Everything GameShows

So, it is summer and I'm home a lot so I'm going to be watching a lot of GSN. There are a lot of topics regarding game shows that need to be discussed, I have already noticed. Let's put them in this thread.

1. Wouldn't games like password (plus/super) and pyramid ($10,000/$25,000/$100,00 jackpot wad) be better if they didn't just splatter the answers all over the screen instantly? Don't we like to play along? Is this why these shows failed eventually? Wasn't pyramid really popular?

2. Is Richard Karn the worst gameshow host ever? They have him relegated to Bingo America now, I see. His family feud stint was lolbad.

3. Why is Whammy so much worse than Press Your Luck? Is it really Peter Tomarkin? Is it the CGI whammies? What is it?

4. Has anyone ever watched Let's Make a Deal all the way through and wanted more? Also, do they actually get to keep the dud prizes? Like, if you trade your $2000 for door number 3 and it is a monkey riding a tricycle, I had better effing take home both a monkey and a tricycle because I'll bet I can get $2k out of just the monkey and you'd be surprised how much you can soup up a tricycle.

5. Bull from Night Court should've been on Who Wants to be a Millionaire at LEAST one time.

Answers:

1. I don't know.

2. Almost certainly. Though, it could be the host of #3.

3. Mostly the host. He is terrible. Plus the board is just not like it used to be. And they tried to jazz it up with double whammies and crap. Nobody wants that. Just go back to basics and make the board freakin' square instead of having random squares all over the place.

4. Yes, I enjoy watching LMAD because I like to see how much cars were in the 60's. And how much other random crap was. For example, answering machines were more expensive then.

5. I remember him being pretty decent when he popped up on those random star-based game shows.

Was there ever a hotter game show host than Becca Grant? I used to watch this show after the girlfriend went to bed, better than soft porn.

http://members.tripod.com/CHS29837592/gallery.htm

Surpirsingly can't find any better quality images from the show on the internets, but this host was smokin hot. She would dress up as a librarian, school girl, cheerleader, you name the fantasy. The actual game show part was about a 2 out of 10 but I give the overall show a solid 9 out of 10 for her.

I am somewhat fascinated by GSN. I watch Match Game everyday...'cause it rules...but that also gets me all the BONUS in-between bullshit with the cadre of GSN's demonic hosts. Usually for Match Game, that equates to Heidi Bohay and Alphonso Ribiero, both of whom I adore, and they're trying to give away a year's supply of fucking muffins or something (seriously), but in order to give away said muffins, some cretin scraped off the bottom of America's shoe has to call in and answer some questions. These questions are usually so insultingly simple that they actually enrage me, causing me to jump from my seat yelling and spitting at the television, but by no means does that mean that Debbie, the 63 year-old lump of fried chicken and generic pharmaceuticals from Minnesota, has ANY shot of getting her mitts on those delicious muffins. Here's an actual exchange from recent days:

HEIDI: Okay Jean, for the melon arrangement, here's your question. This boot shaped country was the birthplace of pizza and pasta.
JEAN:
HEIDI: We need an answer Jean, you're running out of time...
JEAN: Europe?

Don't think there are nudes out there though this site says "Playboy shoot" will continue to look around for a bit, in the mean time...

Couple of cameo appearances by famous people before they were famous to watch for during your game show marathon.......

1. Talk show host Jenny Jones appears on 'Press Your Luck'.

2. Super Bowl winning NFL coach Brian Billick on 'Match Game'.

My 9-year old has a serious addiction to this channel. We have to restrict her viewing because she watches it so much. I've forbid her from watching The Match Game because I really don't want to have to answer the "What is whoopee?" question for another couple of years - although I've noticed a couple of suspect/cringeworthy commercials on there directed at adults that I'm a bit concerned about.

Carlton from Fresh Prince parlayed his appearance on that celebrity singing show a few years ago into hosting a blackjack game on this channel.

lol dude i didn't care. i was just being silly. i think if you blew it up to like 400% you could see nipple-coloration through the fabric probably but that's about it.

if it was a link you might have had issues with that maybe, but honestly I didn't care.

then again, you don't want to end up in the box for no real reason, that sucks. if you're going to get boxed at least put up 2Girls1Cup or goats*x or something

The Match game gets a little off-color sometimes, because it was the '70s and they had some versions that aired at night. Here's one I caught the other night:

GENE RAYBURN: Weird Willy's boyscout troupe was so tough, he got a merit badge in {BLANK}
UNKNOWN '70S STAR: Rape

I usually watch TPIR on tv every day at work. Since there's no cutsomers anyways.

