 of 3 game series between the two teams to decide the final playoff participant for 2025!

Ironically enough, this also gives both Gil and Romero extra games to get Home Runs in on their way to try to get the record.

Hammersmith vs Chico Game 1:

Mike Davis (15-15, 4.76 ERA this season) for Hammersmith
vs
Angel Aguilera (14-7 3.99 ERA this season) for Chico.

In a little bit of extra game intrigue, Aguilera actually came up in the Hammersmith farm system and was their first "big prospect" that the franchise had.

In a very non-dramatic final game of the season, Hammersmith crushes Chico 11-2. Yan goes 2 for 5 with a HR and 3 RBI for Hammersmith, while Hernandez pitches 7 innings, and gives up only 1 run over 7 hits.

Hammersmith clinches the final 2025 playoff spot!

Daniel Gil finishes the season, hitting .278 with 23 HR and 110 RBI. He has 547 total in his career, just 17 behind 2nd place all time and 21 from the all time record.

Hector Romero finished the season hitting .327 with 35 HR and 129 RBI and has 523 career Homers. He is just 24 HR behind Gil at this point. (45 behind the all time record)

Both sluggers have a realistic shot at breaking the record next season!

Another notable accomplishment from this season... Mike Hensley of Apex saved 49 games this year and becomes the first pitcher in 33 years to save 49 or more games. The all time save record in a season is 52, set in 1992 by Bryan Waddell of Valdosta.

Congrats playoff teams!

Man we really made a run of it, but getting swept by Hammersmith leading up to the final week or so really hurt things. Next season, next week!

Wow, I was really sweating there. This isn't one of my greatest teams, but it has some good pieces, and it's nice to see those pieces come together and make this season an unexpectedly good one.

BTW, not only was Aguilera a long time former Hooligan, I also drafted and mostly developed Game #2 Chico pitcher Stanton Bird, before dealing him away in the Castel deal.

It would have been endlessly embarrassing to lose this playoff-clinching series to two castoff Hooligan pitchers, lol.

Congrats to the playoff teams.

Baltimore crapped this bed this year. Every single one of my hitters basically had a down year for them. Cant do that and expect to be good. Glad that Apex and Edmonton made it instead.

The pariety that we have in the league is very interesting though.
