Grand Canyon
A couple weeks ago I posted about booking my parents trip to Vegas - now I need some advice on where to stay at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. They'll be driving up from Phoenix to the South Rim (staying one night) and then driving to Vegas. I looked at some websites about places inside the park but wondering if there are any hotel outside the park that are close to the entrance that any of you have stayed.
Thanks again for any input...

I forget where it was, but I stayed in Williams, AZ, which is a good 30 minutes away. It's probably one of the closest towns with restaurants, supermarkets, hotels, etc. There are some hotels along the road that are probably good. My brother just got back and he stayed at the Grand Canyon Hotel (hxxp://www.grandcanyongrandhotel.com/) I think.

I went to the Canyon in 2002. Flagstaff isn't far out from Williams. As Mike said, there is some sort of hotel there. I can tell you this: You won't get to see all of it in one day. You won't get to appreciate it in that time frame.