Epic fail bet the other day. Lady bets 599 after someone bids 600. Of course she went on to get the next item exactly right and win a car. But how can you limit yourself to a one dollar window in the opening round.

dola, the one with Carlton from Fresh Prince as host with the Power Chips is a particularly awful show. Catch 21 maybe?

And the game where they pick out the balls(as previously mentioned on here) is ripe with unintentional comedy.

I haven't been able to watch GSN regularly since they cancelled QuizNation. I won $1,040 from that show. Since the show is gone now, GSN can kiss my ass.

Yeah, Shandi can kiss my ass too because she fucked up my first name on basic cable. I'm sick and tired of women doing that.

Yeah, but those are post Throut and Neck photos and are generally of the airburshed black or white lingerie photo shoot that every Maxim type magazine does. Don't get me wrong I would never kick a chick out of bed that looked like a Maxim girl but after you see a few they all look the same. White bikini poolside, black bra and panties, stockings.

On this show she would wear really hot and different outfits. Like really really short slinky gold dresses, or a librarian's outfit with glasses and her hair in a bun, or pink "ass hugging" shorts and a skimpy top. Those are the pics I crave today!

We watched one of those the other day and it's amazing the shit he got away with, kissing the women and such. Today, he and the show would probably be sued out of existence.

The other thing we noticed watching a bunch of the old ones compared to the new ones is how much easier the old ones were in the final part. Then, they had a bunch of questions where the #1 answers could get you 40-50 points easy. Today, we noticed that most of the #1 answers were in the 25-35 range. So you had to nail either the #1 or #2 answers for every question to win. Back then, you could get a few zeros and still win. One we saw last week, the family won on the first question of the second round. That's impossible today.

You know what surprises me most about old game shows? The prizes. You could win $5-25K in 70s money on the Pyramid, or Match Game, or Password with relative ease. You could buy like 7 Monte Carlos for $25K in 70s money.

Oh, and I wish GSN would limit the amount of new shows they put on (pretty much all crap) and run more classic shows. Which reminds me, I haven't watched What's My Line or Name's the Same* in a while.

* huh...looks like Joan Alexander died just last month. She was 94.

I would watch GSN again if they would make new episodes of Russian Roulette and Cram. Those shows were ridiculous. I mean, people dropping through a hole in the floor because they got an answer wrong? Or people having to stay awake all night and memorize articles and trivial lists? Then they had to run on a huge hamster wheel? Amazing!

It was a video game show that was on late at night. The callers would phone in and compete head to head in different video games while being directed by "wisecracking" video monsters called Throut and Neck. The key to show though was Rebecca Grant (she was on one of the NFL shows for a while a few years ago). She would flirt with callers, dance around in outragous outfits, and generally just show her body off for the whole show. There is a clip of a show on YouTube which isn't one of her best but would give you an idea of how the show went. Unfortunatly I don't know how people do the neat link where the video shows up on here...

I wish they would air Sale of the Century. They redid it a year back under the name Temptation. I thought it was pretty good, but it was cancelled rather quickly.

Sale of the Century, the problem with that show is they taped it on crappy video stock, so none of the episodes survived in good quality. That's why you never see it now. But I agree, that show was very good. Also, the old Scrabble with Chuck Woolery, that was a good show.

I've watched Catch 21 with Carlton the past couple days and it's terrible. It's pretty obvious that they rig the cards and Carlton is extremely loud and annoying.

I really like $100,000 Pyramid. I think Scott Hamilton has made it to the winner's circle every single time this week. The other celebrity lady they have against him is awful at the game. I wish they'd show more of this, Password Plus, and Jeopardy.

Do they show any of the old Family Feuds anymore with Dawson or Combs? Everytime I tune in it's either Richard Karn or John O'Hurley hosting and I immediately change channels.
